The fun is that we all building things up on our own level and strength and age. You are helping us because sportschool in Europe are only for the young and this you can do when you have time and the way you want it. This is far more relaxed and that is also quiet important. 😊

Thanks for the challenging workout! I especially liked the lunge forward with a twist and the bird dog. I have never done either of those, and I think they will help me. Me coordination in movements that combine arms and legs is not good. I think that is because in the past I did machine exercises where one set of muscles is isolated. Machines are good, but they don’t help with coordination, which is a critical issue for wome over 60. I hope to improve with practice. My legs have weakened over the last five years, and I am determined to get them back strong. Thank you for giving so many great workouts to choose from.

I love this step up to intermediate! I know I've had a workout now 😅. It would be great if you would say when you are switching sides. I use an iPad to workout and I can't always see you... especially when doing floor work. I am actually keeping up my workouts with you two. As far as ability goes, I'm somewhere in between you. I've been following your workouts 4 or 5 times a week - alternating strength and cardio. I feel a real difference. Thank you!

I'd thought I would have finished the 7-Day Intermediate challenge by now, but I had several very hectic days in a row when I wasn't able to make time to work out. I rested yesterday and came back to do this Day 4 challenge this morning. I tried to keep up with April, but I couldn't do the single-leg deadlifts (I tried one or two in the first set but had trouble balancing, so went back to the regular deadlifts for the rest of the workout.) I used 5-pound weights for all the exercises that used weights, including the glute bridges in the 2nd & 3rd sets. I had a little trouble balancing on the lunge-and-twist moves but mostly was able to manage those. I had a lot of trouble balancing doing the bird-dogs (especially with the left arm and right leg) and didn't get them right until the third set. For the first set, I decided to start over with knee-ups like Aiko, but I added the extra challenge of bringing my elbow to my knee. I'm not sure if my feeling off-balance today is due to not working out for a few days, feeling a little under-the-weather in general, setting up my floor mat in a very narrow area, or a combination of all these factors. I hope to try this workout again sometime when I'm feeling better, and meanwhile I'm looking forward to Day 5!

The Intermediate Challenge would be challenging on days when you are feeling good and certainly a bit harder when your body is feeling a bit off! Modifying the moves to keep you moving was good though! Your heart and muscles got a good workout! But why not take a rest day for your mind and body and chill! No work outs for a day or two! Always good to rest and renew! Day 5 will wait for you! Hope you feel better soon! ❤️

@@yes2next Thanks so much for your good wishes and advice, April!♥ I actually did manage to do the Day 5 workout on Monday and felt better for doing so, but I took it easier today and did your gentler and shorter 10-minute energizer workout instead, mostly because I had to get out pretty early this morning and wasn't able to get up early enough to fit in a half hour workout. I'm hoping to move on to the Day 6 Challenge tomorrow, but it's going to be another out-early day for me, so I'll keep your advice in mind and not push myself to get to it if it's too hard to make the time for it. Hi April! Have recently begun following your videos and find your approach so scientific and doable. For the first time in my life I don't feel exhausted after exercise of any kind. It is truly a joy and gift to hear you feel rejuvenated with our workouts. We are so proud you for making a commitment to get stronger and are honored to be by your side. Everyone's strength level is different, so what might be considered "light" for one person may be challenging for another. The weight you use depends on your current strength level, and the exercise itself. 1 kg is an excellent weight to start with for strength training. It also a good weight to use with our walking and cardio workouts if you want more challenge (if and when they feel heavy put them down). With strength training, the amount of weight you use can vary depending on the exercise. For example, I recommend using lighter weights for shoulder exercises compared to bicep curls and rows. (The shoulder joint is highly mobile and has a wide range of motion. It is also relatively vulnerable to injury, especially if you use excessively heavy weights or improper form. Using lighter weights can reduce the risk of overloading the shoulder joint and causing injury.) So proud of you for focusing on building muscle! At your young age of 67, it is very important to do strength training to combat the loss of muscle and bone mass that naturally occurs. The time it takes to build muscle can vary depending on the person -- age, gender, nutrition, training intensity, and consistency can all play a role. However, many people begin to notice some changes in muscle tone and strength within a few weeks to a couple of months of consistent training. Significant visible changes might take several months to a year or more. Consistency is key. Regular, progressive resistance training is crucial for building muscle. Aim for at least 2-3 days of strength training per week, targeting major muscle groups. Muscles need time to repair and grow stronger. Make sure to get enough sleep and allow at least 48 hours of rest between working the same muscle groups. Overtraining can hinder progress, so listen to your body when you feel sore or tired. Hi there! So proud of you for making a commitment to get healthier. Everyday, you can do cardio/walking, balance work, and or stretching everyday. (We have videos in all of these areas.) Any amount of time is great -- it's important to start moving at your level and build up time and intensity gradually. Strength training like this workout can be done 2 or 3 times a week with at least one day of rest between working muscle groups to allow them to recover. Listen to your body and if you feel sore or tired, rest. Let us know how long you typically walk and do strength training and we can recommend specific videos. Keep up the great work!! 👏
