I came close to seeing him live. Survivor had booked a show in London, their first ever show in the UK. Ironically they did some recordings from When Seconds Count in London back in 1986. But it was finally happening. Many of us AOR fans were seeing Survivor. Jimi then unfortunately passed away and then that gig was cancelled. It was devastating since Jimi was so dear to us and that we would never get to see him live. The show that never was. Still, the love for Survivor and Jimi will always remain.

I agree, and I think this song would have been HUGE'ER if not for the competing, Whitesnake song of the same title. When you say, "Is This Love" everyone immediately goes, "I love David coverdale".

I'd be honored if some fans of classic 80s rock anthems would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of EYE OF THE TIGER by Survivor, AGAINST ALL ODDS by Phil Collins, and IS THIS LOVE by Whitesnake on my YT channel in tribute to the era of legendary power ballads. Live acoustic with no autotune. Thanks & keep on rocking.

@TNR-lover5 жыл бұрын
There was a recession in the 80's and a lot of songs focused on how difficult it was for some people to afford basics. It was happier in some ways and people had better relationships and social lives, but worse in others. As Billy joel said "The good old days weren't always good and tomorrow's not as bad as it seems".

@rjl579 жыл бұрын
+emello81 You have a good point. But I mean today's music artists can barely be considered talented. If they aren't yelling (that's what rap is to me) about selling their hoes, killing a cop, or their baby momma, their generation has no voice.
@emello4you9 жыл бұрын
rjl57 It's all about the image rather than the voice itself. And the problem is most of today's youth strive on it and that's what keeps it going, Look at Bobby Kimball of Toto. Wasn't the greatest looking guy on the block but boy could he sing. And the same with Lou Gramm, Sting, Steve Perry all great voices and not all about looks.
@jason757 жыл бұрын
Todays music is garbage. Today its rap crap, or pop bull shit. Today its about, sex, evil, killing, gangbanging. Today its about, money, looks, and fame, with no talent.

This song is such a very special song to my heart and soul. I share this to my woman who makes me special inside due to my Cerebral Palsy. And I also miss Jimi Jamison so very much everyday, he's an inspiration to my heart throughout my life with his songs from both Survivor and his solo career. His voice speaks louder than words. He should be in the Music Hall of Fame. He is always will be my favorite singers. He is my motivator forever and ever... Love You Jimi here and forever and ever and ever!!!!

I started hearing this song one year ago, when i was in a middle of a big trouble. I almost fall in depression, but this song was always there to tell me that there is always a kind of love in bad things or situations. Nowadays, one year after, I hear this and with tears in my eyes. I wish you the person who reads this to be safe in your life.

The 80's will always be the decade of music I will take to my grave. I graduated high school in 1980 went out on my own and discovered MTV. 80'S rock bands filled my soul and helped lead me down the road to my retirement 40 years later. I worked for the same company for the last 30 years that allowed us to have MP3 players to help each day go by better. I will always be grateful to my boss who has now passed away. When I see him on the other side I will remind him of how much his generosity of music helped me throughout all those years of welding in the Texas heat. How much it helped me to take my mind off those 90-110 degree weather days ❤️.
