Thank you so much for the mention. I agree with you on the Boker production. When I compare knives to discern a maker, I find pin placement a very accurate indicator. Especially by model. If you look at those knives, you'll notice the pins in exactly the same spot. Imitators will get the pattern right but use their pin placement. Hope that makes sense for you 😊. Thanks again for the mention 👍 😊

Good point. These vary a little in that the Zwilling is all pinned whilst the Bökers are part riveted, but you are quite correct about the pin positions being identical. Credit where credit’s due!

On AAPK, nearly every Henckels pocket knife for sale is listed as made by Boker. Love, love the Boker Copperhead

I'm always fascinated by how knife nuts try to figure out who made what? The thing is some companies outsource to multiple companies. An interesting factoid was Klein Tools. People would argue over if the electrician knives were made by Imperial, Camillus, Utica or someone other company. Turned out the answer was yes! Other times the answer was sort of yes. At one time Klein was actually receiving blades or other parts from Imperial, Utica, Camillus, and their own factory in Japan, simultaneously, and then assembling the knives in their Chicago Factory. LOL. At the end of the day, the name on the tang stamp assumes responsibility for the quality of the knife (or the lack there of)! But we knife nuts still want to know. Nice bit of detective work. Eric! Thanks!

I’m certainly interested in the historical context. JA Henkel is one of, if not the oldest makers of pocketknives in Germany, but they have actually stopped making them and outsource all aspects, including the design. Does it really matter? No, so long as they use a great manufacturer, such as Böker, and they are still made in Solingen, they can still be judged by the quality of the knife they sell.

Apologies if I missed it, but why couldn't Zwilling have made the Bokers?
@slick_slicers9 ай бұрын
Firstly because they had stopped making pocketknives by the time these were made and secondly because Böker still make them.

Hopefully you will have seen my reply to your other comment, but in short, no I don’t, but I’m sure that you could commission such a thing, but it would be much more expensive than a comparable SAK.
