Those seven and a half minutes were just the purest gold training wise that i‘ve heard in a long time. Matt should write all this down in a book and offer seminars on this topic!

I hope here then for two things: 1st That it is going to be a paperback (soft or hardcover doesn‘t matter). And 2nd that it is going to be the conjugate method meets block periodization Wenning Style. I have Issurin’s Block Periodization 1 & 2, Verkhoshansky‘s Supertraining & Special Strength Training: Manual for Coaches, all books from Louie Simmons and Matts book would be here the evolutionary missing link which would complete this collection.

I always enjoy your No BS talks on here, thanks again. I was just reading about Anthony Ditillo's partner Dezso Ban and the volume of training he used. very seldom maxxed out, but tons of sets of 3s to 5s with high percentages on push, pull & press compound moves training 6 days a week, drug free. Insane

i think that meant to leave maybe 1 or 2 reps in the tank while using load in the 90% of your max. And do that for a number of set that YOU could recuperate from. It's something we all have to figure out for ourself.

@@maxiedevine1354 worthwhile noting he means (more) 90% or 9/10 effort rather than 90% of a 1RM. Basically, you want to work up to something heavy with little stimulation and perform the rep well with minimal technical breakdown rather than busting out the nose tork and blowing out every blood vessel in your face.

@@Dr_Footbrake Semantics here, but given they're both from Westside and conversing about the max effort method, I think he is referencing 90% loads rather than RPE here. That being said, a well versed trainee's RPE SHOULD match percentages fairly decently, but leaving things to a subjective measure can end up being a problem depending upon the lifter.
