Christopher Reeve went to Juilliard, so even though he played a comic book hero at a time when it was considered career suicide, he took that role seriously and researched all of the Superman lore to that point. Really a shame didn't get more work. He was a great actor

By the fourth movie, they were mid-budget films barely breaking even on after-marketing box office. People have these positive memories of the people acting in these films, but the films themselves plummeted in quality and box office after the Donner Superman. To this day, even adjusted for inflation, Batman v Superman and Man of Steel are the most profitable Superman films in history, followed by Donner Superman.

The least believable thing about this movie is that Superman wipes out all of the world's nukes, arms dealers suddenly spool up 50,000 centrifuges to refine enough material to replace them, and the countries that want the nukes don't just do the exact same thing with their hundreds of billions of dollars and teams of nuclear scientists.

They did do Bizarro but it was a weird Frankenstein's Monster looking thing. It was Luthor's first creation before he made Nuclear Man. The whole subplot was removed. You can find some of those deleted scenes.

Fun Fact - This was the first movie I saw in a cinema too!!! For years I had a memory of my mum waking me up and taking me to see the first Superman Movie in my Pyjamas... It was only later in life I realised it was not Superman I but Superman IV. 😮

I'd never watched the Chris reeves superman movies but I looked him up after watching this series and saw he ended up in a wheelchair it literally hurt to see after watching yall tall about him

Why are you ignoring or forgetting Supergirl from 1984? It's part of this universe. It featured Marc McClure reprising his role as Jimmy Olsen.

I was 13 when it was released in the Uk. Managed to persuade an American girl neighbour friend to come watch it with me. I was so nervous. Barely noticed how bad the film was. She obviously did though. We didn’t go out again 🤣

It’s probably another example of crucial deleted scenes Golan-Globus left out of the scene because they thought exhibition was “too boring” and the audiences of the world would literally walk out of their seats if characters talked too long without any action happening.

I’m really glad Jon Cryer sort of got a second chance at being a villain in a DC property because he is so good as Lex in the Arrowverse
