My dad and brother were extras in this movie, so I've seen this many times. I was laughing SO hard during this, because you hit it spot on LOL. My dad was sometimes a double for Mario. Near the end when Mario is loading the bullet for the flying shoes, (wtf is up with those too!) thats my dads hand loading the bullet. My brother is staring straight at the camera after King Kupa is slimmed standing behind Princess Daisy LOL. I loved this and will be sharing this with them!

It was an odd movie for sure. It was from 1993 and a lot of it was about what life would be like if Trump was president. King Koopa was styled after him, as were rather a lot of other movie villains. It has a weird amount of depth and prophetic political commentary for a movie which was supposed to be about Mario Bros. To be fair most adults at the time did not understand or respect video games or the gaming culture. I would not be shocked if they thought this movie was similar to what the game was actually like. That and kids have a high tolerance for bad movies. I remember liking the Garbage Pail Kids movie. As an adult I can't even finish 25 minutes of that one.

Having watched a bunch of videos about how this mess of a movie got made, the studio basicly gave the keys to the entire project to a pair of unknown directors that didn't want to make a Mario movie and lied to get the gig. They wanted to make a cyberpunk sci-fi movie and decided to use the massive budget at their disposal to make their project instead and just slapped mario names on everything. The studio not being video game fans, didn't really understand what they were making and just went along with it
