Hi Cleggy, I was so sorry to hear that your dear old dad had passed away. I remember my first and only try at brewing beer, what a disaster. I had 2 big glass jars I think they held a gallon each. I was very young at the time. Anyway there was 2 fairly big explosions under the sink. 😂🇮🇪🎄☘️🏊🤣

Hi Cleggy, You could also make wine, that's easy too, and there's of ingredients growing in hedgerows, eg. Elder flowers/berries, rosehips, and Sloes.

I used to make my own beer, wine, rice whisky and liqueurs during the 80s and 90s. I had so much equipment, including a fruit presser. I made kits and self-made recipes. I had a 5 gallon barrel of beer explode once due to excess pressure. 🤒 The best wine I ever made was a mix of white grape juice, crab apples and gooseberries. It was gorgeous, and I would challenge anybody to taste it and say it wasn't shop bought. I once made a gallon of Piña colada from a kit, and me and my brother-in-law drank it all one evening. We were very drunk, but the next morning we both agreed that we felt wonderful and had bags of energy. I used to buy used demijohns from vineyards who used them once and sold them off for 20p each. Both dark and clear ones. Happy days.
