Dude thank you so much for doing this. I literally was doing every single thing wrong. I thought I was supposed to Be doing the opposite of the way you taught. Trying to pull myself only straight up and down. Focusing on a straight line of movement. Keeping my elbows back. Engaging my biceps. This video is so unbelievably helpful. I've tried several times to learn to do a muscle up and didn't feel like the pull ups I was doing were getting me any closer but your video made it click in my head for the first time in years. I totally get what I need to do now and I genuinely believe I will be able to reach my goal now because of this video. Thank you very much for putting this info out there.

this is going to help you for front lever/ front lever pull ups down the road as well, because most people tend to protract their scapula and not keep a flat back due to trap weakness, even leading to shoulder injury, while arch back pull ups really activate the traps well and prepare them for the front lever

It is 2 years that I do pull-ups (well not just pull-ups) and I can also do some sort of knee kip assisted BMU, but I keep coming back to the basics every once in a while to make sure that I am not neglecting some fundamentals as I move forward. Like I just noticed that the pull-ups holds that Chris recommends will have a good transfer value to front lever raises, and hence to FL holds. What a great teacher and inspiration. True legend. He changed my life.

Great point made in this vid. Already implementing the tips put forth in this routine. Low rep range together with maximum focus in best form available is paying off slowly yet relentlessly. A special mention goes to activating the right muscle groups in the back, not easy in the beginning but through constant work and proper mind muscle connection the whole thing is starting to work out. It will be a while before I ever start pulling as high as you do in the vid but I'm outright excited to eventually be walking down the right path this time. Thanks for pointing us out purposefully down the right direction. The subject of your vids always sizzling hot as it should ever be!!!!.

I started lifting weights two years ago. Started seeing good gains. But I was shocked when I found out I couldn't do a single pull up anymore without feeling like I'm gonna snag my shoulder. So here I am. Your pull up videos are awesome, I feel like I'm learning how to do them all over again, but properly this time. :)

@ce1474
@ce1474 3 жыл бұрын
Tbh, I didn't find it that bad. The hernia way engages more powerful muscles, it's a stronger movement once you get used to it. I've been doing vertical for years now
@johnnespino
@johnnespino 3 жыл бұрын
@@ce1474 I did these for a while and I realised if I was training for power then I would definitely start doing pull-ups like this more. The reason I stopped is because you lose complete back engagement once you go past the nipple line. It's mostly forearm and bicep engagement at that point. I'd say from a strength and muscle building perspective, I wouldn't really stick with this in my routine, especially if you're doing them so quick that you're not taking time to do them slow and controlled AKA time under tension.
@ce1474
@ce1474 3 жыл бұрын
@@johnnespino agreed, that was my initial impression. I may work in some hernia pull ups now and then, but I can still see benefits in doing them vertical
