Beginning at the grand Palladian-style house, join me as I explore the many acres of stunning landscaped gardens and also the wider estate, finishing at the great folly dedicated to King Alfred The Great.

Hi just catching up with your lovely videos, we thats my brother his wife and friend would drive us to many of the locations you visit during the 80s, Stourhead was a favorite place,some parts you have been we did not see perhaps because we liked a beer in the Spread Eagle pub. There is an interesting bit of history as it was where David Niven spent his time whilst in the services,in fact we were sat by a window and saw his name scratched into one of the old glass panes,something I thought may interest you, linked to this we used to camp in the 90s at a pub in Wiltshire called the Golden Swan Hilcott, we set off on a ghost walk one night and ended up at the village church an elderly gentleman appeared heading our way, striking up a conversation we were to learn that David Nivens wife was secretly buried in this very grave yard..odd things ehh atb Tom.

Wow, that's really uncanny! Stourhead is a wonderful place with so much to see. I did see the Spread Eagle Pub, but sadly, didn't stop in. Maybe next time! Thanks for watching. 🙂

Another great walk...all those grottos and grand buildings, Henry must have had money coming out of his ears. That's the second video I've watched this week with a plague stone...hope it's not an omen. Congrats on hitting 406! You deserve it for putting out fab content! 😊

Thanks, David, for your continued support! Fingers crossed, we won't be needing the plague stone anytime soon! 😆 Henry Hoare came from a family of very wealthy bankers, so yep, they sure liked to splash the cash! Thanks again 🙂

A great video. Stourhead is so lovely and you showed it off magnificently. There are ghost stories associated with the Stourton family but not exactly at Stourhead.
