Garnt talked about "Annihilation" and asked for something similar. So the plot of this film is actually a copy of the Soviet science fiction novel "Roadside Picnic" written by the Strugatsky brothers in 1972. In the story aliens make an emergency landing somewhere on our planet and fly away, leaving behind an anomalous zone, inside which strange things happen and the laws of physics change. This novel also became the basis for the film Stalker (1979) by Andrei Tarkovsky and the famous game "S.T.A.L.K.E.R".

if Joey has problems hearing people (esp with competing noise), then his hearing problems may be more so based on an Auditory Processing Disorder (which i have too! and it is a condition that is part of the Deaf & Hard Of Hearing community!). it's where your ears are fine, but the part of your brain that processes noise/language has been impacted. so hearing a car door slam down the street is fine; but trying to hear someone 2 feet in front of you when you can't see their lips is hard. it's why i can't go to loud areas with friends to have a conversation or why i won't understand a new song without the lyrics in front of me or why i cant hear the driver of a car very well when i am in the backseat i dont know what video about health Joey is talking about, but if the hearing test was just the Beep Test that he got an A on -- that makes sense. there's a lot of criticisms about the Beep Test, esp since it only grades based on the one type of hearing that doesn't require really any processing. you're in a silent room, listening for beeps of usually identical tones. it doesn't test for a lot, even though a lot goes into the ability for humans to hear and process what they hear into properly listening (again, esp in terms of language) i hope this helps give him a lead towards whatever hearing problem he has, along with anybody who faces similar problems!! Auditory Processing Disorders are a hard thing to test for (mostly bc people who know how to test for it are in low-supply but high-demand, which makes the test $$$), but i hope knowing that It Is A Thing You Could Have helps some people out!

About the season debate: As someone from Finland, winter is the worst. The roads get icy and you have to analyse the road to find the least slippery patch of it, so you trot along at the speed of a penguin and hope you won't slip. Also there's about four hours of sun, and while I like the dark, too much of it gets depressing. Winter's nice to look at, but not to be in.
@TalonKarrde033 жыл бұрын
Vitamin D tablets! Lethargy happens because of the lack of vitamin D. Our skin produces vitamin D from the sun. So Garnt is correct. Also I feel your pain I use to live in Whitehorse Yukon north of the 60th parallel winters were not nice.

We don't get it as bad as you guys (I'm from Romania), but the same deal is over here whenever winter rolls around. Any other trip you'd make in the other seasons to get some groceries basically becomes a gauntlet. And in the city, there's more BS, since no one has any sense of responsibility, so sidewalks are never cleared of snow and sometimes even the streets take a while for crews to get to. If you own a car, good luck getting to work, you wake up 2 hours in advance to clear it and the spot it's in, only to sit an hour and a half in traffic each way, come back and find your cleared spot taken by someone else. Then you go to Facebook and see everyone posting dumb motivational quotes with snowy backgrounds and feel like shoveling them in the back of the head... And then you get to Summer at the end of July where you get 3 days in a row where you get 42 Centigrade in the shade and realistically about 45 the second you step out the door and all you can think of is how good you had it when you were shovelling that snow :|

My favourite part about the Emu war was the fact that the Australian military at the time was using tripod mounted, water cooled Vickers machine guns and still were unable to deal the sheer amount of birds, so at one point they actually mounted the guns onto the back of trucks to chase after the birds when they ran away. Despite all of this they still lost the war, and I believe the total loss of ammunition was about 10,000 rounds, which at current price of .303 ammunition is approximate 52 dollars (US) for a box of 20 rounds, 10,000 rounds would require at least 500 boxes of ammo equaling out to 26,000 usd in current market conditions. That is the initial conflict that took place in 1932, later in 1950 the government released another 500,000 rounds of .303 ammunition to farmers to hopefully take care of the problem once and for all.
@CyanPhoenix_3 жыл бұрын
to be fair it was basically just a few people from the military with a couple of machine guns, tasked with dealing with a massive population of emus across western australia. you can technically say that they "lost" because emus were still an issue to the surrounding crops, but considering those few people killed thousands of birds it seems a bit weird to put it that way imo.

@@hallemay They work fine, depends on the environment if it's open or not. Besides this is a 3rd-world country, not all of us are privilaged enough to live in places with AC :') Luckly for me I do hihi

My god, Metro Manila was ducking hot. I'm a person from Baguio, I'm not used to that level of heat. As soon as I got out of the temperature regulated bus, I almost like fainted. And we also arrived in the middle of the night so how the f is it so hot?

Autumn and Winter are the BEST. No contest. Better weather (i.e.: not f'in hot). Better holidays. Better food.
