💖👍😍 Yes, please: a video dedicated to glycation. Today I typed "penn.smith glycation" on YT because I am beginning to have that above my upper lip, and this 1 year old video came up. I would be very happy to hear about a more recent video dedicated to this topic. I do avoid sugar and desserts and am working towards a ketogenic diet as I know sugar and carbs cause inflammation in the body and cause the body (inside and out) to age.

Hi Beautiful! Yes, a video on glycation would be awesome! I have been battling the deep wrinkles around my mouth, I believe that one reason for not having any success in eliminating them has to do with glycation or Solar elastosis. I have that weird looking skin around my mouth as well as wrinkles. I do not eat a lot of sweets but diabetes runs in my family. I also used to adore the sun ….with baby oil…. Yup! In my research so far I found 2 topical that promise to break up those chains. Vivier (skinBEAUTIFUL recommends it) and Alumier. This skincare language is soooo above my pay grade!!!…. I am learning but the time I’m fluent I’m too old or dead! Lol I also believe that many of us have this problem without knowing it and that’s why wrinkles form around the mouth that won’t go away. A deep dive into that rabbit hole would be awesome!!!

I finally started using sunscreen religiously this year, its always been a very on off thing, i just needed to explore sunscreens more to find the ones that I like that are in my budget so Im not afraid to apply liberally and daily and touch ups too, my skin has really improved so much between yes dietary changes, yess low sugar diet yesss, its less difficult than I really ever imagined, and the right products for my skin with your help and knowledge and my own read and studying and learning.ITs a long game thing but I think for me I can say I have seen changes over a 3-6 month period with being healthier and taking better care of my skin and my overall health this past year.Ok maybe its a year but I would rather see an improvement next year and make the changes than otherwise. This is a great subject about AGE's and glycation and I think a review of these important issues would be fantastic if you could dear Penny, Love you Penny!!!

Hi!😍😍. I just wanted to say that the mask ( MTS peptide Aqua gel mask)that you recommended after microneedling, was like a miracle to the dryness! That one is expensive, but amazing! Yes I still have some dryness, but my skin looks amazing, day 1/2 because of this! Thank you so much for your information! Last time that I microneedled didn’t go amazing, as I used osmosis rescue, the day after, and I broke out into an awful red rash after, which is why I waited extra time to do my following microneedling! Live and learn, but this time is night and day different! Beautiful skin with almost no real dryness, and inflammation! Thank you so much for all your help and research! You are the best!😍😍😍😍😍

Are ALL types of sugar damaging to the skin? I mean is their any distinction, for example, between the sugar in fresh fruit and the sugar high fructose corn syrup? At least fruit also has anti-oxidants and vitamins. I’d think not all sugars are equal and that some are better than others. Or perhaps the skin doesn’t distinguish between sugars. I love sweets, but have cut back. I did increase fresh fruits/veggies in my diet though because I wanted the anti oxidants properties. 😉

I am a sugarholic. Yes, my face looks similar to the pictures in your video. Can it all be reversed if I start eating right and use products topically as mentioned or will it only stop it from getting worse?
@elenacassandracastorpollux14
@elenacassandracastorpollux14 4 жыл бұрын
It will stop it from getting worse surely but sugar include complex carbohydrates pizza pasta etc. Limit the amount of the above and always choose wholemeal or partially substitute with chick peas green peas lentils and steamed vegetables oily fish and white meat. On the skin hexapeptides can help but also copper peptides should be helpful because if they can remodel scars means they remodel badly arranged collagen fibre. Take natural silica supplements - I take a brand called "Silicea" as the role of silica us to aid in the building of healthy collagen fibres as opposed to misshapen. Remember that the damage you see on the skin is also inside bones muscles etc. Take a good hair skin and nails supplement as even bones are connective tissue (4 5 dried prunes a day are said to re density the bones by 11% in a year and is cumulative) milk or soy milk or other milk make sure they contain calcium phosphate or tricalcio phosphate or triphosphate calcium as is the only time our body recognises and uses to build bones (and skin) and vit d. Dich the sugar your digestion will also emprove

Diane, you need to at least start the carnosine. Are you on metformin? you might need it. Please try chelated magnesium at bedtime, low magnesium can cause sugar craving. Sugar feed cancer please also consider drastically changing your diet.

How about gelatine (both beef and pork origins) and collagen with vitamine c? Empty stomac go for fast walk as to rise heart rate. Some studies found it kickstand collagen production. Dr Setterfield says that hexapeptides may help preventing glycation A LITTLE. Good diet is mandatory no precooked take aways crisps all junk food. That was such a timely video. I think it is also very important to note that it is not simply sugar that is the problem in AGE. All refined carbs and high glycemic index carbs act just like sugar in the body. Your research on using peptides with L-ascorbic acid was very helpful but I admit I still find the contradictory info out there frustrating. The Ordinary advises not to use their peptides with L-ascorbic acid, the Dr you researched apparently concurred with that but then Drunk Elephant, when I contacted them about using their Protini Cream with L-ascorbic acid, answered back that there was no problem whatsoever. I wish there were an independent source for this rather than those with peptide products they are selling. Sigh......

I SO agree that the contradictory info is incredibly frustrating! That said, when I researched beyond a particular vendor (who would have a reason to sway one way or another) the chemistry suggests to me (the non chemist) that mixing C and copper renders them useless. I’ll try and find the sources and share them with you (although I feel like I was all over the web lol). I am much more inclined to buy in to dr Pickart’s theory’s than the people at drunk elephant though I will say. 😊

Love these videos!!🥰 Can you please share your thoughts on The Ordinary serums, particularly their Buffet, and their Hyaluronic Acid 2% +B5. Ive asked this question several times on all your social media. Being in Australia, not all the products you recommend are available or affordable.😥 Thank you for sharing all your knowledge. I did my first .5ml rolling needeling last week, wish i had started years earlier!!🤣

@@easystatistic5377 hi, nope i didnt use any numbing cream. I have also used the .25ml roller with no pain issue, so for me the .5ml was absolutely bearable. Rember your not pushing it into your skin, just gentle rolling it over your skin. Give it a go, its certainly not as scary as you think😉😊

I just discovered your channel and I am literally binge watching all of you videos 😄 I have two questions: 1) Can you recommend a micro needle pen that I am able to use in Denmark? 2) I suffer quite severely from Keratosis Pilaris on my upper arm, and I know I am not alone. Do you have any recommendation for keeping the outbreaks in check? Keep up your amazing work. Sincerely Heidi

Once again well done Penn. There must be a genetic component to that glycation (or perhaps I'm wishful thinking). Both of my parents enjoyed sweets and had sweet tooth's and their skin actually looked great all the way into their 80s with no glycation and actually now that I think about it not that many wrinkles especially considering their age. Although I'm trying to take better care of my skin and sure like most other women I want to slow the aging process I'm not about to give up sugar 🤣

Just found out I have high blood sugar . Never dreamed I had I sugar because I’m at least 10 pounds underweight. But I checked it because I have neuropathy. Of course it’s slightly high . I read Dr Setterfield’s book and now I’m scared to Microneedle . Such a bummer . Hope I can reverse it all and get back to treating my skin . Is there a treatment you suggest for skin over 40 that’ll make a real difference in crows feet , hooded lids and crepey under eyes with deep tear troughs ? I’ll try the antioxidants. Gave up the sugar except once a week or so I allow myself a small treat . That’s it . Thank yo so much 🥰. I feel better cutting out sugar . Less achy and more energy.

Eat some high quality cheese if you crave sugar. It helps me with my cravings, since some cheese naturally has a sweet flavor to it. Unless its in my head. LOL I also made a huge batch of chicken foot stalk to have as a collagen supplement to save money. I just keep it in my fridge and add it to eggs with butter and it is very good and cheaper than collagen supplement, and it is probably more bioavailable anyway. What is also great is you can reuse the chicken feet a few times later to make more broth. So it will provide major savings and is already cheaper than supplements. Yum and when you drink the chicken foot broth warm with even just only a little salt it is very tasty, relaxing, and will relieve you're stress before bedtime.

Hi Penny! Love your Channel and your endless stream of wisdom ❤️ I live in Scandinavia and im interested in learning how much harmful UVA-radiation in fact can reach my skin when the UV-index is 0,1-0,3 (the level from mid oct. to mid march in the Nordic countries)? Is it even necessary for me to wear SPF with that low of a UV-index? ☀️ I find SPF-lotions to be comedogenic and I am acne prone, but also am battleing hyperpigmentation on my forehead and cheeks after many years of tanning.

Thanks Penny! I appreciate your work and dedication! I am 65 with cross hatched skin. They cross hatches are further apart, especially on cheeks. Not sure if I have Glycation or Solar Elastosis or it’s just my bone disease Osteogenesis Imperfectae. It is a collagen defective disease I was born with. My main question is if you do collagen building procedures ; micro needling, fibroblast, threads, will it just make it worse? What do you recommend?
