The plaintiff brings her cousin to court. She says she took in the defendant when she had nowhere to go, but now the defendant isn’t paying up. She’s suing for rent and phone bills. The defendant argues she already paid in full.

This plaintiff IS a bit annoying so I can see why he got fed up. However, he got mad because she first said rent $ 200. She then said $300. I'm sure she was not a person used to dealing with court matter of any kind, let alone ones decided upon in 5 minutes of rushed testimony. His not recognizing that she had established a pattern with the defendant of paying $300 and that she was crediting $100 for the food stamps is unfair. This leads to immediate dismissal in his mind of the credibility of a person who is obviously nervous and trying in her, albeit clumsy, approach to presenting her position, is not very fair of him....Patience is a virtue and he does not have much many times.
