I'm going to say it. Get mad all you want. Spencer Sotelo is one of the greatest singers of all time. No matter the genre. His vocal range is so rediculously wide. He is brutal lows and extremely beautiful highs. I'm sorry if you dont agree with me, but in one song his voice changes more than in some singers entire careers. Spencer is by far the perfect person for Periphery. I wish this band nothing but luck.
@VectorSan10 жыл бұрын
Hell yeah dude! Spencer has got some killer skill! And he's getting better with each album they write. He's drastically improved since the Self Titled album and with what i heard from him live last year in october, He's KILLING it.
@mikescanlan465310 жыл бұрын
Vector-San Yea definetly, I mean he was a great singer always, but his hole yelling/screaming/whateverthefuck style vocals were hard to listen to in the first album..atleast for me. He has improved greatly. Such a talented singer.

I agree. Anyone who at least doesn't realize that is too insecure in their "metal sexuality" because metal should only have guttural vocals, endless blastbeats and infinite chugs.

As a fan of metal for over a decade this has got to be my #1 favorite song. The entire trilogy is amazing but the near-instrumental aspect of this song with the transition to clean vocals wrecks my soul. NEVER STOP DOING WHAT YOU'RE DOING!

+Alexandre Piché For a lot of metal/progressive/hard rock guys it is a small set. A snare, 2 floor toms and a bass. I wouldn't call this a tiny ass set but given the genre and what the drumsets tend to look like in that genre it is a smallish set.

+ElektrobanK its not progressive metal , its very hard djent
@digital-alchemist9 жыл бұрын
+pashul1n "Djent" is a controversial term for a "sub-genre" of progressive metal. Most bands that are labeled as "djent" don't use the term. I don't know about Periphery, but I imagine they could care less about labels. People are way too concerned with labeling music. I'd rather just listen and enjoy. So what I should have said is: "This is some badass metal" and left it at that. Because at least there is no disputing that Periphery is metal. Have a nice day.
@pashul1n9 жыл бұрын
ok :)
@MeeksOpry9 жыл бұрын
Idiots that don't know music made djent a label and it's not.
@ellisjhsullivan75048 жыл бұрын
I dont think the problem so much is that 'Djent' is not a label. Because it is a label, the problem is that the 'idiots' don't really have any specifications as to what Djent actually is. Some people think throwing in a downtuned 8 instantly makes it Djent and tbh that's bullshit. Anyhow, the label doesn't really matter because either way Periphery kick ass xD
@yourself88xbl5 жыл бұрын
The way this song plays on the melodic idea from the begining of the album and then mixes the main theme of the song back in with that transition gives that intro riff such a unique sound compared to the begining. These little details are what keeps me coming back.

Forty days and nights I've spent alone The shadow hungry angel inside of me grows cold Bloodshed on my mind A slave to these walls Get away from the life sucking call Set me free Grant a pardon for the meddling soul The lives of the fallen deserve to take the spirits toll Within the asylum of a guilty fucking conscience I feel the presence of insanity Creep up my spine To lock me away in this hell Death has made its abode on my shoulders It clings to the palm of my hand eternally Within ascendance I shall relive the slaughtering You'll sing to the dirt, praying for the break of dawn Night will bring the presence of a ravenous demon setting out to terrify Soul destructive like imploding stars There's nothing but the darkness to guide the way There's nothing left inside Scald the inside Fold the endless search within you Scale the insight, for the day it lies before us Somewhere in time Off in the distance we can see, shining, clear, our demise to be We're not listening to ourselves Somewhere in time, we welcomed in the midnight leave But in the distance we can see, shining, clear, our demise to be We're not listening to ourselves
