Daniel Hill Trey Newawlins the greatest perimeter defender of all time (Scottie). Grant (first team all defense) with Phil Jackson. That’s a fucking superteam. Then you add Rodman. Who was top 10 in MVP voting in 1996. Gtfo Jordan had the most help. Who were any other wings better than Scottie pippen??? Then you add Jordan on top of that. With Phil Jackson. agreed with stepen A. here. MJ, Pippen, and Rodman don't equal the kind of super teams that are being assembled these days. the Bulls drafted pip and kukoc. they went out and got rodman. no one else on those teams were even remotely dominant players. Harper was great in cleveland, but never was the same after his knee injury. the best players in the league back then wanted to beat each other. drexler was in the end of his career with houston. today's best players are teaming up at the peak of their careers. Being from Chicago and seeing those actual games from the late 80s into their last season in 98, I'm 100% with Steven A! Michael put in the work 7yrs before ever winning a ring, and during that period from 91-93 the word super team doesn't exist in that category. And fact that the Bulls made it to the playoffs passed the first round without Jordan said a lot. It was the chemistry not a super team.

MJ scored 63 in the playoffs against Bird's celtics while they were still great, and mike had zero help. he's a killer, that's all there is to it.

I still think that the second three-peat was not a super team. Rodman was a great rebounder and defensive player, but he was onlylimited to that by the time he has in Chicago. On the other hand Horace Grant was not as good as Rodman defensively, still great though, but had pretty awesome offensive skills to compensate. So it seems that the change from Grant to Rodman had the same dividends. They weren’t a super team, but are considered that way because the work ethic of one guy, which elevated the other guys. The difference between the 1994-1995 Jordan to the 1995-1996 Jordan was amazing!!! Lets not forget that the 80's Lakers had their 3 of Magic, Jabbar, and James Worthy. 80's Celtics had Larry Bird, Kevin Mchale, and Dennis Johnson. 80's Pistons had Isaih Thomas, Joe Dumars, and Bill Lambieer and by the way Dennis Rodman was developing role player turning into a superstar. My point is this if you look at the championship teams in the NBA all of them had their big three with supporting players to be a contender. The Bulls went 55-27 without Jordan, but they also added two shooters in Kukoc and Kerr after MJ retired. So, although the Bulls lost Jordan, their bench got considerably better than it had been during the Bulls first Three-peat. As a rookie, Kukoc made the All-NBA Second Team coming off the bench, and Kerr had statistically his best overall season in 93/94. With Kerr and Kukoc helping to spread the floor, Pippen and Grant shot a higher FG% than they did the previous season when the Bulls won the Championship.

super teams created when almost every player is already a franchise players on their previous team join together on one team is bad for the league. Now, if a superteam develops from players that nobody predicted ever would be franchise players and they just stay on the same team and grow together then THAT is how the NBA is supposed to go. Basic point is, it makes it so only 2 or 3 teams are worth watching bc you know the others have no chance of winning a ring. I blame lazy owners like the HAWKS (and many others) for never investing in a championship team; which due to them not doing this makes FRANCHISE players who actually want to win not consider teams that won't invest in themselves. if i have to define franchise player (since some think Rodman was) then it typically follows a player constituting all of this: 1st round draft pick, gets paid the most on their team, team has declared him their superstar, is in the top 15 of the NBA in two or more statistics, olympian, first team offense or defense, can change a game around by himself, is easily without doubt perceived as one of the top 15 or maybe 20 players in the league during the majority of years they play.

So if stephen curry,james harden,giannis , draymond green, and hassan whiteside all join the same team they are not a superteam?
@lukekylestanley40727 жыл бұрын
correct. My point is when players become franchise players and join to do this NOT when players are developing into franchise players AND aren't considered franchise players yet come together. Giannis, Draymond and Hassan are not considered without a doubt throughout their careers guys who by themselves are who the entire team bases winning on. They however do have qualities that are leadership qualities and make them All-Stars, needless to say. Steph Curry and James Harden developed into the players they are (as your statement shows how in depth you are and how you obviously are aware of development players) and at this point in their career (and the past 4years)clearly qualify as Franchise players. So, with developed players evolving and teams trading to put those players together then I have no problem. But, when those players say to each other I'm not going to play hard for this team bc they have no chance of winning (which many have done and some players to their credit manage not to do and continue playing very hard even though they don't want to play with their current team) and demand and/or recruit other players to go play for another team that they all want to go to in order to play together THEN and THERE is where the problem is.
@lukekylestanley40727 жыл бұрын
Why don't we just have a league where all the players sign on a sheet where and who they want to play with and the players who don't get their names listed the most are kicked out the league because nobody wants to play with them or have them on their team?

Max is delusional. Grant even said his roll on the Bulls was to play defense and rebound. His quote was "put on my hard hat and go to work. He was never a star in the NBA. He was a very good roll player everywhere he went. And I love him, bu the way. One of my favorite Bulls.
@dmac42785 жыл бұрын
The Bulls were not a super team they drafted and developed Jordan Pippen and Grant surrounded them with solid role players and won 3 rings. They then came back and won more championships adding Rodman who's only jobs were rebound and defend they had big name players but they were not a dream team. Hell the showtime Lakers as good as they were would not be considered a super team they were built from the bottom up, that is the difference. The Lebron heat and Lakers are guys all saying hey let's get together be unbeatable and win a championship you're great I'm great let's all be great on the same team and we will roll over everyone its bush league and its weak and for players as great great as Lebron and KD it's sad and its weakens the legacy of what could have been

Max is right. Horace was a two-way star in his role. Plus 50 % FG, double digit points, around 10 rebounds per, a key part of the bulls defense. And: Horace kept the Bull's locker room together, taking the edge off Jordan's bull shit. If Draymond's a star for the Dubs, Horace was a star for the Bulls. Facts! U can argue that when Rodman came and thet got Harper that there were a super team but not the first 3 . Rodman was already 34-35 years old when he came though and Harper came over in his 12th season an averaged 6 points but he's a really smart defensive player. Those 2 players were passed their prime
