As someone with a 5 month old border collie, I really appreciate this video. I get tired of people telling me “they are high energy! Gotta keep em busy!” It’s such a myth. She doesn’t need that much really. Couple walks a day, some fun playtime in the house, and fun ways to eat her food. Otherwise, she spends the rest of her time chilling. Thanks for the “dead toy” tip! I was wondering about that 😊

AMAZING VIDEO!! Please do a video of how to handle the Winter in Canada, there are many issues like walks on the snow, playtime outside, etc I have a border collie, it's tough to give theme enough during warm weather, now winters... - can't have the 30m to 40m walks that I usually do twice a day with my dog - can't play outside in the grass field, it's all snow - indoor activities don't seem like it's ever enough - my dog is almost 1.5years old at this point

I'm not in Canada, but Michigan... having an in with some horse boarding barns that have indoor arenas that is a great option for active play. Indoor pet friendly malls can be great for walks, the local one near me is the spot on winter mornings for people getting their steps in and tiring out young kids.

I'm Alberta I know winters very well. There are dog businesses that offer indoor arenas that you can rent for an hour

I pick up my four month old puppy today and proper exercise is one of my biggest uncertainties. I just went from fostering an eight year old big boy and him and I went on hikes all the time. Great walks and yard play during the week and hikes on the weekends. I have to check myself with this puppy cuz I just wanna jump straight back into that kind of stuff but I don’t want to push her too much too early. Any advice on duration/distance recommendations, terrain consideration, and anything else that would be helpful to know 🙏😂

Here in Australia when the outside temperature is 30+ I see people walking their dogs in the heat, and burning their paws. I walk my dog during the cooler hours in the evening.

Working dogs especially are (or used to be)bred for stamina and drive.... sometimes to their own detriment 😢

Spaying and neutering is BAD for your dog. Imagine taking all the hormones out of a human body pretty much instantly and not replacing them. Imagine removing a man's testicles or a woman's ovaries and not giving them home replacement therapy afterwards. What happens to an older person after menopause their bones get brittle their muscles lose their strength. It's the same thing with the dog. It would be much better to give a male dog a vasectomy and a female dog a tubal ligation. Instead of total sterilization.

Some good and some strange advice. “Stop at 5” How do get your dog faster, stronger and better stamina, if you don’t let your dog get tiered?
