Hi, I’m struggling with my current study method for oral exams. I prepare by creating 10-15 sub-questions for each main exam question. However, during the exam, we receive only the main question (e.g., 'What were the key factors that led to the fall of Constantinople in 1453?'). Without the sub-questions to guide me, I can't remember all the details (I become reliant on the sub-questions), and ultimately I fail the exam. I study law, and in my country of the 33 classes that I have over the course of 4 years, there is only 2 or 3 written exams. Most exams are based on 3 questions that you draw out of a pile, or the professor asks you, and then you take some blank papers and write a concept for those questions which you then explain to the professor. Since I rely on the sub-questions when I review what I learn, when I see the main question my mind goes blank and I can't reproduce the matter. For some exams you draw out 3 questions out of 100 questions, there could be exams where there are 180 total questions, 300 total questions and so on (some exams have midterms which reduce the number of total questions you have to learn for the exam).What should I do to fix this? I am really lost, and don't know what to do.

Could you do a video on explaining why you put arrows this way in a mind map? Is it because of certain words in the text or the info you find on the subject How you layer information and why is it in layer 1, 2, 3 ? Do you use only why and how questions for your recall Q‘s?
@zain_asif5 ай бұрын
I'll be making a detailed videos on improving mindmap making skills. For now, the arrows link different parts of a process, they help categorise types of something, they relate two concepts due to a similarity they share. (so based on info) Layer 1,2,3 is easiest to explain. In reality every topic has several layers. But the point is not the specific layer quantity. It's the idea of starting with the most basic information and BUILDING up the knowledge. Rather than linear reading. I would suggest using explain, describe, analyse, name this many. And a variety. But a lot of the time yes it just ends up being what, how, why to be honest.

For sure.... I focused on the use of KZbin to watch study videos instead of taking improving your studying by taking action. Only by taking action, finding purpose and autonomy and making this your own process, will you be able to "quit" or reduce time on KZbin. You'll want to refocus on the more important things. But if you do want a video on improving attention span and me addressing the problem of being stuck on KZbin watch this- kzbin.info/www/bejne/o56To3ljqc-JhNk (it's more specific for you requested :))

On one screen? Is that what you mean. I'm on mac so I can just put them on splitview. On windows, you can position them half half on your desktop. There's probably applications too.

can you please make a video on improving handwriting because it plays a crucial role in our exams and scoring marks and how to answer the questions to save time in a 3-hour exam while maintaining good handwriting because at the end of the exam, we write like crap because of hand pain, my exams start on 19th Aug, thanks in advance, great content BTW 😊

He may not be able to get a video out so quickly, but some tips I supposed are not to hold your pen too close to the end, write as little as possible (the less words you write, the more it adds up and you find yourself able to write more) it helps to learn properly what you're studying so you are not writing paragraphs and paragraphs of stuff that might not even get marks, get a flowy pen instead of a scratchy ballpoint so you use less pressure, and do some hand stretches while you think about a question if possible
@zain_asif5 ай бұрын
Great tips ^ I have absolutely no tricks to improve handwriting tbh, haven't done those exams in a long long time.

Content is fire bro🔥, question, How can I study and learn From A video where it’s just a person talking there’s no lecture slides or anything?
@zain_asif5 ай бұрын
You use textbooks and internet resources to create a basic understanding for the topic. Make a mindmap too ideally. Then watch the video and convert the information from the videos to questions so that you can test yourself on it later. The source for your revision depends where your exam is made from. If the questions are made from those videos, then focusing on understanding what the guy is saying and creating the questions is vital. If it's from a textbook, then you focus on that obv. Hope that helped :)

Can you please define what conceptual links/relationships/making connections between information is
@zain_asif5 ай бұрын
It's relating two concepts by finding the similarities and differences between them. For example, two diseases affect the same organ but attack different parts of it. That's me relating the two diseases together. Their lab tests might be the same but treatment may be completely different. Again relating more details about them together. If you read about them in isolation, it's a lot harder to actually create a good basic understanding for them. If you learn them together, constantly compare them, you'll not only relate the NEW knowledge you're learning to those initial basic relations, but you'll remember them better too. Applies to any topic or concepts. Make sense?

@@zain_asif Just dealing with course assignments. Eg having a 50% paper due in 4 weeks. Research based. I'm usually given a problem.. I'm given a problem. I need to research it and write a 2-3k word essay figuring out the issue and generating a solution. its in the week it's due there like 4 other exam happening on the same day as the due date. I need to work on my outlining and editing. The general feedback is that while my insights are pretty good, my writing is unorganized. Also I need to make a lot of simple writing mistakes the discredit my writing. What has been your process for writing? Like the study suggestions your using seem like they are most applicable for MCQ based exams but what if the exams are for written paper or a presentation?
