What guys like Max fail to realize is competition. LeBron is great no doubt, but he went against opponents that were way more inferior to Golden State. A legitimate case could be made that the Pelicans were better than any team LeBron has faced in the East, nevermind the Rockets. LeBron has gotten monster stats and he for sure carried his team but they were against inferior opponents. The Celtics alone were missing their TWO best players.

The Cavs beat both the Celtics and the Raptors. Even without Kyrie and Hayward, both those teams were better than the pelicans (they had better records, in case you can't read numbers).

First of all the pelicans were NOT the 8th seed. Second of all, they had better records because eastern conference teams play other eastern conference garbage more often, therefore their regular season records are inflated. Thirdly, the celtics got the record off the back of their super star PG who didn't play at all in the playoffs. The raptors were barely .500 against .500 teams all season long, and their strong suit is their bench which is irrelevant when your playing 8 guys in the playoffs.

Thats a horrible argument. Take 2016 for example. Real contenders if everyone's healthy were san antonio, OKC, Golden state, the clippers, and houston. Those were all title contenders and they were all in the west. Any one of those teams makes the finals, they are the favorite against ANY team in the east (unless its houston vs cavaliers). fast forward to this year. The only team that even has a slight chance at winning the finals against any of the western conference powerhouses (I'll throw the pels in there if boogie was healthy), is lebrons cavaliers and MAYBE kyrie's celtics if hayward gels with the team. Thats it. Every other team in the east shouldn't even be allowed to watch the finals. The seedings in the west from 3-8 were seperated by a game or 2. The west is so tough, paul geroge and the regining mvp didn't even clinch the playoffs until a week before the regular season ended. Dont even try to make this argument.
