The big problem with the Striker in MW3 is the maps. Almost every map in MW3 is small and suits SMG-shotgun playstyles. You will not see conventional sniping or overwatch LMG users too often unless you're playing on DLC maps (which were to counteract all of MW3's small maps). This basically applies to every shotgun, but they were all hit by an effective nerf except for the Striker. As well, the USAS took over as the best shotgun as it shoots 9 pellets and can basically serve the same purpose in a better way.

I agree with all of that, but I think it's the fact the other shotguns are simply not as strong as the Striker that was an issue. Other than the USAS and KSG, the rest didn't serve much purpose

The gun was definitely OP during the Ext. Mags Glitch days, but since that was fixed, it ain't so bad. But... yeah, 9 pellets + Damage given how fast it can be fired was a bit much at the time. By itself, the weapon fits in with the balancing of the shotgun tier.

The problem people have with the Striker is that it's the dominant shotgun in a game infested with close range maps. The MW2 maps were largely mid range, with a few being close range and a few being long range, which is why the short range of the Striker didn't cause anyone to fall in love with it.

The reason the Striker is hated so much is because it didn't get ANY nerf going from MW2 to MW3. As you mentioned, all the shotguns were made primaries and nerfed for MW3, so they aren't as effective as they were. EXCEPT for the Striker. The Striker was actually BUFFED in MW3, because it has a higher fire-cap than in MW2. Granted, its only 20 RPM difference, but it allows you to spam shots faster than before. If the other shotguns were the same as their MW2 versions, this wouldn't be a problem.

100% agree on the problem of nerfing all other shotguns! The striker in MW3 plays the same as the MW2 equivalent, and it cant be said about the spas, AA12 and 1887. I would have loved to see the ranger in MW3 as a powerful CQB primary, but alas will have to wait another CoD for a double barrel primary that fires both barrels at the same time

IW Logic: 1. Make shotties primaries. 2. Nerf shotties, but leave one untouched. 3. ???? 4. PROFIT The same goes for the SMG's and AR's.They make a deadly, recoil-less gun that can kill you at any range. While the Type 95 is OP, I think (please don't hate, it's my opinion) that the MP7 is balanced; it's just TOO easy to use. That shouldn't make a gun OP, though. Sure, the recoil is non-existent, but that's it. If you want raw power, PP90M1 and PM-9 basically turn people into Swiss Cheese.

I honestly think the striker is slightly overpowered, but most of that reason is due to the needing of the other shotguns, and I actually understand why they didn't nerf the striker before mw3, since it was the least popular shotgun around in mw2(which I think is also the reason why Spas 12 got a major hit in the dawn of mw3)

I agree completely on the shotgun balance issues. People are allways going to complain about shotguns if they are useful and the best in the tier will inevitable get most of the flak. The Striker was fine in MW2 and it is fine in MW3. After the glitch was patched I would also say the USAS is great, and the SPAS and KSG are decent but there are definitely still some issues with the 1887 and the AA-12's "balance" makes very little sense.

Pre shotgun patch, Striker with damage and extended mags was the ultimate room-camper-clearing (e.g. the building in Seatown) weapon but now it's been nerfed a bit there's no weapon I could effectively use to clear out campers :/

Yeah, that's also true. Most of the maps on MW3 are small to medium, with only a couple truly "large" ones, but those larger maps are so cluttered with stuff that most combat is forcibly CQC, where shotguns and, from my experience, much more so with SMGs (many times, I've encountered entire teams with the MP7). Can hardly even be a true sniper a.k.a. "hardscoper" in any of them. A few spots on Bakaara, Interchange, and Liberation, but pretty predictable. BLOPs, you could move around a lot more

When the extended mags glitch was present the domination you could do with the striker was insane. Several moabs was had with my golden striker. After the patch i have no issues

Hey Amish, as a suggestion for your videos I think you should sync up your gameplay clips to what you're talking about. For example when you were talking about how you should always fire from the hip the clip shows you firing aiming down the sight. I understand that you probably won't be able to do this and/or you may have already thought of it before, but on the off chance you haven't I just wanted to throw it out there.

i definatly remember the striker being a dominant force in mw2, in place of M1014, that only had 4 shots, the striker felt like the M1014 with extended mags. i dont recall seeing alot of rangers running around, but yes, the AA12 with extended mags was everywhere! but again, i definatly saw the striker around alot, and it felt pretty op then. i do like that they're not secondaries anymore, that definatly made it better.

The striker is not about shooting fast, it's about knowing a sweetspot. If you spam it completely you will not fire very fast, but if you shoot just at the right time, the striker will get a high rpm!

It doesn't really matter imo why the Striker is so much better than the other shotguns, the fact that it is means that its OP'd for a shotgun (not OP'd for the overall game). The only other shotgun that can come close is the USAS, but its even weaker at range than the Striker due to dmg + crosshair size. By the end of MW2, the Striker was getting some popularity. Then in MW3, it sticks out like a sore thumb. It needs a nerf, probably take 100 RPM off, give the AA-12 a reason to live.

No one should go into a game with a shotgun worrying about accuracy. My goal with a shotgun is to overwhelm. That's why I only use the Striker and USAS regularly. Now I am a pretty accurate shooter (19.75% mostly using AR's), but I enjoy spamming a bit sometimes.

I just checked and held down the trigger (Which I have never done before) and saw the slow, but apparent full auto. I had never really done research to back it up. Although the real usas is semi auto

One I was playing a game of domination against a full party of tryhards so I switched to my MP7. One of them was running around with a Striker + extended mags + damage. I saw him running at me so I started shooting. I hit him with 3 bullets with my MP7 and he one shotted me from 10 feet away. He did it a few more times too. After that, I didn't rage quit or yell at him. I just started laughing hysterically.

thats good with the striker because when you shoot a shot with it the striker has to chamber in the next round and when people spam the trigger it goes super slow but when people go a little slower it shoots very fast hope this helped oh yea and usas12 ftw all day

It wasn't popular in MW2 because it was a secondary and there was stopping power. Make Assassin the best red perk, make the stryker a primary, make all the maps primarily close range and grid-like. That's why the stryker dominates. MW2 had more open map designs and better sightlines hands down. Only a few MW3 dlc maps make long range combat viable. Personally, I hate the stryker because I hate the poor map designs more.

I remember your black ops reviews. Back then you actually made valid agruments about what gun was UP OP and just AVG, and for the most part agreed with you. Now though it just seams ridiculous on what you take a stance on. Do you really think striker isnt OP just because it has a slow switch speeds, poor range, and weak bucks? First off since when has switch speeds really mattered enough to say that gun is bad or good, and why would it matter anyway if the only good blue tier perk is SOH.

As for the range, its effictive enough for its play stlye "in your face CQC". Not to mention the majority of matches online tend to be small maps. How many times have you played downturn since you got this game and compare to hardhat/bootleg/undergroud/dome/lockdown ect. Lastly its damage maybe bad compared to other shotguns but other shotguns doesn't have its fire rate. The only compareable one is the AA12, but we know that gun preform as well. I really hope you get your act together soon.

Nice. The striker was one of my favorites. However, I have a very short temper for this game and a certain secondary in it. Also I tend to get opposing teams who use assault packages on kill confirmed games. Can you say overkill.

Yeah, Assassin (Pro) is the only thing I really have a problem with in MW3. It's basically a super-charged Ghost (Pro) from BLOPs and people have problems with THAT alone. So what does IW do? Make it stronger, of course. ~_~ Now people who, after playing MW3 for a while, go back to playing BLOPs again, they realize just how much more balanced out Ghost (Pro) is compared to Assassin (Pro).

The striker isn't overpowered. After the patch it became very well balanced. It has a bad 1hk ability, fires moderately fast. That's balanced.

In the face of the aa12, m1014, and spas in mw2 the striker was bad. But one of the worst mw2 shotguns is transfered to mw3 with almost no change in stats and people say its over powered. Just goes to show how far shotguns have fallen in mw3.

@xxRagingAmishxx Overall, I agree with you, my problem with the stiker is it's spamming ability. I prefered the MW2 Spaz12 where if you missed you were dead, and taking out a group was for good players. The striker isn't overpowered, it's just the definition of newbie players weapon. I hate guns like the ACR, MP7, and the striker because they take what should be a tough task, and offer little to no challenge. They're coddling weapons.
