As a swede this is the first time I've seen a place I've been in a show/film. My grandpa lives right across the bridge from Copenhagen so been there many times. When marcus was taking photos over the canal to the other side, I remember sitting there with my mom having a cold beer and a shrimp sandwhich like 10+ years ago. I love the vibe of this episode! I appreciate seeing an American in Scandinavia without making a bunch of jokes about how bad the food is or whatever, we are very good at baking. My grandpa and his grandpa was a baker in a small town in Sweden, my mom is a very good baker too and always makes me fat with her various pastries... Anyway just wanted to say this is my fav ep of the show by far, loved it. Also the Ikea comment by his roomate was on point.. Don't mix up Danish and Swedish things unless you want war lmao

@@Syntell it's quite popular in Scandinavia. Shrimp cake is also a thing, but a shrimp sandwich is usually just bread with shrimp and other toppings you eat during the summer. Good with a cold beer!

@@Quzga Shrimp (rejer) on rye bread (rugbrød) as an open-faced sandwich (smørrebrød) is eaten year round, often with sliced hard boiled egg or a fried fish filet. I live in Copenhagen and I eat some sort of open-faced sandwich nearly everyday.

The guy at the airport is Chester, Marcus's roommate and he supported his journey of trying recipes from the Noma guide to fermentation. In the book, Marcus learned about yeast bread, leading him to make the perfect donut Carmy threw on the floor. IDK if you remember but when Marcus needed inspiration Chester brought Marcus a bunch of paint sample swatches and Marcus gets distracted and overloads a breaker trying to run all his equipment at the same time to catch up on his bread. And they had to cook outside.

When his roommates told him names, they were Google translate lol like his word for airplane was "flying machine" Also in Scandinavia we all say AC/air condition the same way, but it's not common to have it. Also we measure with metric yup. But I bought a cup set since so many recipes online are American, easier than converting..

@Mikel-Claire if you haven't looked it up Schrodinger's cat, is a thought experiment to help explain quantum theory. Essentially if you put a cat in a box with poison and close the box, wait an hour, and ask everyone in the room if the cat is dead or alive. No one can answer with certainty. They may have assumptions but you don't know until you open the box and find out. I don't think it has anything to do with the episode. lol hopefully I saved you a Google.

Quenelles are pretty easy with a little bit of practice and a warm spoon. I think Luca was having a bit of fun with Marcus there, he could’ve easily just told him the trick. You just push spoon facing out through the cream, roll it over and under. Far easier than pulling towards you.
