WOW!!!!! Lady Stardust you keep on surpassing yourself... Before you ask the video was a great length and what a wonderful video it is. I keep forgetting English is not your mother language because you are so very proficient in it. Your collection is stunning, thank you for sharing it with us, the use of the tiny butterflies from before is great in linking your work and giving continuity. I love the faceted stones instead of just the normal rounded tops the light catching faces are super as is the great use of colour, yes I love the blue but your collection of matched pairs, size and hue are perfect in this setting. The use of both types of ear wires is great as is the use of different styles of neckless whilst keeping to the theam of your collection. I can see why parting with that piece will be hard, it is for me the centre piece of a fantastic collection, very well done Basia you've surpassed yourself... AGAIN!!! Can you move on from here and do better? Yes you can, with consummate ease, you always do and I do figure you always will...

Steve, thank you so much for the kindest words! Reading your comment has put a huge smile on my face today, and I feel incredibly grateful for all the support and appreciation. Sometimes I find myself not believing this is a real response to my work haha 😀 I know I'm still a beginner with so much room to improve, but it's very exciting and I want to keep pushing forward, while inspirin and motivating others 😍 I'm happy you liked these pieces, and I agree, faceted stones offer more spectacular effect than the regular round ones. They're just so shiny and special :) Thank you for the sweet and kind feedback, I truly appreciate it! :)

@@TheArtOfMetalsmithing Sorry no I meant to put that on Andrews channel... like hell I did, you dear lady deserve every word of praise and more. Your work is inspired and inspiring to us your greatful followers! You keep pushing and we will keep following, it's the design as well as the quality of your workwomanship that I love, you don't have a fully equipped studio with hot and cold running assistants but your quality would never tell on you. When I win the Euro lottery I'm buying a supper power boat 20 million or so with a fully equipped studio built in and will enjoy making my rings etc in the calm water off some hot tropical beach... Basia, have you ever made your own tools? It's so fun and they are the best. Buy tool steel rod at home store and file and sand... easy! KZbin has videos on how to do this. It would be a great video to make too, after you play and make some. Also, cut off the head of a plastic toothbrush and then file and sand it smooth, but not too smooth, it grips the bezel better then! - best bezel pusher, never scratches! This new tip has saved me, I too had the cheap scratchy bezel pusher. I think charcoal makes a reducing atmosphere, less oxidation I heard. Have you? The longer I watch, the more questions I have, sorry! How many pieces do you usually make to have a "collection" (example: At least X or no more than X)? Thank you.

Again a great video Basia! And beautiful jewelry as well! It was interesting to see how similar some things are compared to how I work and some things are different. I still haven’t figured out if the “shop update” way of working is something for me or not, because I feel like I might only be able to do 2 in a year if I do this and I always end up making something new that I really like that doesn’t fit into the collection I planned for the next shopupdate 😄 But announcing a shop update does really help to give myself a push to be more productive. Hope all of these items will sell well and YES to more vlogs like these, it gives you the freedom to just share what you’re already working on instead of having to create other content for your video’s and they are fun to watch! 💛
@TheArtOfMetalsmithing
@TheArtOfMetalsmithing 5 жыл бұрын
sooo true, working is shop update/collection system can be limiting actually if your flow is different and you work more freely. That's not a bad thing, that might mean you're better in different system, creating one of a kind pieces whenever creativity flows! ⭐ Though that part about announcement, yes, that is motivationg and definitely helps with organisation (and marketing), though I'm still working on that second part haha 😀 Thank you so much for being so sweet and supportive as always Karolien! So grateful for you ❤️❤️❤️

@TheArtOfMetalsmithing
@TheArtOfMetalsmithing 5 жыл бұрын
Ohh you guys 😀😂 It's actually quite simple. I still have minimal amount of tools, so there's only so much mess I can make, and also I really turned into a minimalist in the past years with the amount of stuff I have in general - and I can say it really helps with keeping tidy space. Also, I really likr to clean and tidy around my area, AND, don't forget, I did tidy for the video too! haha 😀 So it's a mixture of all of that. But most important part is - have the space you like to work in, whether it's messy or tidy, you do you ❤️

Great vlog. So insightful. And beautiful collection!!! As I observe all of your work, dedication and hours you put into your masterpieces (so incredibly detailed!!), I ask myself, how do you possibly figure out how to price your work? Ahh, thank you sweet lady!! That's so kind! As for the picing, it is a continuous struggle, as I'm still in the early stages, my business is growing and so are my skills, and I don't have one failproof system yet. I've recently learned a lot about pricing, and that there were many factors I didn't even include in the pricing! It's a tricky subject, but I'm hoping that I'll get better. And as soon as I feel more comfortable, I will make a video about it, so it could help others too :)

Hi! Just found your channel (and instagram). Very inspirational. I have a question. Near the end, when you are talking about uploading your products to etsy, you talk about a shop update deadline. Is this a self imposed deadline, or is this an etsy kind of update. Can you elaborate?
@TheArtOfMetalsmithing
@TheArtOfMetalsmithing 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Dale! Thanks so much, and I'm super happy you've found me on IG! That means a lot, I wasn't sure if anyone sees me there haha 😀 As for the deadline, it's completely my own. When I do collections, I choose a certain date of the "release", or "shop update" - it's a day when the collection becomes available for purchase. It helps me organise my work, keep a good pace and helps with marketnig too. So it's not connected with Etsy at all, just one way of releasing jewellery pieces :)

hiya flower smashing video again, do you have to make your own tea that is not on, can you tell me please how dose etsy work do you have to make a certain number of pieces a week or month or can you do it on a casual basis, i don't want to do it as a full time job as i am retired, my jewellery is more of a hobby than the drudge of a full time job but a little bit of extra money will not come amiss, is there a certain amount of money to pay per item or is it just one fee for all items or dose etsy take a percentage of the items you sell, you take care flower keep the videos coming and stop making your own tea that's shocking.
@TheArtOfMetalsmithing
@TheArtOfMetalsmithing 5 жыл бұрын
Hahaha, thank you so much Albert! :) Such a sweet comment, really made me happy 😍😃 Etsy doesn't control amount of pieces and you don't have to pay for using the site. You pay 20 cents for each listing (that lasts 4 months) and when you make a sale you pay 5% commission of each item and there are fees for card payments, but they aren't very high). It's very easy to use the site and there are lots of tutorials on KZbin :) If you're interested in starting a shop as a hobby, start on their site - they will guide you through the first steps www.etsy.com/uk/sell?ref=ftr Good luck! :)
