I don’t think people realise that when he says It makes him feel sick, that isn’t an insult to her diet it’s making him feel sick because he physically doesn’t like food at all and the taste of it makes him gag and feel sick.
@goldra84094 жыл бұрын
It's also that your body just isn't used to taking in that much food. If you're eating at a certain level of calories, and you try to go above it, your body isn't going to want to push itself like that, even if the rational part of your brain knows you're feeding yourself as you should be. Another part of it could be that he's not used to taking in certain food groups, and so they make him physically ill--this is the reason people who drink soda constantly will say that water tastes bad, then say they love the taste of water once they get off of soda. It's always funny to me in a fucked up sort of way that people end up judging the underweight people for acting like assholes. They very clearly have disordered eating patterns, and treating your body like that over a long period of time is going to mess with your emotions, for a number of reasons. I can forgive them for acting like that, same as I can forgive someone for acting out if they missed lunch.

Exactly! I really don't belive they should've been allowed to participate because 'I don't have time' is a poor excuse especially when they're a parent and cooking for their children, or they don't work. Edit 2024: Haven’t visited this comment in a few years and honestly it makes me incredibly sad that I’m not alone in this. I wish no one ever had to deal with this because it’s debilitating on not just your body, but your mental health and your day to day life. I thank those of you who left kind words and advice, and pray for those of who are also dealing with something similar that you find your solution. I have no updates as unfortunately I have been struggling with this since I was a child and even now at almost 30, but I still have hope that one day I can get past this and achieve good health, both in body and mind. I promise to not give up no matter how hard it’s been and will be, and if we’re in the same boat I hope you don’t either please 💖. @LCDqBqA5 жыл бұрын
@@Dave-good36 Junk food is not cheap. If you prepare the food from ingredients it's extremely cheap. At university I only ate £1 of food a day for a whole year. Versus paying £1.50 for a single cheese burger from Mcdonalds? These people get several hundred pounds a week in government handouts. The real money comes in when you become too fat to clean/look after yourself, the government throws money at you.
@Mameha45 жыл бұрын
@@LCDqBqA 1£ a day? Did you only eat plain rice, pasta and cereal (the cheap kind)? Because veggies and fruit do come a bit more expensive than that. I agree, cooking your food is much cheaper than take-out, but an apple of a decent size alone already costs like 45-50 cents. And one apple is not enough fruit/ veggie for a day. Half a kilo of pasta costs around 45 cents, so if you eat half that for lunch (I myself definitely eat more than 250g of pasta per sitting) you are already looking at around 70-75 cents which leaves you roughly 35 cents for the rest of the day (considering 1£ is around 1.13 €). Plus I know that in the UK stuff is more expensive in general than in Germany. I am skinny, but food worth 1.13€ would never have sufficed me for an entire day.

He almost 100% has afrids. Its an eating disorder where people avoid food out of fear of chocking or allergic reaction. They commonly hate chewing and food textures. @@E-eb6ic the thing is both (I.V nutrition) and a feeding tube have their limits. You have to press multiple types of food supplements during the day and monitor for dehydration as the easiest way (and indeed the only way) we've found that works to provide the correct nutritional amounts is by dissolving vitamins and minerals, and amino acids, and fats into an aqueous solution. Despite what most people think you still have to manage oral fluid intakes. Drinking with a nasogastric or stoma feeding tube (or cath) is so damn uncomfortable. Add to that the risk of infection and long term maintenance, what this guy needs is counseling,pediasure, and slow incremental food introduction. Finally, long term dependency on a liquid diet causes smooth muscle atrophy. Over time your bowels can weaken to the point you can't push out excreta or move food along the length of the bowel (important for water and nutritional uptake). It is why gastric bypass surgery is limited in many places. The risk of nutritional deficiencies (that leads to overeating) is too high, so some surgeons will use a less involved procedure that guarantees slower weight loss but an increase in overall patient health, so long as they manage their habits well.

@@E-eb6ic Eating a balanced diet is not that difficult. It's actually delicious and stimulating. It kind of blows my mind when they say these obese people "love food and enjoy eating" but mainly eat disgustingly greasy stuff. i think you're going a bit overboard there. most of them are just busy people without proper nutritional knowledge or fusy eaters. the minority who really had disordered eating (still, not eating disorders) were refered to further clinics/examination/therapy. if dr Christian thought they couldn't change on their own or made too small changes, he told them right away but most of them did well on the fixed diet and gained weight properly. :)

Hey guys... person with a severe egg allergy here. We literally have to personally check every label and personally prepare our food. I have sat in a restaurant on multiple occasions at a social gathering and not had anything to eat. On multiple other occasions I went out, wasn't gonna eat anything because I'm also ED on top of my allergy, got convinced to order something, ordered something that they checked all the labels, and STILL spent the next 3 days shitting my brains out and the next 3 weeks allergic to my own sweat because they cooked it on the same grill that they cooked eggs on that morning. There are other people with allergies who do this who don't have eating disorders. If somebody's at a restaurant not eating, it's not always an eating disorder, sometimes it's a severe allergy. I have never done that because of my ED because I just wasn't allowed. I HAVE been doing that in recent years because of my allergy. When you have a severe allergy you truly literally cannot trust ANYBODY to make your food except yourself.

As somebody with a severe egg allergy I feel for that. I literally need to check every label. If I'm at a restaurant that serves eggs because of a social call, I definitely sit there with tea or coffee. I'm not risking spending 2-3 weeks allergic to my own sweat, 3 days shitting my brains out, and/or an anaphylactic trip to the hospital just because your version of a social gathering is at a restaurant. That's not a fair expectation. And you can't just determine that somebody has an eating disorder just because they're sitting at a restaurant with no food. At least they're making an effort to spend time with the other people and also at least they're a cheap date
@mars_mallow_4 жыл бұрын
i’m just saying that they can’t complain that they don’t have *time* to eat if they are AT a restaurant and they don’t order anything or even check the menu
@andyengle22384 жыл бұрын
@@mars_mallow_ if they don't have a food allergy, then you're absolutely right. But people with severe food allergies can't eat at restaurants without getting sick, we literally have to prepare everything ourselves or buy only from trusted companies that we have already emailed about our allergy AND HEARD BACK FROM. So, if we're sitting in a restaurant spending all that time appeasing the accompanying loved one by going out, that's a whole lot of time we can't eat, because most restaurants are really rude about bringing in your own prepared food with your own silverware because of your allergy. It's just not socially acceptable to do so. But, you know, it's also not socially acceptable to just skip holiday dinner just because everybody else wants to go out to eat. So then we have to sit there and watch you guy eat but not be able to eat ourselves, and then try and shovel in dishless food because we don't actually have the time or energy to do the dishes anymore after all this sitting and watching everybody eat. Then it's bedtime cause you leave for work in 10 hours and you wanna get up early for a workout and some cleaning. But, you are right, so long as the person doesn't have a severe allergy.

Poor people actually have more difficulty with weight gain because high fat and unhealthy food is often a cheaper solution.

this is one of the best episodes i've ever seen. they were both very respectful, they both tried really hard and both got amazing results, i'm so happy for them!
