For the advertisement you put in prior to the drive? If so, KZbin is getting a bit ridiculous.
@TheSmokingTire8 жыл бұрын
not for the ad itself, which is fine. It was because the ad used "advertiser supplied footage." Basically it was too professional looking of an ad. If i'm going to do native ads they have to be fairly ghetto looking and consist of footage created entirely by me, according to ToS.

I was able to realize the dream of my teenage years and get a nearly identical NSX myself about a year ago. One owner car with 47k mi. I agree with most of the things said in the video. Taking the interior apart to fix the CCU and radio isn't that big of a job and everything goes back together well. On the track the car understeers quite a bit at the limit and rolls excessively all of which could be easily fixed with a set of spring, bars, and dampers. I plan to keep the car totally stock. It's my favorite car to drive in the rain because of the low Cg and excellent rear traction. It's a great to drive on the road.

I was recently asked if I won the lottery what cars would I buy first and I honestly answered an S2k then NSX then a EP2 Civic Type R then to finish it off a imported FD2 in white with white wheels. I never even thought how much I loved Hondas until I was asked that question though. I mean the latest Civic Type R would probably have to be bought, but I still don't really think of that as a Honda...it's just my favourite of the current hot hatches and I see huge power upgrades being viable a few years down the line.

Question: how much better is the NSX compared to S2000 relative to their price? I feel the NSX is getting a classic status rather quickly (deservedly so) and they're not getting cheaper. If we disregard the drop top experience (which I like), is NSX much better then the S2000? Story time: I remember going to the local auto show with my dad (it was a big deal, wasn't many of em here back then). There were shiny lambos and a mclaren SLR inside but the one I liked most was an old red NSX on the parking lot, a bit dirty and covered in leaves. Still one of my favorite supercars of all time. Don't exactly know why.
@Zygrene8 жыл бұрын
I'm working on a video for my channel discussing that exact topic. Filmed it with a drone for the first time!
@Elephant_Thoughts8 жыл бұрын
I think the price difference between the NSX and S2000 is justifiable. If you look at a bit of the NSX characteristics, it was first to feature an all-aluminium body so she won't rust, the design is simply timeless, it utilize previous technologies that Honda was using but re-purpose them to give a thrilling experience while all along stamping the meaning quality and usability. Now in my opinion the S2000 did rightfully inherit the essence and purpose of the NSX by using simplicity technology to give a thrilling experience. As far as design goes, well it looks like a Honda at time but I wouldn't say its timeless like the NSX. Here is a good way to look at these two; Honda made the NSX so good and tasteful, they could of just made the NSX a direct competitor to the Porsche 911 and made multiple reiterations of it like Porsche did over the years for their 911; the Honda S2000 is a like Porsche Boxer S or Porsche 718 Boxer. That's the best way in my opinion to describe the relationship between the Honda NSX and S2000.
@ImLeuff8 жыл бұрын
Zygrene Thanks, looking forward to it! Elephant Good write up. HOWEVER* the price difference is increasing. Yes, NSX is better and certainly more desirable but the question is how much better and desirable? You might be willing to pay 10 grand more. Or 20. Or 30. At a certain point you have to draw the line and say "OK, I love the NSX but it's not worth the price difference". I'm wondering what that price difference should be and since mr Zygrene owned them both it will be interesting to hear
@LapoftheWorld8 жыл бұрын
The answer to you question is "It depends" :). If you're looking for lap times to the exclusion of all else, the S2000 is WAY better value in that regard. Pick up a cosmetically challenged one for under 10k, ad 5k of suspension/wings/tires, go run down stock Z06s at the track. If you're looking for a real "ownership experience" while still being able to keep a Cayman S honest on a track, the NSX is brilliant. Vs. the S2K: Because it has appreciable torque, it's easier to drive casually (around town), because it's roomier, has a bigger trunk, and can be very comfortable, it's easier to road-trip in. It will fit in at any meet this side of a lowrider cruise, and with very few "reliability mods" and maintenance will last forever with very little grief, and most of the grief is known-quantity and readily correctable through a strong aftermarket. -Source: NSX owner pushing 257,000 miles on a stock-ish '92 that I track the snot out of.
@Elephant_Thoughts8 жыл бұрын
***** The price increase comparable to the old Porsche 911s; at first, they were in the toilet but once people saw how godly the cars were, the price rose like birthday cake in the oven. The NSX was the same way, and its definitely going to increase because the new NSX is nothing like the first gen and so the first gen is one of its kind and symbolism of what Honda will never go back to again. So the price justification is also feeding off of what Honda's history and mentality use to be as well.

(Also Direzza ZIIs are great, one of the few 200tw tires that actually can last the stated length, I have the Star Spec versions on my Fiesta ST and they're great.)
@BESIMXCARS8 жыл бұрын
I love my ZII's so far, I bought them for the life everyone states they have. I really didn't want to buy a set of 200tw tires that wear out halfway through a season.
@rfouR_48 жыл бұрын
***** yeah because of AutoX tons of 200tw tires that are totally bullshit. Basically R compounds with more grooves. ZIIs indeed aren't like that. And the star specs improved on that tread wear and offered improved performance and faster coming to temp. Brilliant for a daily driver.
@rfouR_48 жыл бұрын
***** Except the ZIIs are in a category above the PSS in terms of performance. Don't get me wrong, yes the PSS are great on certain cars, but they offer too soft of a sidewall IMHO for a car of this nature, and they're not as quick around a track. As it seems he takes this NSX on given the icon picture of the video (looks like Laguna Seca). The PSS are the BEST ~300tw tire, but the Dunlop Direzza ZII Star Spec are essentially the Pilot Super Sports of the ~200tw extreme summer class (outside of the tires like the RE71R and V720 that are falsely advertised). They're close to the Pilot Cup 2s than the PSS.

Bunch of followers in my eyes. Where were you ALL in the 90's and early 2000's when only a select few loved the NSX? You all put the car down for various reasons. Now that people are liking it, you ALL jump on the band wagon. Lemmings. Short sighed. I am happy people NOW see what I and a few others have loved about the NSX for the past 25 years. To bad you never gave it a chance until now. Don't always follow people! Don't always go with the crowd. - Owner of 4 NSX's. I owned 3 during the 1990's and the last one in 2003.
@MrProteinK8 жыл бұрын
There's also a lot of younger people never had a chance of owning them who now do. They are even affordable, but who knows how long that will last.

Your like the people who call out bandwagons on sports teams. It's never been that serious my man. "I liked the team before anyone else did, I'm better than you, please praise me!"
@Revitalyzed8 жыл бұрын
It's not jumping on the bandwagon, it's people finding out about it. I didn't know about the NSX till 2004. I was born in '96. Also, there's a difference between jumping on the bandwagon and generally wanting to know more about a car. For example: I knew about the 2nd gen Eclipse for a long time. But it wasn't until the late 2000's that I wanted to know more about DSMs, maintenance on the 4G63, the history etc. Just because you are older than the majority of Matt's viewers doesn't make you any better than us. So you owned 4 NSX's and 3 of them being in the 90's. Congrats? I could buy an NSX now if I wanted to. It's not about when you owned one, it's about owning one. Plain and simple. You could be an 18 year-old who just got his license and pick up an NSX without no extensive knowledge on the car. It's not a big deal buddy.

@AldrichQuaiHoi8 жыл бұрын
You could keep it stock, but if you do want to mod it without supercharges and all forced induction and keep it NA, go ITB setup with aftermarket ecu, it's already got titanium internals so it would be sweet, plus it would rev higher and go much nicer, high flow exhaust would also make it scream, though these are still expensive from Toda etc. but you could always revert it back to stock configuration. Def one on my list of to get, looking for a 92-93 R the original R almost impossible to find !

Same goes for other cars like GC8 STi RA (the rally Group N models with all the good bits like quick steering rack and DCCD, even the roof vent!), STi Spec C etc. Accord Type R and Accord Euro R can be registered in NZ, whilst they aren't allowed for import/registration in Australia too.

One of my friends had one of these, I had a 1991 Corvette ZR-1. We never got to settle it! Maybe you could? The ZR-1 came with a Lotus designed, Mercruiser built, four valve, twin fuel injector motor. I installed Flow Master tips and she sounded like a turbine. "Those were the Days."

I loved the C4 ZR1. Back in the day those things were fast as fuck. They hold up too, actually. One of those is a solid performance bargain and possible long-term collector piece today, especially the later 94-95 models.
