Type 95 - Assault Rifles - Modern Warfare 3 - # 14

This is my biggest project to date. The type 95 is undeniably controversial. Maybe it'll be fixed in the future (I'm posting this on the 14th of January, 2012), and if that's the case, great! If not, this video will explain what needs to be fixed.

The Type 95 is a Chinese Weapon. Based off of the AK-74. The main similarity of the FAMAS and the Type 95 is the raised sights on a bullpup design. Beyond that, they are different guns.

Actually, the Type 95 is based off the Type 86, a failed AK bullpup copy, and this is because of the safety placement on the AK varients. The Type 95 is the solution to their problems by moving the safety, and the larger cartridge was made to out-perform the 5.56 NATO calibre by delivering more kinetic energy to the bullet.

One thing I approve about infinity ward, their Overpowered weapons are always burst fire weapons, and the majority of players don't like to use them, which is why the type 95 is not as overused as the famas and mp40 were

For a while there, I was convinced that this gun wasn't really overpowered, I never really ran into it, but today I got into a TDM lobby against an entire team using Type 95s. It was a freaking slaughter. No matter what, close range, long range, they had the better weapon.

people have always complained about 3-burst guns that can kill in one burst. People forget that 3-burst guns that can't kill in one burst NEVER get used. the 3-burst limit is a severe limit that people ALWAYS try to downplay. I think the crossfire adjustment was the right move, and should be standard on 3-bursters going forward. 3 burst guns should be the specialized guns of the middle distane (where as shotguns, and snipers are the other two range specific guns)

The Type 95 they are using in the game IRL is called the QBZ-95 and IS an assault rifle.

It's actually a QBZ-95, it is made in china, there is also a LMG variant of it as well. So no, it's not a FAMAS, I like how someone actually knows something about guns unlike most other people in COD

2 things: 1, love the blazing sadle clips. 2, a realy good example of a ballanced burst fire weapon is the scar in homefront, 3 shot burst that is hard to use at close range almost forcing you to take on other players t a further distance, however it has good power and can be outstanding if you lern how to use it close range

Funny thing is, many Bo2 weapons would shit all over old weapons and are considered underpowered (the M27 kills only 0.015 seconds slower than the ACR but fires first), while some would be shit on by older weapons and are considered overpowered (The MW2 SPAS-12 would shit all over the R870).

Amish's idea is a good one and in my opinion the only way to really balance the weapon without killing it, like IW did to the M16. An increase in recoil wouldn't hurt either.

bullpup assault rifles are all based on the same design, so the QBZ-95 may be quite similar but is defiantly not the FAMAS.

In CoD 4 there are barely any guns that are even close to OP. The MP5 comes somewhat near OP (but still not OP). That is what makes the MP5 "OP".

The odd thing is, on the PC version of the game, this gun is very rare! I play mostly TDM and KC and i see a Type 95 maybe once every five matches. I think it's the full manual aim, that actually balances this gun. TL;DR: PC rules

The thing is they fairly balanced it. The M16 needs a 2-3 shot kill to compensate for its low fire rate. The Type-95 needs to be a 3-4 shot kill due to its insane fire rate in comparison. If they do this the game will be much better balanced.

amish, what the devs think dont matter. they probably saw how powerful the type 95 was, they still released to see what the consumers thought of it. thats why they attempted to patch it early on when the type 95 was ridicoulously overused.

@The4321kp I'm not saying the the later weapons suck. I'm just saying the the Barrett 50 Cal. is the best sniper rifle despite the early unlock. If you like the AS50 or some other sniper rifle, good for you. But given the option, I'll always take the Barrett 50 Cal. As far as the zoom thing, just give the Barrett an Acog sight and extended mags (using the two attachements proficiency). This way, you get everything you can from the Barrett 50 Cal.

I didn't mind the Famas in MW2 either. I used it as a mid-long range weapon with an ACOG on it (then again I put the acog on almost everything, except the F2000 and the TAR-21) Didn't really mind it in Black Ops either, but then again I only played online for about a month on black ops. :-/

It can pull off a 4 burst kill with a headshot, which is pretty quick for Halo. And it's way better than the DMR/Needle Rifle.

this may sound a bit random but i think the ak47 needs a buff. i know it does 49 damage and acr does 40 damage but in the end they both kill in 3 shots and the acr has a higher fire rate and MUCH MUCH less recoil. they should give the ak less recoil so it is more like in the other cod games or they could (and this might make it op) make it do 49-33.5 damage so it is always a 3 shot kill but it would do less damage at range with an attatchment (30 damage) thumbs up if u agree

@xXHanxseXx sure they were nerfed. i did not have any intention to say that the ump and g18's are still as good as they were. what i wanted to say was, that i don't think they changed famas to type 95 only because they didn't want to bring back a once hated weapon. i was focusing on the argument about the name, not the performance of a weapon. and you also imply nerfing the type 95. history (ump, g18's in mw2) shows, that this is not as likely as we may think

Great review man, I just have one small scruple. When you say they had a development time of 2 years, I'm assuming that's correct, how can Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer be forgiven for such a blatant error. Considering that MW3 looks almost exactly like MW2, so not much time was spent on that aspect. Most of the mechanics are the same, with a few things added in. There were also some maps and some new weapons. I say this game is MW2.3, your thoughts? (not raging or anything, just curious)

Your last few reviews I have been agreeing with more than usual. I agree about the drop-off. The rapid fire is iffy to me as well, but connection issues seem to hurt me more than help with the T95. I think the M16 should be made into 50-30 with a smart drop-off so it won't be totally useless.

I hate when people say a gun is overpowered in a game when it was OP in the past game. Everyone is calling the MP7 in Bo2 overpowered just because it was in MW3. If the MP7 in Bo2 was renamed MP6, no one will complain.

It's weird, I'm a 2+ K/D player in Halo, but I've also always preferred the AR. Most really good players use the BR/DMR/NR, but I've managed to do just fine with the AR.

M16A4= 1. More Range 2. More DMG from a distance 3. Faster Reload Time 4. Faster Switch Speeds 5. More Accurate (hip fire) Type 95= 1. More DMG from up close 2. Faster Rate of Fire 3. More Accurate (ADS) It depends on what you like.

I never really got the issue with the famas in Black Ops. I never used assault rifles (except the m14) but the famas, galil, and AUG were basically the same. They were good, don't get me wrong, but not overpowered. The main reason they get so much hate is lots of people used them. When a gun gets used more, you get killed by it more. When you get killed by a gun more, there is the tendency to think it's overpowered. I think this is where the hate comes from.

Should be nurfed power wise so that it takes 3 shots to kill on any point of the body at close range and then a three shot kill to the upper body to head for a 1-burst-kill. Otherwise it should take more than one burst. This way it's like a cross between the power of the m16 in MW2 and the accuracy/fire rate of the famas in mw2

Oddly when I played MW3, I was better using the M16 then the Type 95 due to the M16 being my personal fav from CoD4 onwards. M16 with 2 attacthments (Rapid Fire/Sight or Extend mags) with Scavenger, Quickdraw and Dead Silences made my flanker class work.
