How to make Cheddar and Jalapeño Bread. Supersoft and delicious bread, so easy to make.
Here's what you'll need:
1 cup milk (250ml)
1 large egg
3 tbsp sugar (45g)
2 tsp instant yeast (6g)
3 and 1/4 cup all purpose flour or bread flour (400g)
1 tsp salt (5g)
1/4 cup powdered milk (30g)
3 tbsp melted butter (45ml) unsalted
1 cup sharp cheddar cheese (120g)
1/2 cup jalapeños (50g)
Eggwash:
1 egg and 1 tbsp milk
1. In a bowl, mix together milk, egg, sugar and yeast. Add flour, salt and powdered milk. Mix until dough forms.
2. Add melted butter and mix until fully absorbed. Knead, slap and fold until smooth or about 5 minutes.
3. Add cubed sharp cheddar cheese and jalapeños. Lift and fold to incorporate. Smooth into a ball and place in an oiled bowl. Cover for 40 to 60 minutes or until doubled in size.
4. Punch air out. Roll out and flatten dough. Roll tightly into a log. Pinch the edges to seal. Braid rolled dough and place in a greased 9x5 inches loaf dish. Cover for 25 minutes. Preheat oven for 15 minutes at 170C/340F.
5. Brush with eggwash and bake for 30 minutes or until light golden.
6. Brush with melted butter. Serve and enjoy!
