Everyone seems to miss the fact that with Thor's arc in the film was about how even the strongest people have a breaking point, and and that your body shape and your depression don't effect your worthiness.
@cryofpaine
@cryofpaine 5 жыл бұрын
YES! Which is why he called Mjolnir to him. Stormbreaker doesn't have the worthiness restriction. So even though it's more powerful, he needed Mjolnir to show himself that he was still worthy. And I think that that's also why he was so happy to see Cap be able to wield it - because he had reached that point of doubting himself and came back from there, he was far more secure in himself.
@Aniaschance
@Aniaschance 5 жыл бұрын
Exactly! I actually really loved his character
@lulu_749
@lulu_749 5 жыл бұрын
It wasn't difficult to miss, but it would have been far more impactful if it was more subtle. Thor reached his breaking point and next thing you know hes a goofy idiot for the entirety of the movie. It didn't feel like a gradual change as it did with Nebula (whose character development I was the most satisfied with). To me it felt like an entirely different character. I really thought the conversation with his mother would bring him some sort of peace, enough to resume his role protecting Asgard which is all he's ever fought for- but instead he chooses to go with the Guardians? I wasn't sold on that, based on all we know about Thor from previous films he wouldn't choose himself.

I just like how accurately he flicked Antman, and him playing and basically letting Nebula win while teaching her. When he says "you win" her shock shows, she probably sees Tony as a father figure, and given her relationship with Thanos, that you win ment alot to her.

It was more emotional for Black Widow to die. She was raised as a soulless assassin, and her whole arc is her gaining a soul. The soul stone requires a soul, and she closed her arc by sacrificing the soul she so dearly wanted.

Yeah I absolutely love Hawkeye he's been my favorite since I got into Marvel when I was a kid, but I also really love Black Widow, so that was pretty emotional for me because I love them both a lot so I didn't want any of em to die. But honestly I prepared myself for it to be Hawkeye. But I also couldn't tell who it was gonna be because one second I thought him, then the next her, then the next him again, etc....then when it happened I cried because I thought about this I'm like ugh like sure he has his family that he's gonna get back so he should be there but...the team was her family so they both have families to live for....ugh. But I'm lowkey also happy they added more to Hawkeye's story.

I have to disagree. I would hate if Tony was cameoing and it doesn’t make sense for his character. He would want to be involved or else he wouldn’t be able to rest- insert pepper’s quote from Endgame. And also Stan Lee cameoed because he was the founder, he built these hero’s from the ground up. Not Tony. I like Tony don’t get me wrong, but I think Stan Lee should remain as the sole cameoer not Tony or Deadpool or any other people. But I do understand and would love if they include the old OG Avengers in the new movies. Like how Nick would show up to help. He wasn’t necessarily a cameo just a character and that’s what I think would make sense and please people most

So I wouldn't necessarily say Tony it doesn't fit his character. For any of the movies coming out in the future see in the past, it would be cool to see Cap cameo there because that would have been him on his journey to bring the stones back which is no easy feat. Since we know nothing about this journey besides the fact he completed his task it would be nice closure.

I think Natasha had to die. Not because Clint needed to return to his family but because she couldn’t be the reason a child lives without a family member. My only slight issue about Nat dying is that it implies that Nat is the person Clint loves the most, as opposed to his wife or kids. I can see ways around it like he romantically loves his wife the most but the hardships and years of emotional bonding he's done with Nat reasonably outweighs it or that since his family couldn't be sacrificed due to being snapped away Nat was next on the 'People Clint Values' list but I dunno, it kinds felt like it was undercutting his love for his wife and kids.
@jennaedwards1485
@jennaedwards1485 5 жыл бұрын
Here's what I think about the original 6 during the five years. They are all mourning but in different ways. You see Cap trying to help people move on because he's been mourning and trying to move on honestly since the end of The First Avenger. You have Natasha trying to do whatever she can to help the world because she feels like she failed it. You have Hulk trying to make good out what has happened by becoming Professor Hulk and doing the same thing as Nat. You have then Thor going into a DEEP depression, feeling he has lost all meaning in life, and failed everyone and everything. Then we have Tony, trying to keep something good in his life with Pepper and Morgan, and trying to forget everything that has happened and isolating him and his family. But you still see sadness in him when he looks at the picture of him and Peter. Then you have Clint, who is trying to wipe the pain away with blood, and trying to believe he is doing good by ridding the world of people who he thinks should have died in the snap. And I think that was the reason for Ronin, to show his grief.

@seanperson2032 5 жыл бұрын
Bro Loki is alive after endgame. They go back in time and accidentally help Loki get the tesseract to escape captivity. They then just jumped further back in time to get the tesseract and then cap took it back to that earlier time, meaning they never fixed the point in time where they accidentally helped Loki escape. Ergo there is now a version of Loki who escaped at that time point which would create a new timeline where Loki isn't dead and has the tesseract.

Okay I know I'm late, but for me I thought they passed the shield to Sam because of what they could do with him. Cap is supposed to represent America, now Sam represents America. A black man. Now I'm not trying to make everything about race but there are some powerful things you can do with is on a cultural and societal level. To those who are upset that it's not Bucky, it was never going to be Bucky. Bucky was never one to walk in caps shadow, but along side him. Plus in black panther he was given the name white wolf. Bucky has his own destiny to fulfill. It would've been nice to see Morgan be a medley of the two, but marvel has other things instore

KittyPlayz1 That or the fact that the people view him as a literal super soldier terrorist lol. Since Civil War he was viewed that way, “killing” the king of Wakanda, and then killing more people when Zemo unleashed him. He was kept in Wakanda away from everything until Infinity War, then was dusted. Who knows though. Maybe their Disney+ show will have Sam earn the shield(I don’t think he’s earned it yet) and Bucky show the world that the Winter Soldier is not him anymore. Sucks we gotta wait until August of next year though.

I thought that the time traveling rules were very clear. Whatever you change in the past will not change your present time. It will only create a new timeline but it won't be the main timeline. The main timeline is unchangeable basically. So when Loki left with the space stone that created a new timeline but in the main timeline he is still dead.

The scene with Thor and his Mother, along with summoning the hammer ... that's one of my favorite scenes. I personally think that only people who have lost their mother will understand scene. My mother died over a decade ago. I would give anything for five minutes with her. Also, to understand that scene, you need to understand depression. Thor defeated Thanos, but not in time to prevent the snap. That can heavily shatter a person's self confidence. Having such recognition as the Hammer coming to him ... that would be seriously build up a person's self confidence.

The Thor ark in this movie in my opinion was really good. All the way through the mcu thor has always been a strong character as in he knows his place in the world he knew his entire destiny. Of course he goes through self growth through the entire saga and we see him become who he really is that’s why we get the more funny and comedic thor by the time we get to Ragnarok. But the one thing he never truly deals with is his grief, it starts with his mother, then father, then both heimdal and loki. Those last two death brought him as close to loosing it mentally as it could and we see that vulnerability during the majority of Infinity War. But he still latches on to his destiny to be victorious and that he’ll vanquish Thanos. But he doesn’t, he had the opportunity but he failed but that realisation that he failed didn’t truly sink in till thanos revealed that he destroyed the stones and that’s the end of it he can’t do anymore. For Thor now he had nothing else to live for. No higher meaning no greater challenge because he lost half of the universe because he didn’t go for the head and that sent him deep into his depression where he lost all sense of himself. The journey he goes through in Endgame truly emphasises the effect depression can have on us and we see Thor constantly battle his inner demons throughout the film until the scene with his mother. In that scene Thor realises that he faild at who he was supposed to be, which was all he was ever told he was going to be, king of asgard. But he never truly embraced who he was. And the most important scene in his development this movie was when he summoned his hammer proving to him that no matter what he’d been through he was still worthy. By the time we get to the fight between Thanos and the big three Thor doesn’t revert back to his “normal” state because that would deliver completely the wrong message to what he’d just learned and what we the audience learned about depression. Not being depressed anymore or at least accepting and start to get past it doesn’t mean you go back completely to the way you were before. There will always be ever lasting scars and he must work through those things in order to get back on track. But the main message from this to us the audience is that no matter what you’ve been through no matter how many times you fail, or how many loved ones you loose. It doesn’t make u any less worthy. It doesn’t make you any less of a man. No matter what you’ll always be worthy.

I feel like you guys kind of missed a little bit of the point with Thor's arc. When he called Mjolnir to him on Asgard it wasn't because he just wanted it, he wanted to know if he was still worthy after having failed so many times. He let himself go because he felt like he wasn't worthy of being "Thor" anymore. And I like that he didn't go back to his old self in the end. Enormous emotional/mental upheavals don't just resolve themselves straight back to "normal"

@treeinafield5022
@treeinafield5022 5 жыл бұрын
was he really "crushed" by his obligations? I always thought thor's character arc was to transform from being arrogant and careless to becoming a wise king worthy of odin's throne and role in leading the asgardians. In thor ragnarok it was a big turning point for thor's character that odin finally thinks he's ready and passes on to him the leadership of the asgardians, which was denied from him by Odin from the first Thor movie. The loss of his eye was even symbolic of how he has now become like Odin worthy to become king of the asgardians. Odin waited so long to give Thor the throne just for thor to give it away? Thor being glad of being "free" from his duties from asgard just felt very out of character for me.
@cisio64123
@cisio64123 5 жыл бұрын
Exactly ! Thor had been crushed by his failure to live up to the grand expectations everyone, including himself, had placed on him. It took his mom to make him see that those expectations were unrealistic and impossible to have achieved from the start. She made him realize he had to be himself and stop trying to live up to some idea of who he should be. In going with the Guardians of the Galaxy he is finally free and can forge a new path that could actually make him more of who he always wanted to be now that he is free of any expectations.

@@treeinafield5022 I can see this perspective and it sways me slightly, my comment was coming right off of Endgame and I was quite excited about most of what occurred. I have to say though I still believe this makes sense for him. Him being the child of Odin is what tethered him to Asgard, and he took his role seriously of course, but loss will do a lot to a person and I believe that without any family left he feels without purpose. He cares about his people, and with him being so out of it, so clearly not himself, for *years*, a drunkard and depressed, he most likely saw that appointing Valkyrie was a great option, she could lead them, and he can lead a different life altogether. That's not to say I wasn't a little disappointed. It wasn't a direction I expected at all. I was imagining him retiring to be with his people, on a throne as a old man mirroring Odin by the end of his life, but in reality, maybe this is coming from someone with a lot of familial obligations himself, I think that him being free is kind of awesome.

One of the best moments in the entire movie was during the battle when Hawkeye was running with the gauntlet and he passed it to black panther and then he passed it to spider man and then he passed it to captain marvel. It was a literal and metaphorical passing of the gauntlet from one of the original avengers (Hawkeye)to a few of the the main phase 4 hero’s (black panther spider man and captain marvel). It was like the OG avengers were passing on the marvel universe torch to the new era heros it was amazingly directed.
