This is exactly what I needed. I think my problem was a clogged pump. I tore it down per this video, gave everything a good cleaning, and all is now well. Thanks for the video.

Everything on my 230 was just as you showed. My problem ended up being fine saw dust clogging the intake side of the oil pump. Thanks to the video I had the confidence to try taking the thing apart.

Hi Andy. You saved me a lot of time, and money, as I would not have been able to fix my blocked oil pump feed without this video. I did wonder what you meant by the verb "to flirtle off", though. However, I soon found out when I didn't use the box spanner to re-fit the circlip onto the drive shaft! The resulting high-velocity flirtle was an important learning experience for me! Thanks for these videos.

So these saws have the same design as the ms 180, 210 and 250. I hate these designs because you have take the wholesale apart to get to the oil pump. I like my pro saws, because on them you just have to take the clutch and sprocket off to get to the oil pump.

Good job.Has an oil pump ever worn out or failed in any way. My logic is it a piss poor design prone to clogging. I regrettably have 2 stihl saws that I have to maintain vs. my old Poulan that`s been working for 30yrs. without any maintenance except 1 carb kit.
