I saw Hot Hot Heat in the winter of 2003. Exactly half of the group I went with is now dead due to drugs. That fact is depressing but it was one of the best shows I ever went to. Not necessarily because of the band (although, they were great) but because of the awesome company I was with.

I grew up in Victoria when these guys were coming up- my friend Matt is the younger brother of the bass player Dustin. This is a trip down memory lane. We got tickets to a gig of theirs after their major label debut came out, and me and Matt spent the entire show getting shitfaced in the green room off all the band's beer while Matt interrogated the singer from one of the opening bands because he thought she was one of the other guys' girlfriend.
