Between a quarter and third of all witches executed during the Early Modern witch hunts were men. I doubt they even skim a wiki. I'm a casual fan of comics at best, but I KNOW that I still have more comic knowledge than most of Marvels writers. I bet what they do is they take the character they're writing for and do a Google search for villains with similar power sets and stop looking as soon as they see one that they figure they can use as a vehicle for their political propaganda. Seriously, some of the only times a non-team MCU movie had a villain who wasn't just an evil version of the main character were the Thor movies and Iron Man 3. I would also say Captain Marvel, but I have no idea who the villain of that movie was (besides the patriarchy) because I didn't watch it, and never will.

Its a callback to when she visited SWORD and they threatened her without any provocation, and they were abusing Vision's corpse. Fact is, SWORD caused this mess by refusing to allow Vision to have a funeral and burial, and the Avengers caused it by not leaving Vision in Wakanda, where his body would have been kept safe. To free the town, she would have to kill Vision and her children. Wanda behaved as most people would; eventually doing the right thing, but hesitating Fact is, Wanda did not know she was using magic, had little idea of what she was doing, a fact that, if we look up the comics, can be blamed on Agamotto, who destroyed all knowledge of chaos magic and told sorcerers to tell themselves a lie that it did not exist. The total failure of the Kamar Taj sorcerers to help Wanda much earlier is something they will have to explain. The sad thing is this looked like it could have been somewhat decent if they didn't screw it all up at the last minute. It would be really interesting if they would have just ran with the "a person, unable to handle mourning a horrible loss, turns to evil" plot line and ended it with her being an anti hero, with where she stands as an individual being unresolved. It would have been so much more fun and lucrative for them then to explore the Scarlet Witch's redemption arc in a subsequent series and they could have made more money with the character because people like their villains to be complex and it can be pretty entertaining to see a compelling redemption arc done right. What did Wanda learn from the atrocities she committed? Can she apply what she learned to stand up to an even greater villain, exploiting that villain's weakness because she knows all too well that weakness in herself? But instead of going with deep they went with woke and spent any capital they might have gained in the initial run up to bolster their M-She-U bullshit. Oh well. Their loss.

I always wondered why they didn’t build the relationship between Hawkeye and Wanda. There was a good setup between the movies that was started and just got left hanging. Hawkeye gave her the speech in Ultron to get her fighting, then Quicksilver sacrificed himself to save him in the end and he named his son after him and Natasha. He was the one that convinced her to side with them in Civil War. There could have been a really good friendship/older brother relationship that would have made more sense than what they did. Just my opinion.
