Want a cure for neuropathy - quit eating sugary foods for 30 - 60 days and see what happens - it worked for me and it could work for you. I cut out all pies, ice cream, doughnuts, Little Debbies etc... I did this cuz my A1C test reveal I had pre-diabetes. at around 60 days into this sugar free diet(well almost sugar free) and my neuropathy pains went away by 90%. Plus I lost 8 pounds and I feel better and I sleep better and it didn't cost me a dime - it actually saved me money - and the pains are almost totally gone. Thank God. Try it and see.

It really works! In early 2021 I had Covid very badly. I was in an induced coma for 12 days, then in ICU for another two weeks. When I woke up I couldn't even stand. My thighs were numb and have remained so. GP and neurologist couldn't offer me any solutions. It was like that all this time, until I started taking alpha lipoic acid. I couldn't even walk around the block without discomfort a couple of weeks ago, but today I took my neighbour's dog on a one-hour walk, partially over pretty rough ground, and I had no aching, no tiredness in my legs.

I still suffer today, have been ruled out for Diabetes,my health has been pretty good. My Father does suffer from Neuropathy so I figured it's hereditary. Thanks for info contained in this video. Alpha, lipoic acid comes in to forms: R-Alpha lipoic acid (Which is naturally formed, and stored in fat cells) There’s also S- Alpha lipoic acid (Which is synthetically created, and is water based) Only use the R-Alpha, lipoic acid. It must state in the ingredients R-Alpha lipoic acid. If you’d like to learn more about Alpha lipoic acid you can look up the nerve doctors on KZbin explaining everything you need to know about alpha lipoic acid, so that you are fully informed and can choose to purchase this effective supplement. Best wishes!

Three years ago I had a severe complication due to diabetes type2. The pain was so excruciating that I thought I could have lost my left leg. After discovering the Alpha Lipoic Acid, I gave it a try. The pain was reduced 40 percent after one month and about 75 percent after about 3 months. After about a year, the pain was 95 percent gone. Now after a couple of years, I don't have pain at all on my left leg but still feel numb a bit on the left foot. I attribute this as miracle. I told my friend of my story. He tried it out without telling me and I didn't know what problems he had. He just told me how the Alpha Lipoic Acid helped him gain sensation on his skin near the elbows, the arms after starting trying this supplement about 5 months. No doubt about it, I told him, that I'm the living witness that have told you what happened to me and now it helped you too and I advised him to tell everyone he knows whom would have diabetes complications to take Alpha Lipoic Acid to prevent damage to the nerves before it happens.

Try massaging in castor oil (add a couple of drops of frankincense oil to it in your hand and mix.) Then rub on your feet. Read about castor oil - it relieves pain, has many benefits, and also carries things into the body (ie the painkilling frankincense). Also lack of magnesium can cause foot pain (cramps). Spray on magnesium oil and rub in. Epsom salts foot bath. Also try a multi magnesium supplement (5 kinds of magnesium in 1 tablet) as there are 5 kinds of magnesium and not all help. I'm not a doctor, but I researched online, and these things helped me. I also gave up sugar and wheat, and eat dark greens daily. And play padel (like pickle ball!) Good luck!

S stands for synthetic which is a filler and does nothing. I take 600 of r-alpha lipoic acid and it makes a big difference but cost alot more than any brands that have s included in the mix.

Alpha lipoic acid does help, it did help me although I am not diabetic, but please be careful and don't take too much, I took a high dose to start with 1000mg, but after a while I found that my hair started to come out quite a lot, being a woman in her sixties I put it down to my age, but on researching ALA I discovered that one of its side effects can be hair loss, so my advice would be to start on a smaller dose than I did, 😫😫🖐
@marksmitchell

I'm a man in my sixties and take more than 4 times that dose daily and have nothing but good results to speak of. I've seen no research on ALA that mentions anything about losing hair. I've been taking ALA for over 10 years now (started with 600mg/day) and my doctor is fine with my current dosage. It's hard to find any evidence that high doses are harmful in any way. Though it will upset your stomach if you try to take 2 or 3 of the 600mg capsules all at once on an empty stomach. Just for the record, I take 7 of those capsules per day. But definitely only take what you need. I'm well over 10 years into my neuropathy adventure, and this is not a condition that is going to improve over time. So my dose has increased over time. Good luck with your adventure.

When I was in chemo I developed neuropathy pretty badly, not just in my hand and feet, but along my entire trunk. Especially where the tumor removal scar was (breast bone to pubic bone). I was already taking alpha-lipoic to help protect my liver from the chemo. It helped a little bit, but the thing that helped me most was actually glutamine. It did more good than anything else. If I missed taking it for more than 3 days, the neuropathy would flare up big time. After two days of the glutamine, it would begin fading away again. I'm long since done with chemo, but I still occasionally get flare-ups of the neuropathy & I always will. So I keep glutamine on hand for that. It's going to live in my medicine chest right next to the aspirin for the rest of my life.

I read about glutamine awhile back and it was said to be worse than sugar for cancer. Cancer loves it they said. Right after I bought a few bottles. Supposed to be good for bodybuilding so I got it. I just ordered some vitamin B 1 that's supposed to help with diabetes and neuropathy from what different podcast were saying. I just tried eating bitter melon as it's also supposed to help. Ceylon cinnamon and extra virgin olive oil slow down carb digestion decreasing spikes to keep blood sugar under control helping to reduce cramps and neuropathy. You can also eat sauerkraut as glutamine is made from it I believe. At any rate it's good for stomach bacteria. Some on carnivore diet say it helps get rid of cancer by eliminating inflammation and helps with many other diseases as well. Some foods said to be healthy for us are very inflammatory and cause joint pain and other problems. Check it out. Lots of information on it. Carbs cause a lot of health problems, diabetes, heart, kidney, pancreas , thyroid, and other problems. Once you get diabetes your other organs want to gang stomp you to death. I cut out most of my carbs and my foot, ankle and calf swelling has almost completely gone away as well as my cramps that made me get out of bed usually more than once a night to walk it off. Getting more sleep now and that's been a problem for many years now. Lack of sleep leads to all kinds of killer health problems. Good old carbs will do you in.

Thank you so much for responding, Jeff. Your info makes a lot of sense. I did work for some naturopaths some time back and learnt a lot from them, and that GPs usually seem to work in the 'bandaid' way; they don't try to get to the bottom of what is not right in the body that causes all these things. I live in the country so am limited in my health services, but would love to find a Functional Doctor as they are trained in both GP type medicine and also a more holistic way of working. As I also have inflammatory bowel disease I am very careful about what I take, and have sensitivity to a lot of products, even skin and hair products. The other issue is my MTHFR which means my mitochondrial function is not great and therefore my uptake of certain things, B12 and the processing of folic acid is inhibited, plus a lot of other effects, so absorption is a problem, so I tend to get my vitamins in an oil base. I will try your recommendations, but will take it a few steps at a time. I have an autoimmune leukaemia so I don't like to shock my system. I am on an immunosuppressant as well, I have to be careful. I have taken Gabapentin in the past and it saved me. For some reason I ended up with pain throughout my whole body, to the point where I couldn't turn over in bed, or tie up my hair, without help. It was so painful, and my daughter thought she would have to put me in a home if it didn't go away. Tried lots of pain killers, even morphine patches, all did nothing, but then my doctor said to try one more thing, Gabapentin, and it worked wonders. Within a couple of days I felt better. Be aware though, you do need to be careful with it as it comes with side effects, and hence I have not gone back on it. Sometimes when there are so many things going on you don't know which is the chicken and which is the egg, as our bodies are not all separate bits, they all depend on each other, so it's hard to tell which to treat, especially with medications. I'll go slowly. I know I have to improve my gut bacteria, due to my whole life of gut issues, so plan Number one, not easy but I don't think much else is going to help unless I get this sorted out a bit. I am hesitant about the carnivore diet as from everything I have read and watched, to have good gut bacteria you need fibre, fibre, fibre, and without vegetables and some fruits, how do you build that. Anyway, as I said, one step at a time, but it was great getting everybody's inputs, very interesting.

Hi Jen, Jeff here again. I just put in an order for vitamin B 1 off of Amazon. I've been reading up on it and a lot of people say it helps with diabetes problems having to do with the nerves so I'm going to give it a try. I haven't had much of a problem for awhile now but it can't hurt to take a 100 mg tablet every day. I could take more but more doesn't always help and if it helps that's good. If not can take more. Check out some videos on it. You might also try bitter melon. It's been used in Asian countries for a long time as a treatment for diabetes. I just tried some today and the taste leaves much to be desired but I mixed it with other foods to mask most of the taste. Check that out also. It's said to be a very healthy food. I started using virgin olive oil on many of my foods as it slows down the processing of carbs so they don't spike and is good for you anyway. I also learned about cinnamon being good for slowing down carb spikes. Ceylon cinnamon is good, but stay away from Saigon cinnamon as it's said not t be real cinnamon and can be toxic if you use too much. I got mine off of Amazon for a lower price and most stores carry Saigon.

Don't bother asking your physician about supplements, as the vast majority have had no such background in their medical training. The demands of medical school are such that doctors had gone through more than a decade in a state of exhaustion and malnutrition, having time only to grab a bag of chips or cookies out of a machine. Many physicians and their medical staff never exercise or utilize proper nutrition, and of course, they never exercise. So, just how are they supposed to assist you with such information! At least, shop for a PCP carefully: you have the right, as the person who HIRES THEM for your medical care, to interview them the way you would interview any employee. They are not gods; thus, they aren't above careful scrutiny.

Your post is useful, but sadly, it's incomplete. I have had Type-2 diabetes for the last 30 years and am now focusing on managing my diet and supplements due to facing neuropathy problems. Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) is great stuff, but many supplements are fake and expensive. I suggest users do a small amount of research and think before purchasing anything. ALA is found naturally in a variety of foods, particularly in organ meats such as liver, heart, and kidney. However, for those looking for plant-based sources of ALA, there are several options (I suggest eating raw rather than cooked) : Spinach: Spinach is a good source of ALA, along with other nutrients such as iron and vitamin K.Broccoli: Broccoli is another vegetable that contains ALA, as well as being rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals.Brussels sprouts: Brussels sprouts are a cruciferous vegetable that provides ALA, along with antioxidants and fiber.Tomatoes: Tomatoes contain ALA, especially when they are cooked or processed into products like tomato paste or sauce. Peas: Peas are a legume that contains ALA, along with protein, fiber, and various vitamins and minerals.Potatoes: Potatoes, particularly the skin, contain ALA, along with other nutrients such as potassium and vitamin C. Animal sources of alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) include: Organ meats: Liver, heart, and kidney are particularly rich sources of ALA.Red meat: Beef, lamb, and pork contain ALA, though in smaller amounts compared to organ meats.Fish: Certain types of fish, such as salmon and trout, contain ALA, along with other beneficial nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids.Chicken: Chicken meat contains ALA, though typically in lower amounts compared to organ meats and fish.Eggs: Both the yolk and the white of eggs contain ALA, making eggs a source of this nutrient.Dairy products: Milk, cheese, and yogurt contain ALA, though the amounts may be relatively small compared to other sources. When comparing the effectiveness of different forms of alpha-lipoic acid (ALA), it's essential to understand their differences: R-ALA (R-alpha-lipoic acid): This is the natural form of alpha-lipoic acid found in the human body. Some research suggests that R-ALA may have higher biological activity compared to the synthetic form (S-ALA). R-ALA is often considered more effective due to its similarity to the ALA produced by the body. S-ALA (S-alpha-lipoic acid): This is the synthetic form of alpha-lipoic acid. While it is biologically active, it is generally considered less effective than R-ALA. Mixed ALA: Some ALA supplements contain a mixture of both R-ALA and S-ALA. This combination may offer benefits by providing a broader spectrum of activity, but the effectiveness of mixed ALA compared to R-ALA alone is still debated. Na-R-ALA (Sodium R-alpha-lipoic acid): This is a stabilized form of R-ALA, where the compound is chemically stabilized with sodium to enhance its bioavailability. Na-R-ALA is designed to improve absorption in the body and may offer advantages in terms of convenience and effectiveness compared to unmodified R-ALA. In general, R-ALA is often considered the most effective form of ALA due to its natural status and potential for higher biological activity. Na-R-ALA may also offer benefits in terms of absorption and convenience. However, the specific effectiveness of ALA supplements can vary depending on individual factors such as dosage, formulation, and health condition. It's essential to consult with a healthcare professional for personalized advice on choosing the most suitable ALA supplement.

I've been taking ALA for over a year and maybe it's helped a little. What has really helped is going mostly carnivore the last few months. I was already looking lean enough but wanted to get a little more of a ripped look and was reading about just how bad carbs are on blood sugar as mine was a little on the high side. My left foot, ankle and calf started swelling over a short period of time , and my skin was always itchy, had foamy urine for a few years but was getting more so and my right foot would go weird on me after walking about a mile. I also have irregular heart beat and bad valve so blood flow isn't perfect. I started taking L Arginine, L Citrulline, Magnesium, and other blood flow supplements that seemed to help a little. I know they helped because I was getting a morning stiffy more often. Then a few months ago I cut out about 90 percent of carbs and had mostly meat and some steamed vegetables. I dropped weight quickly and had to eat a few more carbs to level off the additional loss as I believe we need a small fat reserve to stay healthy and if something happened and I couldn't eat for a few days or very little for a few weeks , I wouldn't fall over from lack of food. I now have about 80 percent fewer carbs. My swelling and itching are almost completely gone, my right foot hardly is a problem, my breathing is better, and I have far less gas, it and poop don't smell as bad, and poop is better, firmer so hardly have to wipe. The days I eat vegetables or maybe some pasta or beans it changes to bloated, gas, softer, smellier doo doo again so I mainly stick to a little milk, bananas, blue berries, cherries in my smoothies as they don't bother me. If you want to improve I suggest getting rid of all wheat, oats, rice and other carbs that are grains. I've also noticed my elbow pain is gone and I don't have to warm up with lighter weights as much when working out. Lower back is better also. Cordyceps is a big help with inflammation. Check out videos on carnivore and it's benefits. It's helped a lot of people feel better. One last thing my toe, foot , and leg cramps have almost entirely disappeared. Now I don't have to get out of bed and walk it off which was really screwing my sleep the last few years. Sometimes it was several times a night. Magnesium and other stuff didn't work. Carnivore. Getting rid of carbs did. Almost nothing now so more rest and not pissed off every night when I can't get back to sleep at 2 in the morning, get up go into the garage for a couple hours then back to bed and cranp again shortly after laying down. Carnivore works and brings back some sanity into my life.

Hi. Thank you for this info. It all makes sense to me. I have been looking at natural therapies for some time now, but as I have a few differen issues it's hard to find something that works for all, or that doesn't cause another to get worse. I have a rare type of leukaemia, plus heaps of gut issues, bad arthritis, irregular heatbeat, MTHFR, and dreadful itching, which I have been told is part of the leukaemia, but I'm not sure if that's what it is. Every time I look up differnt foods to see which ones would be best to avoid, I find so much conflicting information. Could you send a rough list of what you eat, which vegetables and fruits, how much, and any supplements you take. I know we are all different and what is good for one may not be good for another, but I would like to give this a try and nothing else has made any difference. @@jenniferjolliffe4269 Hello Jen, I'm 71 and trying to keep strong and healthy. I lift weights 2 or 3 times a week and do some walking when I get the urge. Look better built than most of the young guys so that keeps me going. Mostly I eat a lot of meat and don't worry about the fat because without the fat I was losing to much weight. Beef, pork mainly, some chicken and even tried leg of lamb, tuna fish, sardines to mix it up. Carnivore will make you lose weight because carbs make you fat, give you diabetes, kidney problems, heart problems etc. Most of our modern health problems come from eating grains which in nature we didn't eat in abundance until recent history. They along with many vegetables cause inflammation and can lead to arthritis, inflammation of the heart and all kinds of internal damage. To put it bluntly, the government sponsored food pyramid is killing us. I have a heart valve that's not quite right and noticed irregular beat when I was 20 while lying in my bed. Not bad but gets worse with age. It doesn't pump as good now but not a big problem. Also lymphoma which again many people get as they age. So far not a big problem. I used to eat a lot of carbs to keep my weight up as I have a good metabolism and burned it off. Burning it off wasn't good enough. I still got slightly high blood sugar readings so after watching KZbin videos on keto and carnivore I ditched about 90 percent of the carbs and only had meat, some fruits like bananas, blueberries, cherries, apples in small amounts, and a little milk. Now it's about 20 percent carbs to steady my weight. I sometimes eat stir-fry vegetables. A lot of my meat is baked in a pan for 2. Or 3 hours, covered with foil to keep it juicy. I use garlic, onions, salt and pepper on top of olive oil. Use what you like but try no sugar products. One by product of low carbs and vegetables is almost no gas and bloating, better poop, less smell. Every time I eat vegetables my stomach swells a little and gas time again. Meat I wake up with a flat stomach no gas. List of what I take. Alpha lipoic acid. Bitter melon extract Co q 10 Cordyceps. Good for inflammation, bad back pain L Arginine. Blood flow for workouts L Citrulline. Blood flow workouts L orinithine L tyrosine Magnesium glycine Pine bark Quercetin Taurine Turmeric Wheatgrass Vitamin d 3 That's most of them. Try what you like but ther are so many good health videos I haven't seen them all. Good luck and if you have luck in a couple months please let me know. And if you know anyone with back pain try Cordyceps. It really helped me and a lot of people I told about it. MRM brand. It's low cost and works for me. Internet you can get it or some places like mothers market. Take on empty stomach a little before breakfast and when starting before bed. Should help in a few days. Continue until feeling better. Natural supplement that's helped almost all who tried it. Bad ciatic nerve pain try acupuncture. Good bye. So far the swelling in mostly my left foot, ankle, calf is almost completely gone, and the body itching is gone as well. I used to get bad toe, foot, ankle , calf, some thigh cramps that got me out of bed to walk it off and stayed with me for several minutes sometimes, multiple times a night. Bummer!!! Nothing helped. Very much until I cut the carbs. Bad sleep causes heart problems, bad circulation, swelling, itching. It's a viscous cycle all because of carbs. High sugar will mess with the kidneys and reduce blood filtering, kidney disease. I suggest watching a lot of videos on carnivore and what health problems it has fixed. Check out Jordan Peterson and how it helped his daughter get over the arthritis that was destroying her body. It's a good story. Others say it's gotten rid of bad allergies etc. The supplements I take are mainly for blood flow and inflammation and support organ function. Here is a list and I know it's long but evaluate and choose whatyou like to try. I get .out of it from. Bulk supplements. Com. They have 500 products at bulk rate prices. They also explain what each product does and have, hopefully real, reviews. The supplements I use treat several things each.

@@jenniferjolliffe4269 HI Jen. Somehow my stuff got out of order an looks weird. Thought I'd add I also started taking potassium tablets to balance out the salt in my diet and drink water even if I'm not thirsty. That helps with cramps also. Most of the supplements are in powder form. Not tablets. I mix them all together in a cup of water and drink it down. Taste bad but it's over with and follow it with pure water to clean the mouth and get rid of the taste. Take it on a empty stomach about half hour before breakfast. I also take zinc, b12, and c tablets. Something else I remembered. Nutri biotic which is a grapefruit seed extract is a natural antibiotic that works great on sinus infections. I use the liquid oil and squirt a little a few times a day into some water, drink it down and then more pure water again. Taste bad. Doesn't wreck the good bacteria in the gut. Don't use if sensitive to grapefruit. In a few days my nose clears up and no more green. . Keep using for an extra week to be sure infection is gone. Use again when needed. Get 2 Oz. For about 15 bucks on line or 4 Oz for about 25. A little goes a long way. Oragino oil mixed with olive oil is good for you and it also helps get rid of bad breath. Pure oregano oil is to strong. Needs to be mixed a few drops into a table spoon of olive oil or buy already mixed and put some in water ,drink and rinse it down. That's it for now.

Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) and R-lipoic acid are two forms of the same compound, but they have some differences in terms of their chemical structure and biological activity. R-lipoic acid is the natural, biologically active form of lipoic acid, while ALA is a mixture of R-lipoic acid and S-lipoic acid (the synthetic form). R-lipoic acid is believed to be more effective in the body because it is the form that is directly involved in various metabolic processes. When it comes to choosing between the two for healthy living, many experts recommend R-lipoic acid due to its superior bioavailability and biological activity. R-lipoic acid is believed to have better antioxidant properties and may be more readily absorbed and utilized by the body compared to ALA.

It would continue to do so every 5 minutes or so for like an hour and then subside and I could not sleep because of it. It was very painful. I found that taking megadoses of B vitamins stopped this from happening. I have no connection to any vitamin companies but if anyone is interested I will respond with the brand I took. Again I have no monetary affiliation with any company. Just trying to help. It was a quality of life issue for me.

@@harlequinhead2008 Divine Bounty Super B Complex on amazon. 2 in the morning 2 at night. That dose may be a little much for some but I’m a big guy. Consult your doctor obviously. No more neuropathy.

@@harlequinhead2008 Also if you are using a proton pump for antacid like prilosec or the like try and cut back or stop. They strip your body of B vitamins (from food but not supplements strangely enough). Either way try and cut back or stop taking them if you have neuropathy.

The problem with ALP is that the therapeutic dose of 600 mg a day of the R form is too expensive for many people. Those on fixed incomes just cannot afford to keep taking it for several months, let alone 6 months or a year.

I agree, it's quite expensive at the recommended dose unfortunately. I've seen people have good results with the less expensive synthetic version but the R type is best.
