Lyrics:
I've heard talk of blind devotion
Lovers through thick and thin
Lives touched with real emotion
Faithful till the bitter end
Now I must admit that the story's attractive
I've lost in far too many affairs
I've seen all the pain that the morning can bring
I need to prove to myself
This is more than a crush
Can you convince me
It's not just a physical rush
Is this love that I'm feelin'
Is this love that's been keepin' me up all night
Is this love that I'm feelin'
Is this love

I came close to seeing him live. Survivor had booked a show in London, their first ever show in the UK. Ironically they did some recordings from When Seconds Count in London back in 1986. But it was finally happening. Many of us AOR fans were seeing Survivor. Jimi then unfortunately passed away and then that gig was cancelled. It was devastating since Jimi was so dear to us and that we would never get to see him live. The show that never was. Still, the love for Survivor and Jimi will always remain.

@@zephyros0946 sorry but you had to be there in the 1980s to completely understand where he is coming from. It's not there ain't a few good singers now, it's the way the music sounds and produced. Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple/Rainbow): "I had seen Jimi in Survivor and was very impressed. I remember going down to Tennessee to meet him and I really liked him as a person. He then came up to try out with Deep Purple. We did one song, I think it was 'Going Down' and he was so good I immediately stopped playing and just said, 'You're in!' He said, 'Don't you want to do more songs?' I said, 'No, you are so damn good, I know that you are perfect for the job.' We went out and celebrated at a restaurant. I was full of ideas due to his melodic, soulful voice, and he could improvise much better than a lot of singers I knew so he had every aspect I was looking for in a singer. Very, very nice guy. Very humble. Unfortunately, two weeks later, we were told he couldn't join the band. We never found out why. I think it had something to do with the management. I was surprised and saddened by what happened, and it was a mystery to me what had gone down. It was a bad moment for me. I rated him as one of the top singers in the country."

Jimi is great but I can't really imagine him singing for Deep Purple even though he was more than competent. Then again, Ritchie Blackmore is a virtuoso level musician who knows the laws and theory of music like the back of his hand so it's very difficult to argue with his judgement of when he stumbled upon great musical talent.

Nowadays, one year after, I hear this and with tears in my eyes. I wish you the person who reads this to be safe in your life.

The 80's will always be the decade of music I will take to my grave. I graduated high school in 1980 went out on my own and discovered MTV. 80'S rock bands filled my soul and helped lead me down the road to my retirement 40 years later. I worked for the same company for the last 30 years that allowed us to have MP3 players to help each day go by better. I will always be grateful to my boss who has now passed away. When I see him on the other side I will remind him of how much his generosity of music helped me throughout all those years of welding in the Texas heat. How much it helped me to take my mind off those 90-110 degree weather days ❤️.

There was a recession in the 80's and a lot of songs focused on how difficult it was for some people to afford basics.
