I have been waiting my entire adult life to aquire a real doxa orange face diver cuz I started reading the cussler novels at age 24. I found out about the recent china homages by accident a week ago Im 50 now and just got the frog. It arrived yesterday. It hits the satisfaction button for me 100 percent without losing the extra 90 percent of cash needed for the real deal (the new doxas are assembled in Switzerland from parts made in china). If you're buying a fake, get whatever one suits you best. The real doxas have a slightly domed crystal. The seastern doesn't. The frog one does. Im not the sort of bloke to give a damn what others think of my choices. Have a great day.

I have the V2. It's a great watch. Very comfortable. The height of it is nice because it doesn't bunch up a long sleeve shirt. Yet it still has the appearance of a turtle design. Great value.

Glad to see they've listened and made all the changes that people suggested. I still think the seestern is the better of the two but I would be quite happy with this.

Hi Chris, I just noticed on watch dives that they got the tactical frog version three now in the synchrotron army pattern and the silver sunburst pattern and they lowered the price $10! Man that silver dial is beautiful, and they rearrange the logos diagonally like the Doxa

High quality review like always. I like your accent;) The V2 seems to be a great watch. Yes, I'm very curious to get the V2 Seestern in my hands. Until now I have the V1 TF and I like it very much with all the imperfection. It's one of my precisest running watches with -4 sec in 5 days. I shortly thought about purchasing a real Doxa, but that wouldn't do the job better, I presume. Now I'm waiting for a Seestern Searambler. Thanks for showing the V2 TF. Great Job!

@@seadweller44 Just got mine 2h ago. Beautiful watch but very big issues: 1. No date lume 2. the movement is running much to fast! Half a minute in 2h. Don‘t know of I can regulate that.

That is a real shame! I know on the V2 watches, you had the option of choosing lumed date wheel or non lumed. But that is way too fast. Far outside recommended tolerance for the NH35. I’d drop Seestern an email.

@@seadweller44 yes, I know about the lume option, but mine was offered with lume. I have to write this to seestern. I‘ve been so happy, because the shipping was only 12 days. Perhaps the movement is magnetized.

It is possible, but regardless of the cause, the movement is definitely not as it should be running that fast! Of course it could be something as simple as rough handling during shipping, it could’ve taken a knock, but you’ll never know for sure. Get in touch with Seestern, I’m sure they will help.

Good review bud. I have a v1 Seestern and v2 Frog on a rubber tropic so no comparison there but I have to say I prefer the Frog. Fits the wrist better, I prefer the bezel action and the handset. In fact the only thing I would say is much better on the Seestern is the crown action. Well that's my two cents. All the best.👍

I’m torn firmly in between the Frog and the Seestern. I agree with you, the frog is more comfortable and has a better mid case shape and size. But I like the overall look of the Seestern, I think they nailed the whole Doxa vibe!

I recently purchased two of the TF V2, blue and yellow dial. I gotta say both nice looking watches and very light and confortable on the wrist. Unfortunatley there are some quality control issues. The blue V2 crown sounded harsh and rough when screwed down. On the other hand the yellow V2 screwed down a lot smoother. The yellow V2, unscrewing the flat screws on the band was a nightmare and would not come out, had to use long nose pliers to pull them out. So each one is like a luck of the draw. Dont expect it to be perfect, each has its flaws. You get what u pay for. Overall a fun watch. I also ordered the seestern army waiting delivery.

I have the seestern V2 in silver and I am thinking in getting this one in orange. The case height and shape seems very good. The seestern V2 is 13,2mm thick.

I also think it has the slightly curved underside over the Seestern. The Seestern has a flat underside and therefore rides higher on the wrist.

The misalignment would stick in my craw every time I looked at it. I liked "Tactical Frog" on the dial. It was whimsical. When someone asks, telling them it's a "Tactical Frog" would be a guaranteed grin. Kinda like Mutant Ninja Turtles. I would like to see an embossed logo instead of the printed one. Heimdallr goes back and forth with their shark being printed or embossed and something as small as that really makes a difference. A printed logo just kinda looks flat and cheap. Smart companies make a fuss over their logo. Think about Mercedes emblems getting stolen to be worn as jewelry.

I know what you mean. I actually didn’t mind the Tactical Frog wording on the dial at all, but at the same time, I also thought it looked nice with it removed! I see your point though, a nice, well thought out logo, does have an impact on the brand.

I very much enjoyed the review. The watch has certainly been improved. But I still prefer the Seestern due to it's genuine beads of rice bracelet and being German the brand name actually making sense is another bonus for me! 😄

Hey Chris well I’m pretty surprised it’s been two months since I had my V2 in blue and at first on my time Grapher it was -10 secs slow per day now it’s within 0 to -2 secs per day. The movement must’ve settled or something. So pretty happy I won’t have to adjust it after all.

The new female end links is all well and good, but on my watch they sit very tightly, so they don't move around freely. They tend to "lock in", so the bracelet don't shape itself around my wrist. I have to manually adjust them. That makes the bracelet pretty useless actually, so I'm contemplating buying a replacement strap. Anyways... nice video, sir!

It is possible to fix this though. Depends which parts are too tight. You could try and remove the end link and lightly file/sand back the female surfaces. Or perhaps using slightly smaller spring bars? Seems a shame to ditch the whole bracelet. Although it is pretty annoying to experience this with a new watch.

Do the link screws work their way loose? Or is there some kind of a click when they’re in and they stay put? I kind of prefer the pin and collar because you never have to worry about them coming loose so what about these?

I know exactly what you mean. In all honesty, I haven’t owned it long enough to comment, as it can take a while for bracelet screws to work loose if they are going to at all! But if it really bothers you, there is always the option of using a drop of blue loctite thread locker or something similar. It can add some piece of mind.👍🏻

@@seadweller44 yup. I guess this is one area where I prefer the Seestern V2. I think it just uses regular pins and no collors. But I do like how the tactical frogs lug to lug wingspan is a little shorter and it’s 50 bucks cheaper on Canadian Amazon at $200 so that’s pretty impressive

Hey I might have to buy a screwdriver to adjust my links when this watch comes in a couple days can you tell many how many millimetres the flat head is for the screw pins?

Of course, no problem. Any of the cheap watchmaker screwdriver sets from EBay or Amazon would do fine for bracelet screws, or if you wanted a single driver, a 1.5mm flat head is what you want.👍🏻😄

The problem with the bezel is that it is completely non-functional and even dangerous, as the feet and time markings need to remain aligned, in that they need to rotate together on a fully rotating bezel. Otherwise the correct diving decompression time will be totally incorrect as soon as the bezel is rotated. All they had to do to avoid this was make the full bezel rotate. So really it's much worse than the first bezel - a total fail. I enjoyed the review - just can't believe Tactical Frog got this so wrong after the last attempt.

That’s actually a very good point, and one I hadn’t thought of! Yes I agree, I would’ve much preferred the whole bezel to rotate together, but hadn’t considered the actual dive use implications. Great spot!👍🏻

@@seadweller44 The general quality of Chinese watches is getting better and better but occasionally some of the brands drop a real clanger. Actually most reviewers of the V2 watch have missed the new bezel error... as it's basically very easy to miss. But it's not up to the reviewers to spot. It's up to the manufacturer to get it right, especially when the V2 was made to correct the first bezel error. Apart from that, the watch actually looks really good lol.

Very true, and totally agree about the quality of Chinese watches improving all the time. I think it is fast turning into one of the most competitive budget corners of the watch market at the moment. They are creating a whole niche micro brand market, which is becoming so successful because it is so relatively inexpensive and easy to access for most normal watch enthusiasts. But you are right, it is a pretty big oversight, especially considering this is the V2.

Absolutely correct. I have not seen one reviewer pick up on this product defect which potentially is a serious safety issue. Can't sue the manufacturer or seller in China but could there be a legal claim against a watch reviewer if someone gets injured using this bezel for diving after watching the review?

Yes, I did go for the FedEx delivery option. It is a little extra for it, but well worth it I think, especially at this time of year!👍🏻😊

I’ve done both options and tbh, it just depends. Yes, the FedEx option is going to reach you quicker but with a higher chance of customs charges, while the standard shipping option is usually free but with varying shipping times and just pot luck as to customs charges.

So I’m assuming when you have to pay customs or the tax You can do it right upon delivery with your debit card or Apple Pay? At least that’s my understanding I have this thought that they would hold it in some dark warehouse until you went down some place and actually paid it in person or something. Also installed that shop app that they recommend so you can track it so far no movement but it’s only been less than 24 hours

Yes I did see that on the website, but I assumed it was just renders and that all would be consistent for the V2. Seems odd that only certain colours have the removed text from the dial.

Applied indices are an upgrade to the real DOXA but a quality beads of rice bracelet is absolutely essential. Proxima is getting in the game with both the quality BoR and applied indices.

Chris, you are at least the third watch reviewer who has missed the serious safety issue with this watch. Let's move the bezel so that 155 feet aligns with 55 minutes indicating there is no need for decompression. What would happen? If I were you I would do another video to point this out or remove the video altogether to protect yourself from any possible liability.

I think there are multiple issues here, especially when considering the law or indeed liability. In the video I discussed the addition of a lume pip to enable the bezel to be used for timing something. In fact I don’t think I mention the use of the decompression scale ( in relation to diving usage) at all. I am not a diver, which is why I haven’t gone into any detail explaining the use of the scale. And of course, not being a diver, why I missed the issue as well. I fail to see how any liability could be accredited to any reviewer, as a potentially dangerous activity such as diving should be preceded by some kind of accredited professional tuition first. Also, I was under the impression that all divers use some kind of digital dive computer and may use a wristwatch as a back up at best. But not being a diver myself, could be wrong. I appreciate your comments, but do not think I have any liability. Perhaps I will include a section on this issue in another video featuring this watch in the future though, as it is an interesting point, which as you say, most reviews have not picked up on.

Is there a duty of care for a watch reviewer to give a warning especially if they are running a business? I would not take any risk even if it is small. Two questions would be asked. Is there a duty of care and was it foreseeable that an accident could happen?

Interesting points, but surely this logic could be applied to anything in that case? For example, could a professional lumberjack be liable if a video shows them cutting down a tree. Then someone watching the video injures themselves trying to cut down and tree and wants to sue, citing the fact that the lumberjack failed to state the obvious such as chainsaws can be dangerous, tree felling is dangerous without correct training etc etc. I think it’s a bit of a stretch? That said though, I do take on board your point that the bezel issue could possibly (albeit very unlikely) be a danger. I will email the company that sell these watches (where I purchased). Although I don’t think they actually make them, hopefully they can contact the manufacturer of Tactical Frog and make them aware.

Ok, understood. But I fail to see how this is in any way my responsibility? And I don’t think this is an obvious defect at all, like you said, nobody who has reviewed this watch has picked up on it - because they are not professional divers. Any reviewer, including myself, are not responsible for the design, manufacture or distribution of this watch in any way. Added to that, I didn’t even cover anything about the decompression scale on the bezel in the video (what it does, how it should used etc), so again, I fail to see any liability on my part whatsoever. And I am not a business, I make no money at all from KZbin. This is simply a hobby. I agree it is an important issue from a public information viewpoint, and I will include this in an upcoming comparison video I have planned. And I have informed the company I bought the watch from, in the hope that they can pass this on to the actual manufacturer of the watch.
