Just loving the content on this channel more and more. So motivating. The questions for the insights of how the elite train and eat are fantastic.

I hope you bought some breakfast to David, Evans, Chemosi and Shamak! What the audience doesn't get is that with covid, most runners are not running races so no income to survive! When you are lucky you pace these europeans or americans for a small amount of money! You get injured it's all your problem! So when I look at this video I don't enjoy it at all as most of people are! Some have luxury preparing for indoor races or world championships while others are surviving in harsh ways! This is the problem with us africans, always generous and welcoming!

Thank you for your insight. What would a sustainable solution be in your opinion?
@patpatson92012 жыл бұрын
@@BillyTeeton Thank you for even caring! There can be multiple venues to help out and keep improving! The first question one should ask is to whom is profitable when the athletes are ready and running fast? At the lowest scale is the city, the district and even the private sector that should be involved. Kenyan athletes have been playing a big role in representing the country; there should a big fund to help all the athletes listed with kenyan federation. The private sector can be involved as well, it's very easy to help out! We can even do it à la japonaise! In Japan, you have teams or clubs completely funded by campanies how great it would be to have a better marketing both for the athletes and local campanies. From abroad, big brands like Nike, Asics, Adidas, etc are not that involved as one would think, only a small and very few athletes have a contract with big brands! You would be surprised to see how not that many don't even get access to equipment! All the running agencies working with kenyan athletes should be licenced and obliged to sign sustainable contracts with the runners, you can't just take one runner and throw him or her away because he or she is injured! There should also be a committee that teaches or prepares athletes in investments and retirement! Any athlete listed with kenyan federation should get medical access or insurance to help reduce the medical costs... Many things can be done! Running professionally is one of the hardest sport one can do but yet how many races in the world only pays pennies to athletes? I have seen a world class runner win 10km in 27:55 to only get paid 500$ how crazy is that?!
@soraya2172 жыл бұрын
@@patpatson9201 But what do you expect from these european runners ? They're getting paid pennies too, especially if they stop winning races or get injured. At least they bring some money to those Kenyans, you cant expect those athletes to fund a health care system for every pacer they've run with, that is for your country to do. Sadly there really is very little money in track and field, it just doesnt generate that much money.
@patpatson92012 жыл бұрын
@@soraya217 I didn't say I was expecting europeans to fund our health system! I only mentioned several venues we can use to help improve the situation for athletes both locally and big brands aboard. But as far as I am concerned, this pacing thing is only hurting our athletes more than anything but hey we all have to survive!
@OwenSullivan2 жыл бұрын
@@patpatson9201 Why do you say pacing is hurting Kenyan athletes? Also I was thinking about your earlier comments. Are there certain brands that are better than others in regard to your comments - if so we could take that into account when purchasing. Also would it be feasible for the guys to act as trainers via the Internet? Presumably they know a lot about running training. And there would be lots of recreational runners around the world who would benefit from personalised advice and plans. I could imagine a website that would allow recreational runners select a trainer and enable micro payments. Then forms for the runner to enter their goals and abilities, and templates for the trainer to use to propose plans. The plans could then be updated based upon results shared via Strava. I wouldn't expect large revenue streams, but if it were all going to the trainer it might be enough to matter to some of the guys.

felt really bad about the kenyan athletes having to eat bread and margarine cause its cheap...:(.. To be fair, kenya better charge the foreigners big bucks to be there and train with them- take advantage of that industry and help their people out.
@heroe148611 ай бұрын
Would also be beneficial for their athletes if they reinvest it infrastructures and thus attract even more foreigners
