2023 release that I've actually played, Dead Space remake. Last of Us part 1 is also great on PC. Crew Motorfest I agree is lovely. Forza looks pretty average to me, keen to see your PC test results. I get a black level raise bug, I can work around but it's annoying. GT7 smokes it easily IMO.

HDR has been such a poor and slow adoption process by so many vendors and developers outside of TV/film/broadcast, and I'm very grateful for the work channels like yours have been doing. You posted a tonne of great critical analysis of games over 2023, and I think it's gone a long way to helping people understand HDR better overall, as well as put the spotlight on developers who aren't doing enough to modernise their tools. Agree with the list in terms of HDR. In terms of best game overall I'd say Alan Wake 2 is GOTY. Amazing visuals, amazing art style, good gameplay, amazing sountrack, amazing Dolby Atmos mix and last but not least AMAZING STORY and atmosphere! Haven't played any games over the last years that stuck with me this long even after finishing it. Last time I had a similar feeling was with The Last Of Us 2. I'm a big fan of story driven single player games and AW2 just delivered in any way.

I wasn't a big fan of Alan Wake 2. Saga's gameplay was pretty fun, but having to go over literally everything a second time in the mind place was pretty tedious. Alan's segments were more puzzles to find where to go and I just found it rather boring. The image quality also really suffers on consoles. The dead space remake was fantastic though. It'll be a classic for me to go back to when next October comes around.

The biggest issue i have qith hdr is that it doesnt do dim the full scene. I never once remebr playing a game hdr that dimmed the whole screen for overcast gray days.everything was stil bright as daytime. Hdr stil has issues dimming

I absolutely loved HDR color in Forspoken. I actually loved the game too. HDR maybe not as great as in other games on the list but very much worth mentioning. And 2023 is the year, I finally stopped using HGIG after 2 years and began more to use DTM... and I honestly prefer it in many titles

Yeah each game is not the same so its a good habit to check out both. Some games DTM on is actually objectively better. For example, in destiny 2 I play with DTM on.

Well... I'm not a expert like him, but from all games I've played, FF16 looks the worst in terms of hdr, some scenes look great, but the rest of the game looks bad, even when using the right hdr settings from the Ps5 It doesn't change the game completely

Man I just bought the s90c, still deciding if I want to keep it. The colors a great and vibrant but I feel like I have to turn on contrast enhancer to at least low to make it look good. I know that’s frowned upon so not sure. I’ve been trying to use hgig and active tone mapping but I found myself turning on contrast enhancer lol

like a dragon gaiden is so much fun!!! with lots of mini games and jokes! it is like the 8th entry on the series, very famous in Japan but gaining popularity overseas. I cant play with Aloy.. the character is so annoying and the game is amazingly wonderful but kinda boring (for me). I just play for the graphics.

Jedi has average HDR with raised black level floor. TLoU Part 1 has no proper settings for HDR. HDR peak is always 10000nits

Hdr on re4 remake sometimes has really good hdr prior to chapter 8 but when you get to the castle it has raised blacks and a navy blue hue instead of true blacks.

Hey, I'm a big fan of the Yakuza/Like a Dragon games and I'm a bit puzzled because of the mention to Gaiden having an amazing HDR implementation. I just recently played Judgment, Lost Judgment PS5 versions, plus Yakuza 7: Like a Dragon and have tried Ishin on Series X and as far as I can tell non of them support HDR at all, and these are all recent releases from 2020 to 2023. Can you or someone in the comments confirm Gaiden: The Man who Erased his Name is the first in the series to support HDR? PS: I agree, Horizon FW is a mouth-watering looker of a game and HDR is amazing (I play it on LG C1)
