I'll have to look into this for my Lab! My husband and I were going to send our dog to training school for two months, but with Covid, unfortunately in my state, training was cancelled. We just want a happy and healthy relationship with our lab. I was reading your info and read that this online program is for dogs under 5 months? Is that correct?

Winnie and I would watch the Stonnie videos as part of our morning routine. I was looking for some help with puppy biting and found Stonnie’s commentary interesting and insightful. If you want to immediately correct your dog’s rude behavior and have more positive experiences with your dog then Better Call Stonnie or “Cameraman”. There is no substitution to experience- by-doing. Thank you so much Stonnie and Amy.

Stonnie this is one of your best videos. Having owners do the course really helps us see the communication we give to dogs. Then entire time i kept yelling loosen the leash! No criticism to the owners, we all do these things not realizing. The owners were very brave to put themselves out there for us to learn. Thank you!!

Great job making this video, Stonnie. This is a good teaching video. You make this obstacle course look easy, but it's not. There are so many small details that could go wrong for a novice owner. Sometimes, I think it's easier to train the dogs than the owners. "The dog's bored because you are boring." Haha, so little words, so on point.

Don't forget to mention that you tell the dog what you want by guiding them with your body? Specifically your leg. So you are creating the feeling of a corridor in the dog's mind. The handler is on the dog's right side and pushes the dog with their left leg placement.

Do you have a video I can watch to help me with my dog? Thank you. Also!! I trained my dog to use my treadmill. He walks perfectly by my side when we are on the treadmill, but pulls on leash when outside. I can't walk him outside (husband does) but I know how smart labs are, I just need help, for my safety and dog's too! I did read your info about online training. For dogs under 5 months?

I am the owner / handler of an English Lab who has done Obedience, Rally, Agility, and Retrieving trials and is presently into Barn Hunt and Scent detection. No, not really. Think of dog training service providers as being broken down into two, basic, categories: dog centric and non dog centric. A dog centric dog trainer looks at training as a social or vocational activity and trains with very specific goals in mind. Non dog centric dog trainers looks at training as simply a way to help pups mature into well rounded companions who can successfully navigate the challenges of day to day life. Maybe a better way to put it is dog training as a hobby vs. dog training as a way to help the dog learn to tag along with the owner while the owner does fun stuff. I'm in the latter group.
@mikesmith3588
@mikesmith3588 3 жыл бұрын
@@StonnieDennis I guess I look at it more like I am the one who tags along while my dog gets to do fun stuff. Hiking or going to some kind of Dog event... those are the good days, Training is just having the co-operation to accomplish that.

ENTHUSIASM!!!! that's the world you're looking for. Dogs follow a strong happy energy. I think u should walk the owners around the course a little and teach them inflection. They are a little unsure still. I can see it. If they are unsure, then the dog will be same way. You ALWAYS want to be the most exciting thing out there. They naturally gravitate towards something exciting and rewarding. Make yourself more valuable and they will be more attentive and happy to be with you. Not to mention, eager to please. I think they should also learn how to be more fluid in their body movements. Bend into those turns effortlessly and not let the dog get too ahead of u. I use my hand as a stop sign. When the the hand is out, everything comes to a stop!! They have to be ready to bring that hand up one step before they actually need it. That way, the timing is correct. Just my experience. You're a great teacher, I'm sure with a little practice, they will develop a feel for it.. Very sweet dog, once everyone falls into line, I think they will all be very happy. After all, they did bring the dog to u, so they must be good people 😊🤞👍👏
