@@khaler21 Whoa easy there! Let me state a few things here. Firstly, like I said, it's an unwritten rule and like I also said, you try to avoid it IF POSSIBLE. Secondly it's not my fault that there are countries which are so overpopulated that the trains are operating over their capacity. Third is that I really do hope that the trains in said countries operate on diesel because riding on top of a train which is powered by an overhead line is quite dangerous. And finally let me mention the fact, that I don't give a monkey's toss about trains, because I prefer using my car, I just mentioned the way it is over here: If the trains are empty enough, there's no point in taking a seat right next to someone else. If a train should become more busy over time, hardly anyone objects to someone sitting right next to them. Cheers!

Worth noting that a big difference is that while Finland has decently sized areas (mainly in coastal regions) where Swedish is the majority language, Sweden basically doesn't have any areas where Finnish is the majority language (the Torney Valley used to be majority Finnish speaking but hasn't been for quite a while now). So while Sweden has a big Finnish minority there isn't really a big separate identity in the same way the Swedish speaking areas of Finland have.

They are WRONG about the "Allemansrätten" (Right of Public Access). You HAVE access to be on private land! That's the point! This is how it works; "'the public has access to private land where no damage is likely to result and prohibition would be unreasonable"'. You can camp anywhere you want....in Sweden for one or two nights. (Not caravans dough....that's not real camping anyway) ;-) You can pick berries in the woods, climbing or hiking, fishing is free with rods along the coast and in the five largest lakes, you have to buy a "fishing-card" in many smaller lakes but that doesn't cost much. The nature is available for everybody. With a few EXCEPTIONS like peoples GARDENS, MILITARY AREAS and SUCHLIKE, and with these "right to roam" come responsibilities; that is, an OBLIGATION neither to harm, disturb, litter, nor to damage wildlife or crops. I’d highly recommend a trip to the US specifically Minnesota. It’s fascinating how influenced they are by Swedish culture and food. I’d imagine it for someone born in Sweden to be similar to visiting a “Chinatown” area in a lot of US cities. Not China, but you can see the roots and get a sampling of the culture especially with county and state fairs, festivals, food, and art. There are quite a few pockets of the US heavily influenced by immigration. Where I’m from in the Midwest it’s German and Czech. A lot of folks look at the US as one big thing but if you dig a little deeper you quickly realize just how different each state is in many ways and much influence there is.

Dear Michael, as an American, I would like to tell you that you do NOT have the right to complain about healthcare in Sweden. I live in Central Ohio, which is one of the most affordable places to live in in the US that's not underdeveloped and pay close to $4600/year in health insurance. Yet if I take an ambulance in an emergency, my copay is $1400 for the ride and that's cheap! I'm not going to say how much the copay for treatment or surgery is. 🤮 You won't believe it!
@coyotelong43492 жыл бұрын
Exactly. As a fellow American (Arizonan) I wholeheartedly agree. Residents of countries with universal healthcare might not love everything about it as citizens of that country. I get it. But for me this sort of misses the point. it’s not about whether universal healthcare is perfect. Nobody expects it to be… Rather, it provides peace of mind. With universal healthcare, if you need to be rushed to a hospital in an ambulance, you have the peace of mind of knowing that you will not have a bill to settle after you leave, wondering if your employer-issued health insurance will cover enough for you to afford paying the rest. People covered by universal healthcare don’t fully comprehend what the alternative is. I would rather people have a baseline of healthcare that’s not perfect than avoid checkups and medical attention because they have inadequate coverage and literally can’t afford to get sick or injured… Which is 100% a thing in the US You can’t put a price on peace of mind, which is what universal healthcare offers.

The fact that something is even worse in another country doesn't void ones right to complain about the situation in ones own country though. That said, from what I've heard about the healthcare in the US, I'd look into every possibility for moving to another country, even if that'd probably prove very painful, leaving friends and relatives behind. But I'd not be willing to forfeit my own well being on behalf of an incompetent government.

Allemansrätten: Never within sight of a house, never on farmed land. You are however allowed to pick mushrooms and berries in a private forrest or field. Always taking care not to destroy crop or spook livestock. You can also, and this is cool, stay one night on private land as long as you move on the next day. You should also leave the place as you found it. We biked around Öland, the farmer came out and warned us that the cattle was a bit unruly in the paddock that we had chosen. He suggested that we camp in the birthing paddock within the main paddock, That was great until it rained and my friend woke up in a puddle in the tent. We dried out in the shed. Should have tented in the shed from the beginning though. PS. It's tricky to find a place to camp that isn't a paddock on Öland. Unless you want to pay. Allemansrätten doesn't apply in cities...

Skane, the Texas (or Bavaria) of Sweden. Things in common: can't speak properly, are to rich for their own good, love to wear weird leather objects, despised by veryone else in their country. ;)

"we used to force Finland to teach Swedish in school" don't worry, you still do, it is still mandatory language in Finland :D

Sorry Finland, I think you have to take that up with your own authoroties.. We certainly don't force you to do anything :) We respect your people, independence and sovereignty!

@@carlkolthoff5402 yeah its more just because they think it would drive Finland closer to Scandinavian countries or something when we could understand what they say or something like that :D

@@ristusnotta1653 can only speak for myself, but I've always seen Finland the same way as I see Denmark and Norway. You're our Nordic brothers and we share our history since forever. Sure, we all have our specific cultural traits, but overall I believe we have more similarities than differences. And there were a lot of kids in my school with finnish names when I grew up, so Finland never felt far away to me. Having you guys close to Scandinavia is only natural!

Dear Swedes, if you go to Italy, don't ask for Fika (derogatory word for women's anatomy, or can be directed at a woman implying questionable moral character.)

It's pretty funny hearing you say "Only tourits want to go to Stockholm", because you said in another video "I've been to Ireland. I went to Dublin!" and I was like "BOOO! THAT'S NOT IRELAND!" lol.

People claim that Swedish is easy to learn but they are very arrogant. Sure you can read and write in Swedish but speaking it is a whole other thing. I do not count a language as learnt until you can clearly understand what people are saying. Non Swedish people speaking swedish is instantly noticable and very often hard to understand so i cant really give them the credit of learned the language if i have to constantly say "Excuse me can you say that again".
