Well, you are very correct. Last month was my 1 year anniversary her in Canada. I was already up the ladder in my field before leaving Nigeria. When I was coming, I already prepared my mind to start from the foot of the ladder but as God will have it, within a month, I got a job in my field which by far better than I expected. My wife who never did any appreciable job in Nigeria got a job with the govt. Believe me, it's been better for us. On discrimination, I agree with you. Our family doctor is a Nigeria and when he shared how he started, he was a cleaner in thesame hospital he is practicing now. In my office, Nigerians there are up to 10. The problem with most of us is that we want to eat our cake and have it. I started my career over 15 years ago and I know where I started from. Why will I come to a new country and expect to climb a tree from the top. Let's be reasonable jor.

Am in Manitoba. Just go to the government job site, you will see various vacancies. Apply for the one that suites you. If you qualify, you will be invited for assessment and if you pass that, an interview will be scheduled. At least, that's the process for my wife here in Manitoba. I equally applied for 2 jobs through thesame process

Everything depends on one's financial background before leaving one's country. Those who are poor or just average would see everywhere as paradise and have the let's_manage_mentality. Those who are from wealthy background can never put up with shit anywhere regardless of what home is. Money solves most issues even at home and gives considerable level of comfort. Most people are struggling abroad and can't afford to go home or are afraid of what people would say.

@nivawellness My exact thoughts! U seriously nailed it bro. One thing lve also discovered is that most of these self exiled immigrants have very low self esteem n shallow thoughts This same Nigeria has produced USD based billionaires whilst some Nigerians are engaging in slavery version 5.0 as immigrants. They even gamble with their money to these countries that doesn't even need them anyway cos their have enough opinions.

My contribution to this video ma is that when you are migrating to any country all over the world you should be ready mentally physically and you should be resilient and tell yourself that you will make it in that country no matter what .it's just something you have to have in you before coming and also you should be ready for the challenges if you think you're not up to all those things and you don't have all those things I talked about I think you should not bother yourself coming

As a born Canadian, why anyone would choose to live here is beyond my comprehension. You have a false belief this is a rich country, but the truth is you're made into a virtual slave by a corrupt government and oligopolies' out to squeeze everything they can out of you. It's like you're paid 5 times as much but find out everything sells for 10-20 times as much, and you're expected to assume debt to get by, with any savings impossible.

We have to move from the mentality of speaking badly about our African countries. What are you prepared to do to make it better? Nigeria is a rich resource country good leadership is required controlling corruption and tackling crime. It will take a coĺlective effort. Our colonizers are good at creating functional and prosperous states we can do that in Africa. We must change our mindset to do so.

Canada's reality is it's a shell of what it should be. It's far more blessed than the US yet the average person only have an income of less than half because of low salaries and excessive taxation. In my case when working in the US as an Engineer, considering the far higher salaries, the lower taxes, the lower cost of everything, I'm sure my true income was three to four times greater than working in Canada@@ThisSideOfLifeWisdom

Sometimes we do not really have to leave our countries to live in the west. Sometimes we need to try harder in our own countries first. How will Africa develop with a brain drain. Africa has so much lets start holding our leaders accountable in the way they use the resources of the country. We cant just give up and say this will not change. Let us play our part in reducing corruption. Build up Africa not our colonizers country. And yes migration will always take place for varied reasons but Africa with its resources can do better for its people. The people have to demand it though from its leaders.

Thank you for your reaction to that video. I felt the same way. Where you are might be better than somewhere else. Travelling is a good thing because it opens our eyes to what is happening in other parts of the world because a lot of what we see on TV, in media and in the news is not what is really happening on ground. Unless your life is threatened (like war), Nigerians should first travel and see what is really on ground before taking a big jump in life like Migrating. Even before you pay lots of money for school abroad, attend an open house or at least talk to people that are neutral (unbiased) and has done the same thing you are about to do.

My parents were born in the early 60's. They worked 20+ years in Nigeria before moving abroad. The Canadian work environment is different from the Nigerian work environment. Canadians that were born in the 60's and worked all their life Canada have a totally different work mentality. In Nigeria (expecially in the public sector), things are more relaxed and there is less accountability compared to Canada where things are more fact paced and their more accountability.

Once we remove this mentality from our mindset we will not start grumbling about abroad: 1. Don't convert Salary to Naira before going ,you are not going to be spending Naira over there. Don't say if you are making 3000 Cad is over 2million naira. 2. Don't have the mindset that you will buy Rangeover or start building house in 6months. 3. Know that it might take you a yr to 4yrs before you start doing mighty projects back home .

Nigeria mentality. Let them be looking for quick money making scheme. It took my brother 9 years to fully settle down in US. In the end it worth it.

In addition canada treats only terrorists well. If you plan to follow the law and have a good family you will not be called or treated as "Canadians" but may be "people".
