When you’re giving the dogs “treats” in this video, are they just bits of regular dog food? I’m trying to train my 9 week old puppy and that seems like A LOT of treats. His stomach would get upset from too much of that

@peterharper97035 жыл бұрын
Stonnie Dennis He know a lot of commands......like you say it is different when there are distractions.... I think he does really well. I had to put down my service dog who I had for 5 years. I had help training him though Sherries Project: Wounded Warrior Pack. The PTSD training really was who he was as a dog. It was natural for him and course the pack bond helped too. He was a Shelter rescue 50% Black Labrador retriever, 25% Rottweiler, 20% Whippet, 5% unknown. This Dog has genetics of an awesome working dog. He is a Working GSD breed Not the sloped show GSD. My hope was he would be a little more sturdy. I guess at 9 weeks now I’m attempting to give my words meaning and still have fun. I’m trying to take advantage of his fearlessness now in hopes for building blocks later for Service Dog training. As the last video I watched genetics, education, and management; MY question is how will training change as the dog gets older? My dog now Twilight Justice (Twilight) will be my own first puppy. I was to be the Dad & Mom for him. Maybe with Twilight’s help I can learn more how not to be “Stuck” running combat missions in Iraq....... and live in the moment. Thanks again!

@@11kwright They say a Mongrel makes the best dog here in the UK too.... I believe as they are a mongrel they don't hold the 100%'ness (if that could ever be a word) of there characteristics... So they are easier to train as they are not as aggressive, not as stubborn, not as much tunnel vision etc.... I could be totally wrong of course ;)
@Jefferdaughter5 жыл бұрын
The mongrel appears to be a little older than the Malanois pups, and it has more life experience having come from the pound, so it makes sense that the mixed-breed would be a little better at climbing over the obstacles. "Better' is a relative term. Better at what? Better for what?

My very first dog was an 8 week old pit bull--such a breeze to train, mostly. Greatest dog ever. Second dog was a 2 Ish year old pit mix. It was at this point that I realized how different dogs could be. Great dog, despite her previous life having to have had trauma in it. I just brought home a 10 week old pit bull puppy a week or so ago---OMG... I'm a little concerned about this one. While she is still very young and we are just getting started, she is a hellion. Hi Stonnie, your video helps to explain my Belgian Malinois. We rescued him at about 8 months old from a kill-shelter. He learns quickly and is highly intelligent. Perhaps as a puppy, this is how he was trained and then somewhere along the line, he ended up in the shelter 2x before we adopted him. But it makes total sense now why he always follows my hands when I am teaching him new commands.
@Richard-jf8pb6 жыл бұрын
'' We rescued him at about 8 months old from a kill-shelter.'' ''...and then somewhere along the line, he ended up in the shelter 2x before we adopted him.'' The shelter stuff is so self indulgent, unnecessary and not related to the dog following your hand whatsoever but ok, I get it you adopted a dog, not rescued a dog, unless you went through a fire and saved him or something. You could have sum it up with just ''Perhaps as a puppy, this is how he was trained '' which is the ONLY thing which has ANYTHING to do with the subject in question.

hey Stonnie, love your vids and along with House of the Dragon, and Andor, I've been binging the last few weeks :) Anyway, I read the following on Vets4Pets and I simply can't believe it true.. Surely, this can't be right, can it? Puppy Playing with Toys "High-speed turning and stopping isn’t great for any dog’s joints, but especially not for growing puppy joints. Try to find other games to play until your puppy is fully grown. Even then, it’s much better for dogs who like to chase and retrieve toys, to teach them to wait until you’ve thrown the toy and it’s stopped moving, before you let them run out to get it."
