Going with that, he could have given it back to Bret or not won it earlier. He was precious with the title. It could've easily bounced between them more, if Shawn was so selfish. Probably comes down to the era they both broke in on, where the man would have the title for very long stretches, and once you lose it you were unlikely to ever get it back.

I got to see Steve Austin wrestle HBK at a house show in late August 1996. I just turned 11 and this was the first time I got to see WWF live. I do remember the whole crowd was very much behind HBK. I took pictures of the event and don’t remember seeing one Austin 3:16 sign or T-shirt but again, I was only 11 at the time.

Seeing some weird similarities between Austin and Undertaker. @@ComicBookGuy420 I watched both as a kid,but was introduced to WCW 1st...wasn't much of a fan of the idea that both TNT and USA would be showing wrestling at the same time tho,my poor VHS tapes😓

As a 15-19 year old too c this guys rise and Wrestling in general was awesome. Seriously he saved the WWF and within 2 years other mega stars arrived. Late 96 as a youth n fan u cud sense a big change in the way Wrestling was going. WCW tbh pushed the wwf but both ripped ECW. Awesome days.

I remember watching him wrestle in WCW back in the early 90s as Stunning Steve Austin on TV. ITV had the rights and would show it at 1am.
