Great vids as always! Small suggestion: for videos like these where you bust out the pad, have the pad ready to go for player 2. In doing so, you just pick up the pad and are able to demonstrate the input in the game. That's about it!

Nice. Good job. I have actually had this problem without even realizing it. Just thought I sucked with the stick and blame it on my poor fightstick skills. Charge tricks and knowing when to double tap/plink come to mind. Also, footsie strategies into these combos you keep bringing up.

when your showing the input "fast" with the walk forward, down back into fireball motion, you hit the punch on down forward, of course you'll get an uppercut.

I just ordered my first arcade stick ever and am really hyped, because I always wanted one but its hard to get one where I live. Can you do a quick tutorial on where and how to put your hand/fingers on the stick/buttons. When you show off stuff the motions are often too quick to realize what is happening if you dont know anything about it.

For c. MK > Hadoken, I usually go for diagonal back c. MK then roll into a quarter circle forward and it combos. It's definitely all just muscle memory tho!

One thing I've found really annoying is that charge inputs seem to take priority above other things. Two examples with Necalli that get me killed: - try to do far V-skill while holding charge. I'll be 3/4 screen and see Nash throw a Fierce boom, try to punish with V-skill, but get MP dash punch instead. - try to take a microstep (forward) grab out of block stun, get jab dash punch instead. One thing I'm actually impressed with is the lack of auto-correct on charge moves, I was worried that I would get jab dash punch on Nash/Dhalsim teleports instead of the proper jab punish.

hey man, love your videos and really appreciate all of your tutorials. I'm currently trying to pick up Alex but I'm used to playing Sim so the transition is really difficult. I was wondering if you had or are planning on making any videos on how to play certain characters, not combo videos but info on their general play style, like how to get in. what to do while pressured, how to set up a command grab etc. thanks in advance.

Vesper, can u make a video of how to learn to STOP DOING SPAMMY INPUT ... That'a a severe thing that I'm suffering from ... I.e. when I need to follow up a JUMP -> HP -> with MP or HP or whatever ... I hit the 2nd button 2 to 4 times, because that way it will connect for sure. The problem is that this messes up your timing on the special that you are about to do after and it totally backfires!

Every time that you double tapped the hadoken, the first P input was on the diagonal, but I guess that both the negative edge and (of course) the second input were correctly on or after the forward directional input. My problem in combos involving a confirm followed by a cancel is that (especially when agitated and online) I tend to press the input of the cancelled special before the directional input is complete. I tested that I can fix it 100% of the times by double tapping (or even simply tapping twice, literally), but I'm not sure it is a good idea to get this imprinted in my muscle memory. Any tip? Should I go on with the fix, and eventually clean up my input later?

What do people normally prefer while playing using ps4 controller: D-Pad or Analog stick??? And why? I play using joystick but sometimes I feel like I input lots of extra inputs which messes the combos.
@real765rp8
@real765rp8 9 жыл бұрын
D-pad since it gives you direct feedback (you sense the directional buttons). the analogue sticks on Controllers are better for games where you need sth between no button press and full button press (racing games, shooters etc.). Thing is if youre not very careful theyll spin endlessly causing lots of unintentional jumps. Arcade sticks on the other hand have gates from which you get Feedback. You need the feedback because you have to focus on your opponent in a match and not on your inputs.

+Real765rp thanks... I did try playing with dpad today and it was surprisingly easier than i thought and hitting combos were easier.. I found it a bit difficult to hit DP in the right side of the d-pad but i guess i need more practice for it... But damn it hurts thumb.. :P

This might sound strange, but could you do a video on facing left/facing right while doing dragon punches? Ken was my main but I'm feeling pressured to change to someone like Bison who has no DP motions. While facing right, I just cannot do dragon punches accurately. Probably about 30% chance on fight stick and 60% chance on controller. And supers is like 95% facing left, 70% facing right. It's always been this way for me. I'm much more comfortable being on the right. Any tips?
@mikejonesnoreally
@mikejonesnoreally 6 жыл бұрын
The answer for 100% reliability is kind of the inverse of *this* video. Tap forward (relative to your facing, of course.) then throw a fireball in the same direction. So in your case, where you prefer facing right it would be tap left, down, down forward, left + Shoryuken strength. Once you've built some muscle memory you can drop the last part of the input, but this was a good "middle step" for me. Once you've done that you'll understand why the techniques Vesper discusses in this video are necessary in some cases. :)

@PSMii
@PSMii 9 жыл бұрын
+Oda Chi It should work every time unless your timing is off or you're not hitting HK and HP at the same time. I would recommend going into training mode and putting on inputs so you can see if its your button pressing. If its not that, try adjusting your timing until you find what works. Also, if it is your button pressing, maybe changing one of the left shoulder buttons to V-Trigger would be best if you want consistency, but you'll lose either all 3 punches or all 3 kicks. Hope that helps.

Is there a way to input Zangief's super while standing without having to do crouching medium punch or headbutt?
@real765rp8
@real765rp8 9 жыл бұрын
I played other characters in other games with 2x360 motions and heres what i came up with. What you have to do is input the first 360 while unable to jump and then, while you might be able to jump, input another 360 with a button quickly . I dont think there is a way around this. You can input the first 360 during a jump, right after certain attacks, during a forward or backward dash, or right after blocking hard attacks with lots of hitstun. On rare occasion you may even input the first circle while on the ground if you want to wake up grab super. With Zangief specifically you could also input the first 360 during v-skill i guess.

VesperArcade what's your opinion on oversized actuator and stiffer spring on a jlf? Do you think that movements like dash are faster easier with the mod?
@VesperArcade
@VesperArcade 9 жыл бұрын
+Inspire I used a korean crown for a bit when doing some trials and while it feels better doing dashes it was harder for me to personally do double qcf motions. Might be better for something like Tekken but this is just my personal experience.

+Inspire No I haven't. It would probly be too sensitive for me since I played in the arcade days and used to doing extreme inputs all the time. It's an easy cheap mod so maybe give it a try and let me know how it goes for you =).

***** When I say Pad, I meant the dualshock 4 d-pad. It works best for me. If that's not your thing, there's the Hori Fighting Commander 4, which the gamestop website sells for 30 bucks. It was a little too bulky for me, though I have really small hands.

GutsRage I could be wrong, but I think he refers to d-pad versus analog stick on the pad. By the way, Smug uses the analog stick if I recall correctly, and i don't understand how that's possibile D:
@real765rp8
@real765rp8 9 жыл бұрын
The d-pad has more Feedback the analogue stick is just way to... squishy for me... like a hadouken on d-pad is exactly what it is. Down, down-forward, forward. On Analogue stick it feels more like 90-degree spin and my problem is that most of the times i get unintentional jumps by doing 100 degree spins. Theres simply more Feedback on the d-pad and its not ... i dunnow... a racing game where you need sth between no press and full press (where the analogue stick shines)
