Darkseid doesn't love granny, he's not capable of feeling love, he could've cloned Kara, and it would've been easier, but he specifically wants to break her spirit and use her against her family because that would hurt both of them the most, all the factories and slave labor and terrible machines on Apokolips don't produce anything, they're there exclusively for the sake of harm, torture, and suffering, Darkseid is not just an evil person, Darkseid IS evil, personified, he can never be truly, fully beaten, only kept at bay

Supergirl has been written out and rebooted many times in the comics, each time different from the last, and the on-screen portrayals follow that same pattern. There really isn't any one widely accepted "correct" interpretation of Supergirl and her origin. The only constant (or near-constant) is pretty much that, unlike Superman, she was old enough when she lost everything that she remembers it. That makes her a very different immigrant story than Superman.

13:52. That's exactly why I have a lot of problems with many iterations of Wonder Woman. Even in good versions, she acts like so high and mighty. In DCAU, she is also ridiculous mean to Hawkgirl. I know she is in good side but I always got the impression that I can't even reason with her. She will punch your face if you say no. And she won't explain to you just straightforward telling you that you are wrong. If we compare with Batman, who is famous for not being friendly, he might be jerk and say some hurtful things to Kara, but he always has a rational reason behind it. In many iterations we know he is not the type of person to be friendly but we totally understand his point. But Wonder Woman is like "I don't need to explain to you, I'm right, you are wrong. Get out of my way or I punch you."

One thing I’ll say is that there hasn’t been a good JLA movie about the ‘Identity Crisis’ stories, which explains the real reason Batman becomes the trustless cynic he’s portrayed as here. He didn’t use to be so logic over reason, and it’s because of the League; granted, the comic that explains it has some really triggering stuff, but with a SEVERE rewrite it’d make way more sense and be way better.

So, I was there to watch "Little Girl Lost" when it first aired. Likewise with this one, fifteen or twenty years later. Obviously, I'm really biased towards Little Girl Lost. Her First Flight scene in that show... it's always stirred my heart and brought tears to my eyes. It's a subtle difference, without really thinking about the details. For Clark, of course flying was a joy. But it was also a joy rooted in his uncertainty about who and what he was - how he could do the things he can do. For Kara, her whole life has been blown up - literally. She was a teen when Krypton/Argo was destroyed. She had a life, a family, a culture and history. An identity rooted in that place. All gone. Like Clark, she finds a welcoming home on Earth. She finds the planet beautiful (as should we all) - but it isn't her world. She has a guide, in her cousin, who can tell her why she has the powers she's gaining, and how to control them in hours or days, instead of weeks or years. In all of this upheaval... she flies. Like any earthbound mortal who's suddenly been given wings, she FLIES..! There's freedom, joy, boundless possibilities... and the space to feel all of her pain. That scene - and Shirley's absolutely stunning score - are true treasures for me. Between "Little Girl Lost" and "Apocalypse, Now!", that whole team was really pushing the bar. But Walker, in particular, accomplished some truly amazing things. When I think of the ancient ruins of Gods, I hear the score from Mother Box's explanation of Apocalypse and New Genesis. When I think of fallen Heroes, I hear the tragically sweet piano that plays as Superman stands weeping over Dan Turpin's perfect epitaph. And when I think of freedom, when I feel joy for having survived my life's tragedies, when I'm thankful for every gold scar on this ol' piece of Kintsugi, I hear Kara Zor'El's theme as she soars over Smallville, Kansas. Thank you for attending my Ted Talk.

Batman’s no-killing rule gets reinterpreted all the time. It lands somewhere between “if I take a life I will turn into a crazy murderer” and what I think is a more reasonable “I’m not an executioner so I don’t want to kill criminals; I want to submit them to the judgement of the law.” Batman fans tend to grow up with one interpretation of Batman and get a little myopic about their favourite interpretation of that rule. P.s. great react! Looking forward to more. There is a lot of fun in this but it’s definitely one of the weaker animated DC offerings. It’s kinda cheesy - not a great representation of Darkside, Granny Goodness, Doomsday. DCAU does the best rendition of Darkseid outside of comics, bar none. We’re all looking forward to you carrying on through Justice League and JLU. :)

It lands somewhere between “if I take a life I will turn into a crazy murderer” and what I think is a more reasonable “I’m not an executioner so I don’t want to kill criminals; I want to submit them to the judgement of the law.”"_ IMHO DC Comics (for whatever reason) avoid giving us the simple logical explanation; Killing is counterproductive to the misson because the mission isn't to save Gotham City, it is to help good people save Gotham City and Jim Gordon isn't helped by getting a vigilante killer to hunt down.
@freefall9452 сағат бұрын
@ exactly right. It’s a rule that was created for a vigilante detective cleaning up a city with a corrupt system and outrageous crime. That’s why the wheels start coming off when he’s fighting aliens or vampires or goes back in time to fight in Bastonne. Under those circumstances, trying to mash his “I don’t kill criminals” code into the situation is ludicrous. But fans (and some authors!) do it.
