He doesn’t need a “good basis” and anyone can preach religious scripture because he has a 1st amendment right, just like we do. Pride aka Stonewalls anniversary WAS A RIOT/PROTEST. That’s why it’s been the 4th Saturday of June for many but not all cities since, it’s not June by random. If younger folks don’t even know that, why do we need it? It’s clear we have gotten to a point of acceptance where it’s becoming entitled. We wanted marriage, not for the right to unhurt feelings. Live and let live.

Aloha Matt. After watching this post, the first thing that came to mind was, "Modern-day Martin Luther King Jr." As religious as I believe I am, I am not a preacher and would never preach my religious beliefs as if to convert anyone. I may have shared with you before. I attended my first Gay Pride Parade in October 2021, and recently volunteered at PrideFest a few days ago. Support is important, and there are many individuals that need support even if they say they don't or do not want it. I choose to support from afar because there are times when my best intentions, make a mess of things. Disagreements are necessary, and it is what happens after a disagreement that will either strengthen or end, a relationship. I have always told me, "You do not have to understand me, I just hope you respect me." Great post, Matt, and always looking forward to your thoughts. "teardrops"

I have a similar message as well. “Don’t judge me until you know me; to know me is to understand me”. Everyday I evaluate myself daily and learn about myself. I am bisexual and may be leaning more towards gay. But bi at the moment. But I too am a Christian. I’m not religious or anything. I was very active in church growing up and attended bible college( 2 years). I installed in me a lot of what I believed was right. Biblically speaking. To my Christian circle I wanted to have a certain image of myself. All along I instilled these things in me because I cared about what they thought and not what I wanted. Don’t get me wrong, I have very good morals and have build great character traits. Overall I am a decent person. But because of my deep rooted beliefs, better yet, what I was taught to believe, I am having trouble accepting who I am completely. Like I am not ashamed of my sexuality. My family knows and some of my friends. But I am still not there 100% I’m trying though. I know that God loves me for who I am and not what I do. That is evident because the Bible tells us that “while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” I know that but I can’t figure out why it is so hard to fully accept myself. I don’t have friends who I can talk to that can relate. I really don’t have many LGBT friends period. I have a couple but they come from different backgrounds and therefore can’t relate to how I feel. And ppl who I know are LGBT, I don’t have the confidence to go up and talk to them. It’s complicated. I’m trying to figure it out though but I can use so advice. Like I can write a book on my experiences and what all I’m struggling with inside. But I remain optimistic and keep a smile on my face. Listening to y’all really helps me. Thank you.

@@Tee90s Cool reply. The "Gay" community is tough even if they try to build awareness and acceptance. Then there is the community as a whole that may appear open-minded at times, however, we all have our personal prejudice, judgments, and bias. At the end of the day, continue to do what we believe is right, in hopes no one, including ourselves, is not hurt.

Straight Pride is literally everyday so no there is no need for it. What would be the exact basis when you don't have to suffer or die for just existing. When you automatically have a leg up just because of it. What is there to fight for when it's basically a given and is celebrated. Celebrate and love who your are and there is no problem with that just remember you never had to fight to get there to be even seen as a human being.

Okay first thing that stood out to me was that shirt. Where did you get that shirt? Its so cool. Ha ha! 😍 In regards to the topic of your video, once again you are spot on. Straight Pride is a f***ing joke. Its just a reactionary move primarily from bigots to counter or dismiss the progression of equaliy for us queer folk or as you put it being "Haters". "Straight Pride" is celebrated EVERYDAY in our society more to the point that LGBTQ+ Pride is needed to for us to remind ourselves that we matter and to take pride in that. Especially during these grim times that our country is currently facing. Also I would like that to add that Pride for us was first a protest for our right to exist as equal indivuduals in a prodominently straight society, before it was parade with all the glitz and glamour you see today. Both are great but it nice to remind ourselves of why me march and dawn the rainbow heavily once a year. 🌈

EXACTLY!!! Too many people have forgotten or are simply ignorant of the fact that 'PRIDE' started as a PROTEST against the dehumanizing treatment of LGBTQ+ people. It is more important than ever, in this time of renewed attacks on our community, that we acknowledge that pride is STILL a protest against our marginalization in society. Straight pride is an insulting joke!

Someone suggesting there be a "Straight Pride" doesn't yet understand the basis, origin or rationale for LGBTQ+ Pride. This community was/is marginalized and shamed for simply being who they are. I don't have any knowledge of this ever taking place in the heterosexual population, so I cannot understand the reasoning for "Straight Pride". I have heard many heterosexuals contend that their rights are being overshadowed by under-represented populations. To that I say: "Take a knee for a moment; take a backseat for a moment. You had the privilege of living shame-free for centuries. Have the grace to share the ability to live shame-free WITH others."

Neither do you, or you’d know Pride is the anniversary of stonewall which was a protest riot. Pride has always had counter protesters. Today in some cities it’s like one dude. Big deal. If one loses the right to assemble, we all do. 1st amendment. That’s the history of pride. Ignore them. Be proud.

You're so right Matt! As one of the other posts states, Straight pride is basically every day 24/7/. Religious people, for the most part, choose what they accept, and what they don't accept, from the Bible. For example, none, not one, of the 10 Commandments says anything about being Gay. However, one of the 10 Commandments is "Thou Shall Not Kill". And by the way, according to the Talmud and Midrash (ancient Hebrew texts from top biblical sages) commenting on the Torah (Bible), in addition to the Zohar, ancient Kabbalah text and wisdom, the act of humiliating someone, embarrassing someone, especially in public, causing them to get red in the face from embarrassment and humiliation, is in of itself, a form of murder. In other words, many (not all) people, who call themselves religious, are committing a grave sin before God.They are actually committing murder (also assassinating someone's character, taking away their livelihood, firing from a job because of being Gay, etc.) Love thy neighbor as thyself has no conditions or specifications! The homophobes go after Gay people because these homophobes have an ego based on personal agenda, i.e., they themselves don't want to be perceived as Gay if they are associated with someone who is, whether it be talking to them, sympathizing with them, whatever.

A lot of time people are trying to meet someone of the opposite gender or sharing about their straight lifestyle while us gays try to search the crowd for any "team mates" lool gay pride is the only gay-themed public event... a lot of straight people simply don't understand or don't want to understand that they have the whole cake without realizing it. We'll never know what it's like for the whole world to be a giant dating pool instead of a treasure hunt filled with hateful sharks
