I agree, its hard not to fall for this to go for the popular. I ended up being a huge vintage Seiko fan and I wanted a Submariner but went vintage Tudor Submariner just to not be an average Rolex type guy.

There is a difference between watch collectors, and those who wear watches as a symbol of status. If a collector, you look for the story, the less obvious choice. I probably fall in the latter, but find interest in some of these pieces.

I have mint condition Citizen Hi Line gold plated from 1963. What makes it so compelling besides the condition, is that its 37.5mm. uncommon for that era. Average person doesnt care but when i walk into a watch shop i often get questions about it.

Man I was just thinking about this. I bought so many hype watches. Some were cool, a lot I sold. Stumbled across the Breitling Avenger B01 Chronograph 44 Nightmission and fell in love. Struggled to find any info about this model, no reviews on KZbin. It ended up being up being a perfect watch for me. I still have my datejust, bluesy, and tank, but those barely get any wear these days.

95 per cent of 'collectors' are copying others: mimetic desire. Most people have no criteria for choosing pieces in their 'collections' beyond what the online spaces (YT/reddit) expect.

Stopping wearing that everyone owns following by the wxplanation that people wear same APs with different dial different material… that’s virtually impossible to do that. Every single watch in the market has some sort of similarities in a way. You merely think it is unique but looking at the watches in your collection can also be found from any other brands (even in a the same brand sometimes), through out the history and so on…

Honestly this is boring and I love vintage watches. This was not the best curation by style.

Most videos on vintage watches are boring, but this wasn't one of them. It was the opposite of boring. "Curation by style" is boring. But why bother to comment if for whatever reason it didn't inspire you? It implies an agenda, or else that it triggered you in some way.

@@neil4701 if i were to die tomorrow i have zero regrets not wearing any of these vintage watches. You should try looking at better vintage but based on your comment you probably keep it safe and enjoy older version of omega speedmaster 🤮

@@productionoutages You are the classic malcontent who is all negativity and no substance. You offer dislike without elaboration. You talk about "better vintage watches" without explaining what (and why) you think "better vintahge watches" are. Pointless and intellectually degenerate.

Couldn't agree more. While I have many branded watches, the one I wear most is one of 2 pieces that I assembled myself. All while I am still waiting for an opportunity to buy a rolex that I have been wanting for a really long time. Frustrates me that I'm not able to buy one from the AD and same time not willing to feed greedy flippers and grey market resellers of their ridiculously high markups over official retail price
