I think Xueyi suffers from the fate of a number of 4-stars in both Genshin and HSR. I'm pretty sure a number of 4-stars are released as trial concepts with the intention of finding weaknesses and strengths from the massive playerbase, and then a 5-star is released which has the weakness addressed. Basically, a lot of 4-stars are beta tests for 5-stars.

imo, she has what i call 1.0 syndrome. that is too many stats required to fully use their kit. she not only need BE and SPD, she also need crit and atk. another example is fire mc, a tank that not only need hp and def. they also need eff hitrate and spd ( maybe atk if you want to fully use their scaling). 2.0 char has a more streamlined scaling. like aventurine only need def and crit dmg to function or any break char released in 2.0 only really care about spd and BE.

well she came out before super break even became a thing so she's not exactly really meant to be "THE" super break unit. if anything she strives more on a hypercarry team. her having a break effect conversion to DMG% shows just how she wasn't exactly meant for the role as super break DPS and super break in general doesnt really scale off DMG% buffs. on a quantum weak side and before super break was even introduced, she can literally be played without a sustain while dealing like 130-150k damage on her skill plus around the same damage on the follow up or ULT. so a skill into a FUA or an ULT into a FUA is basically getting you almost 300k damage most of the time.

For the breath efficiency I just give Xueyi Misha's LC. It gives Crit Damage boost and Break Effect when she uses her Ult which is nice

@@hat1324 unlikely. Only HI3 had something similiar for signature weapons/new weapons or PRI version upgrades. But obviously that was only for S (aka 5-star) characters. Overall Hoyo politic in that regard that if character was released on live servers - no changes will be made to them, no matter how weak or OP they end up. Only examples of changes are a very few "bug fixes" attempts and Zhong LI as far as I can recall.

Surprised you never mentioned Exo-Toughness, which allows her to generate Karma stacks while enemies are broken, and doesn't require her to match the Weakness Types of enemies (although she'd still have to get through the initial Toughness Bar somehow).

I'll be getting her anyway since she'll be a good character for my account, but it's mostly for Xueyi in the hopes that she'll finally become more useable in endgame content.

Honestly, she also works in Super Break. Remember she is the 4 star break DPS in a sea of 5 stars. I tested her at E6 myself and she was able to handle MoC np if they are weak to Quantum. She isn’t zero cycling, but she can 3 star clear it.

It's very easy to keep Xueyi relevant to my account, it's the same way I kept Gallagher relevant too - by just not pulling for any better break dps 😂 But yeah, well, she's a 4-star. She was bound to have limitations and issues that would put her behind the new shiny 5-star alternatives. Most didn't stand a chance to begin with and while Xueyi was among the rare ones who did (Pela, Tingyun, Qingque, Gui, etc.), even those have since been "replaced" by premium versions who do the same, but better.

Fugue gives enemies Exo-Toughness just by existing (and also enables Super Break) which means more opportunity for Xueyi to gain stacks. One of my favourite ways to run Xueyi is with Ruan Mei, HTB and my highly invested Sparkle. Xueyi gets the best out of her kit's strengths and scaling from these supports to where she still hits pretty hard vs unbroken enemies, and absurdly hard vs weakness broken enemies, especially with her ult in play. In spots where this team isn't sort of 'walled' as a result of a few disfavourable factors, I have experienced some of the most rewardingly lightning fast clears. It's very fun when it meshes well with the content. With a certain future character, this team might hopefully be even more enjoyable, and more consistent. 😇

I know this is kind of weird, but for whatever reason when I first saw Xueyi, and saw what she could do, I analyzed her kit and said "Sushang". And following usage rates, I was exactly correct on that assessment. She seems like a high investment character that can't see the return on relic investment due to being a 4*, and reminded me of how Sushang doesn't have a proper team that would prefer her to her competition either, and that was a lot of Sushang's problem.

Xueyi biggest problem to me is how hard she is to build. Unlike most super break character who only need spd and break effect, Xueyi also needs atk, dmg, crit rate and crit dmg. This makes faing for her artifact extremely hard and time consuming. Not only that, Xueyi is also held back by her having 4-star stats. She needs high investment but the return is low.

As far as I could tell, her biggest 2 problems to me, are 1: Being quantum means longer time between breaks which used to suck before harm TB, and quantum also does less break damage than others like fire. And 2: she has 4 star stats, so no matter how strong you build her, she cannot match the damage a 5 star does. I'm hoping we eventually get level 90 for characters to get some more stats in the mix, but she works really well compared to other 4 stars like Yukong.

I mean for me, my xueyi is running the iron cavalry and talia sets with a 1:2 crit ratio (hitting the minimum speed and super break) with ruan mei, himeko, and herta. I haven't been keeping up with the Fugue stuff, but I THINK I remember reading that her skill will implant weakness on the enemy that matches the element of the ally she buffs. If that's the case... then could us Xueyi mains rise up again?

@@jackmanleblanc2518nah, they’ll probably just fold her toughness reduction effectiveness into her base kit Every Break DPS has a way to ignore weakness by implanting it or ignoring it outright, so an implant wouldn’t buff them a lot

I am an owner of E6 Xueyi. I have 3 different sets built for her. Hybrid, crit, and full break. I have Firefly's lightcone, and Yunli's lightcone that I rock with her. And e2s1 Ruan Mei. I really do enjoy this character. She has seen some benefits with the 'exo toughness' bar as it still gives her stacks for her follow up after the enemy is broken. We will get a exo toughness support character next version. All that said, I also have Yunli and E1 Firefly. If i use Xueyi, it is because I want to. I want to see her pushing beyond her limits. She's just like that passion project I have for the game. There is just something about when she pops off 3 follow ups in a row, that each break enemies and then ults the boss. I will say she has a really great use in Simulated universe. She can take advantage of many buff branches and thrives there in ways 5* options don't.

If Xueyi could get 1 stack from anyone landing a hit on a weakness broken target, then that alone would make her totally fine in the super break meta. It's truly tragic how both Hanya and Xueyi have just kind of fallen to the wayside. The sisters are my favourite HSR characters.

you're not wrong but in the brief window before march 7th hunt was a thing and after superbreak was a thing, i made an alt account out of boredom in 2.3 and xueyi superbreak with rm speedran the progression of that account so hard, and also having access to harmony mc as soon as you finish belobog iirc is insane, superbreak completely trivializes the story content and so much of the endgame as well. but yeah, even if you didn't have any 5* break dps, march 7th just does a lot better in xueyi in the superbreak role just from having inherently broken mechanics regarding toughness damage. it's not the same as xueyi's ult/fua colorless toughness dmg but its overall way better and more versatile

Well you can ignore the 240 damage bonus and go full break and only includes her when dealing with single boss type only problem now most got quantum entanglement resistance

Congratulations, you just described the entire problem with my main team in one video. gallagher literally ends up being a better break dps than xueiyi because of trailblazer and ruan mei

I never really build Xueyi for Superbreak because that implies getting her break% over the 240% her passive provides for. Consider that with her best LC which already gives a bunch of break effect and crit chance, while Ruan Mei and Harmony trailblazer give a bunch more you don't really need to invest on it much on Xueyi herself as post buffs she will hit the cap anyway. So instead you focus more on crit chance and attack and make the general output of her kit higher so that evidently you still hit monstrously and superbreak instead of being majority of your dps is a nice addition onto your base dps. Plus she has unique synergy with Tingyun and other characters that add elemental damage to other characters as Xueyi's damage buff applies to all damage types not just Quantum which causes Tingyun's bonus lightning damage with her buff to hit ludicrously hard. To the point Xueyi's ST damage is as high as hunt characters and she really only struggles with multiple enemies. Granted the problem with Xueyi is sort of the same problem as Seele and Jing Liu in that she is a hyper carry and will not reach her full damage potential without at least 3 characters buffing her and she has low synergy with a 2nd dps usually unless its Jade but anyway. I still think comparing her to other superbreak dps characters just because she scales with break effect is a poor comparison when what she does is different. Her kit was made to be futureproofed in the case of Superbreak being the meta but has to deal with her kit being more designed to be in line with Hypercarries.

The only way to make her consistently viable with the fua bonus is if they lowered the stacks from 8 to 6. This way, having her at E6 would make her viable compared to newer hunter units. She isn't a hunt character, but they gave her that kit which makes her be comparable to Moze.

i tried to build xueyi as a dps for the other side of MOC, I stopped after I realised I had a yanqing(5 stars generally being better than 4 stars). Im not sure what I expected. my build isn't the best but she output decent damage(I started playing near the end of 2.3)

If you have her at E6 she is probably comparable if not better than Yanqing.

I've been a Xueyi main ever since she came out, but I've almost never been able to use her for any of the three endgame modes. It's hard enough to build her correctly (I have 2.3k ATK, 138 SPD, 59.7-125.1 CRIT, and base 153 Break Effect), requiring quite the stat spread if you're going for CRIT, and otherwise forgoing her A2 passive and rendering her follow-up almost useless if you're playing Super Break. I'll be getting Fugue E1 to see if she's better than Mei, and also just for general use, but it sucks that what, on the surface, seems like a pretty unique and strong kit ends up failing in almost every aspect, even to a small degree. She's still my only character to have completely maxed out traces, is E6 (accidentally got Mei E2), and I'll always enjoy playing her, it just sucks that she's one of the worse characters in the game.

Seeing how these characters have missing or incomplete kits makes me a little sad. The hard cap of teammates contribution to Xueyi's stacks just pains me. Super break and BE scaling were also much needed since launch to have the archetype make sense, too much downtime in between breaks that they have to diversify into crits (im looking at you, Sushang E4), coupled with the introduction of Ruan Mei, which meant even less breaks. I use Yanqing quite a lot, and i feel that he could really benefit from some Break archetype inclusion into his kit, given he has pretty solid toughness damage, albeit a little RNG, among the 1.0 cast. Now, the only reasonable use for him is to storm off Robin's ult with his above average attack frequency (RNG followup and high speed buffs).

I always felt like Xueyi was a Crit-Break hybrid with an anti-synergistic kit. She wants to build BE to maximize her DMG buff and needs to reduce toughness to deal damage with her follow-up attack (which is basically half of her damage) but because she's quantum, enemies stay weakness broken a lot longer meaning she can't get more stacks. On the SB side Xueyi really not hitting hard nor reduce toughness of non-quantum weak enemies unless she Ults and her huge DMG buff is useless cause BE doesn't scale with DMG (which feels like they intended to do that but didn't fsr). I agree that they should have made it so she can get Karma stacks with her follow-up attack and weakness broken enemies (her E2 is probably the worst eidolon in the game). They could balance it out with Xueyi getting less stacks.

My Xueyi never really delt great damage, I had so much trouble with her that I gave up and kept using QQ when I wanted a quantum DPS. Then SB happened, and of course Firefly changed everything
