It occurs to me after listing to Steve Winwood all these years how sincere and humble he as is a songwriter. You can see it in his face during this whole PBS performance how it's not his showmanship that's important, but actually getting each song's message out to the audience. Maybe it's this intent that makes him so good at everything he touches.

I challenge anyone to find Steve doing a bad version of this incredible song - it's simply impossible. I've had the privilege of seeing Steve about a dozen times, including with Jim Capaldi in 1994, and the man never ceased to blow me away. I'm forever grateful for his music.

"Home" is a place, a not only a dwelling. But, a place in your own heart and mind. If a person "can't find" that, nobody else can "help" them find it. They have to, then, "build" their own "home", where they want it, with what "furnishings" or people they want in it. That's the next best thing that they can do. Some people, though, think of themselves at "home" no matter where they go, because no matter where they are, they know that THEY (THEMSELVES) will be the same, for that person, I guess they, themselves, or the way in which they "see the world" IS their true home, not a mere place, but somewhere IN themselves, in their own mind. My philosophy of this tune, for what it's worth. IMHO. 🙂
@solworx2 жыл бұрын
Resonating. Thanks for sharing. My two more cents : Being lost is NOT bad/evil like the prodigal son coming back home post being lost, its staying lost and not trying that affects the Heart-mind-body complex consciousness. Submitting to the already ever present unity flow IS the home which doesn't have to be found but be surrendered through by grace or effortless effort. That's our 4 cents for what it's worth

Steve's musical out-put has alway's been impeccable , that being said , I had felt for the longest time that these offerings here from this PBS 2005 stuff was in some way a glimpse of Steve's earlier self . A side of him from before his solo career began .A side from before a point of seasoned maturity , When he took more of a stance in contribution and exploration into the great unkown as compared to endorsing a perspective based on self.The self image of the solo career carried on after it began and attached itself to all even though the veteran stood practically from the beginning .I thought perhaps in some way that there was a revisit of a sense of exploring into a fresh unknown once again here.
