Absolutely phenomenal. As others have said , Brian was so animated and passionate here . Brian possessed all the necessary attributes, the looks , the voice , the stage presence ,which made him one of the best , if not THE best front man of the 70s. IMO however , his mental health was never going to be able to sustain the associated lifestyle, I mean how do you get over abandonment as a baby , then grow up and find out at age 18 , that the family you thought were your own were not,-and you were actually adopted . The assault on him must have been the final straw and he unsurprisingly turned to drink . He maintained in an interview that he didn’t drink heavily prior to this . So sad . Thanks You Tube for all the Sweet uploads and we can relive their heyday - the fabulous 70s .

Brian condemned himself and the band for his alcoholism. Nothing was the same without him, but it was his fault, no doubt.

@@latyk3925 Alcoholism is a disease, not a choice and the only fault lies in the fact that still today it's the most lethal legalised drug around so go blame any governements lack of ACTION, the reason why they don't take action is obvious and that's what Brian sang: 'everybody wants a piece of the action'... dig it?
@latyk39254 жыл бұрын
@@phillarsson8253 Oh, I don't want to turn it into a political and social discussion about alcoholism, my comment was only in relation to the fact that it was not a mistake of the band to get rid of Brian, but that his illness made him incompatible to continue leading.
@phillarsson82534 жыл бұрын
@@latyk3925 no worries ;-) just wanted to get straight that Brian did not choose to be an alcoholic. In fact, there was this guy that reacted on another video and told this story about he took Brian out after a show in America and how Brian trusted him that he didn't like all this touring and rather have been home with his wife and kids... Brian was a sweet, gentle guy.
@atlasking61104 жыл бұрын
well, they didn't have a choice but to let him go, sadly. once Brian's illness got the best of him, he was a shadow of himself and he knew it better than anyone, which is the really tragic part.

So true. Many say his voice never was the same after the kick in the throat he had, and that's true: it wasn't the same... to me it sounds like his voice went more raw and more powerful after that incident. Maybe he couldn't get to those high notes as in 'teenage rampage anymore, but he still got the best out of it.

They made so many recordings & out of all of them there's only one song I didn't like. That's excellent in my book. Wish the band could have been inducted into the Music hall of Fame before Steve Priest passed just a few months ago June 4, 2020, he was 72 and still performing with his own Sweet band.
