I'm a guy and I was abused by my fiance....ended things ten years ago, and I had to call the cops on her. She was like 5 feet tall and tiny and skinny. She used to tell people that I was the one being abusive and I lost so many friends over her because people didn't believe it was the other way around. She terrifies me to this day. Most of my life I was bullied in school and also abused by my family and didn't really have self esteem ever in my life. I'm now happily married to a wonderful woman who makes me feel so safe.

Some people don't understand that it's about more than a size differential, and the physically larger person isn't automatically the primary aggressor, as they can just as easily be the one with the non-abusive personality. Being petite doesn't mean you can't also be a toxic piece of sh!t.

One of my brothers kids mom was exactly like that and me and my partner were there one of the times as witnesses when she up and attacked him just for not going to bed when she wanted him to and the state poopers told us they wouldn’t take our statement and that women in the relationship are always the victim for any DV call, crazy. We went and filed a separate report and nothing came of it. She called her sister after the attack and told her that he attacked her, showed her self inflicted marks (which he didn’t even touch her just took it) and she called the cops which she knew her sis would. I even told her sister who was also my friend and in the same grade as me that she attacks him and she said “you’re just sticking up for your brother!” I was so mad.

Thank you for covering a male victim / female abuser. So many people claim to be progressive but push the misogynistic idea that women are always dainty and and can never be mean, strong, agressive, and/or violent. As a masc. person who has been abused by women, your commentary is SO validating. “Abuse doesn’t care about gender rolls!!!!”

As a woman and someone who works in the social services field, I find that a lot of men who are being abused in any sense of the word do not like to report it because society has made it out to be such an embarrassing thing to happen to you as a man. They try to make it out as if the guy is the problem and he's being emasculated, but in reality, that woman who is the abuser is just a piece of shit who needs to be locked up and have the key to her cell thrown away. I am so heartbroken for the amount of males who do not come forward and end up in Christian's situation, and then the law does not take the case seriously because, oh, she's a woman how could she do this to a big, strong man. No stuff happens on both ends, and it needs to be dealt with properly.

I couldn't agree more. I have a friend who for almost a year we were worried her sister was being abused. We each went over sometimes to check in, but there were police reports, and injuries. When we finally learned it was her hurting herself while trying to harm him ... The police didn't really believe she was the aggressor. My friend did give a statement and eventually they believed it enough to give her a mandatory order not to drink and the children were removed while she attended mandatory anger management courses... But he was told if he pressed charges he'd never end up with sole custody of the children because there were hospital visits of when she hurt herself that put him in suspicion. I don't live in the same city anymore, but I get very worried about his safety from time to time. 💔

Hearing that their "Friends" watched her hitting him and didn't do anything infuriates me. I had an abuser that would beat the hell out of me infront of our "Friends". No one EVER did anything or said anything. It made me think that for a long time, no one cared if I was getting hit or not. They just sat there and acted like they didn't see it. I agree with you on it being 1st degree. Though I think that the prosecutor likely went 2nd degree because it is much easier for them to prove beyond a reasonable doubt. I don't agree with it but we know the defense is going to push hard on him being a larger black man and her being a small white woman. And so that may have lead to prosecution decided on 2nd degree to avoid that "reasonable" doubt. But I agree with what you're saying wholeheartedly.

I dont think that's always true, people have very dysfunctional ways of communicating or processing emotion, and may be using gross body movements (gross as in big) as a way of expelling energy without having intention of hurting someone. Sometimes it might even be as a form of self harm/injury. I'm not saying that this sort of behaviour doesn't indicate violence or a wish to inflict violence towards a partner, but to say that anyone that punches a wall wants to punch people is a serious oversimplification of complex issues.

@@euanmitchell6879 It's threatening. Threats are a form of violence. Unless they're going to a neutral place and paying for the opportunity to smash unowned plates or destroy a junked car, where there's no one to sit there feeling terrified and hopeless while they lose their crap directly at their partner, it's absolutely not appropriate for them to react that way. By not adressing her behaviour, intervening they send the message that there is nothing to see. ofc it's more complicated than that but a victim who already is in a very vulnerable position is likely to perceive it that way strengthening that feeling of being alone, needing to deal with this themselves because who else will care?

I wish DV and emotional abuse against males by female perpetrators was talked about more. I’ve tried time and time again to explain to my Dad how my stepmother’s actions are abusive but he just can’t see it that way, even when she was physically violent to him, in front of me and my siblings when we were kids. Anyway, sorry for the trauma dump. Thanks for another great video Swoop, please keep us updated. Thank you as always for talking about sensitive topics with such care and consideration.

Men's mental health is so important. Men feeling like they can safety talk about their own abuse is important. It's so sad he stayed in this relationship. I can only imagine ppl wouldn't even take abuse claims seriously because of the size dynamic. Size, sex none of that matters to abusers. Men talk to your friends and family. It doesn't make you less of a man. You're important and your well being is just as important.

You are absolutely right to bring up the racial dynamics in this case as I truly believe they are part of the reason she was able to abuse him for so long (several times in public). So many people on this earth just cannot fathom a Black man as anything other than an aggressor. Certainly not victims themselves. Racism, both conscious and unconscious, absolutely played a part in this tragedy.

This is very racist. I dated couple black guys from Nigeria and my current boyfriend is from Congo. Never felt threathen by them. Quiet the opposite my boyfriend is sweet, gentle I never heard him yelled, he is a good uncle to his many nieces and newphes, the other guys werent also violent especialy my ex that I dated the longest and we only broke up due to long distance. He even called to check up on me because he know that I struggle with BPD and was hospitalized due to it in the past before we met. So it is very harmful stereotype to be honest. My white dad was more violent and lowkey abusive than any of my black boyfriends

She seemingly never learnt any consequences from her actions, a problem compounded by her money and looks! One thing she did seem to learn was how to be incredibly manipulative with her words (despite them being the opposite to her actions). This further compounded the issue of her never seeing consequences for her actions! And yeah there definitely seemed to be repeated examples of "Tell me your a Racist without telling me your a Racist" vibes! I think she had substance abuse issues that compounded an anger management problem that developed into more and more violence and aggression that never got 'checked'. I think this suggest that this final act was not likely premeditated but rather yet another progressive violent outburst! Its sad that things got this way because she never learnt that there are consequences to such behavior! Imagine finding that kind of Love and abusing it instead of treasuring it!

tbh the more I think about it, the more she seems like a sadist, and not the friendly BDSM, you get consent and listen to the sub kind of sadist. I’m reading some of y’all’s testimonies and my heart just breaks. My sister just recently got out of an abusive situation because my family went absolutely feral on him. I don’t know what would have happened to her or how long she would have stayed if we hadn’t stood up for and been there for her and spearheaded getting the restraining order. I can’t imagine watching someone go through that and do nothing, man or woman. There are people who will love you and support you, and if you don’t have them offline, there are so many amazing resources and support groups to help. Find your clan, get the support. In my opinion: She should be charged with 1st degree murder for her blatant history for disregarding his life, this is shown not only during attacks but also abusing him knowing he’s physical in a very vulnerable state where his body is already under so much stress. Head injuries are no joke and he could’ve easily had a concussion, lose consciousness and have internal bleeding. Yet she didn’t call 911 even when he was asking blatantly for help and naming his symptoms. If the roles were reversed this wouldn’t be a question. She didn’t care if he lived or died in any of the prior situations and I believe that’s proof enough for premeditation. Not telling 911 their apartment number is also 🚩🚩

As a male survivor of DV, this hit me hard. Even when you speak up and ask for help, society and people just can't accept it. The cycle of abuse is hard to describe unless you've experienced directly. The other thing worth noting: abusers look for people who fit a profile, those whose vulnerabilities make it easier for them to control.

I love your way of telling difficult and shocking stories without turning them into a freak show. I especially respect the way you condemn and expose people who have committed crimes or deeply hurtful actions towards others by using their power over fans/employees/partners etc, without making it about downgrading them as human beings, but holding them accountable for their actions. I couldn't leave my family with that devastation and I just knew where it was always going to end up. I knew if I stayed with him, my family would end up crying over a casket. Having these clear, fully drawn out videos, documentaries, showing the root psychology, the patterns... It helps. It saved my life. I know it saves other people's lives. So, I could never thank you more for what you do. I'm 32, but age means nothing when no one gives you the information and teaching that you need. Truly, from the depths of my soul, thank you. It's sad, really, that men are not believed when they say they are being abused. Or that they feel they have to explain it away. Especially big strong handsome men. It's like if someone said "how could he have been beaten up by that poor defenseless angel?" OMG come on!!! Anger doesn't see gender; doesn't see age; does t see color. He didn't have to lose his life. If he had been able to go to the police and make a statement that would have possibly saved him. Instead he felt he had to play the big burly guy who could take care of himself.
