I just finished Tales of Arise the other day! It was my first Tales game and honestly I purchased it on a whim but I absolutely adored it. The characters, the music, the environments…all of it was incredible from start to finish. I hope you get hours and hours of enjoyment out of it just as I did! Yes there was also a 'Hootle edition' with a plushie Hootle. I agree with your opinion. I personally felt amazed by the game right up until the third act at which point I lost enthusiasm for it. It did get repetitive, and I feel the characters were a little undercooked.

My friend recommended this to me and I was obsessed with it like 3 minutes in. Law is one of my all-time favorites along with Dohalim and Kisara (her voice acting blew me away). Yes, we have had an unprecedented flood of new and remastered JRPGs recently, it really is hard to keep up. I got completely engrossed in Arise, too, and wanted nothing more than to power through without stopping. But then, 4 months ago, illness struck and ofc I had to severely scale back my overall screen time. Which means Arise, together with XC3 and many other important games, is waiting, while I sit in frustration.

@@Food4Dogs so true, the timing has been terrible. We’re drowning in a sea of releases right now VS other months when there’s nothing to play. I buy the new games and put them in the “for later” pile, but that day never comes. I feel you on Arise and XC3, I’m taking a break from them. Currently, I play during the night after work (which involves staring at a screen all day, so I’ll get migraines if I overdo it on the gaming screen time, so I 100% understand what you’re going through) and my poor brain is usually too tired for story-driven games, so I’ve been taking it easy with Pokémon. Health always comes first, I wish you a speedy recovery! If the doctor is allowing you some screen time per day, perhaps you could try to pick up a more casual game that isn’t as time-consuming, or play whatever strikes your fancy with hourly breaks in-between. Have you considered a non-digital side-hobby in the meantime? Granted, it’s not the same, but it’s better than nothing.

@@yeollierancher I'm a highly visual person, so it's hard for me to pick anything that doesn't involve the eyes! Please be sure to look after your own eyes too - migraine is no picnic, from what I hear. And my experience shows that the older you get and the longer you inflict long screen exposure on your eyesight, the more susceptible it gets to problems. I do play some 'lighter' games, in short sessions. I find that visually less demanding games work better - I've been playing and enjoying the Last Campfire, that worked really well.

Here in the US we have GameStop and there is one shop with the most amazing Mgr Jeff whom also goes the extra mile for his customers. I was in GameStop on Monday and saw Tales of Arise but only had it for Xbox. Definitely will get it in the future. I am still playing Tales of Vesperia on the Switch which I love. I'm super happy that you managed to get the collector's edition of Tales of Arise and that it's in good condition. The staff at your local EB Games are awesome. I got the NA region one, so seeing how the packaging looks for the Oceania region was interesting. I haven't looked at the artbook yet (I'm saving that for after I finish playing, so I only listened to you during that part), but hearing you talk about the art makes me want to play the game as soon as I have the time to. About the popularity vote: Yes, at the Tales of Festival 2021, Dohalim took the top spot in the Official Tales of Series Character Popularity Ranking Poll. Mikleo from Zestiria was second (he got dethroned by Dohalim) and Alphen was third.

Ah yes ... I remember now about the popularity poll. I was surprised and happy about Mikleo! Caroline, is there any difference in the NA CE (items, presentation) compared with mine?

Items that are different: The design on the outer box is different. It's a picture of the main characters with their backs turned towards us while glancing over their shoulders. The orientation of the box for the NA version is horizontal and the way it opens is different too. Instead of it being opened like a lid that slides off, the outer box is more or less a single piece and the opening is kind of tucked into the box. A picture would really help in explaining this. Inside the box, the items were arranged in the same order with the cardboard dividers. The boxart of the game is also different with Alphen and Shionne on the front in their 3D models. The boxart is reversible though with the reverse side having the same art as the one on the Oceania, European, and Japanese versions. The box for the figure is different too, featuring only pictures of the figure itself without any of the official art. Items I did not get: I did not get any pins (I believe they were pre-order bonuses for Europe and Japan with one pin being the Arise logo and the other being for the Tales Series logo for the 25th anniversary). I also did not get any DLC with the game. Items that are the same: The steelbook with the soundtrack as well as the artbook. There may be some things I missed, but I think that's it.

I adored this game! I cried happy tears numerous times haha I completely fell in love with Alphen and Shionne and their growing relationship, along with the entire party. My fiance and I intend on cosplaying Alphen and Shionne one day ^^ I was only able to grab the game, and I found a copy of the art book. I wonder if you enjoyed Sword Art Online as much as I did (one of my favorite animes, top two) and have gotten the DLC for Arise for SAO. I didn’t realize there were 17 Tales games already. That’s amazing! Edit: You mentioned another SAO. I like Ordinance Scale a bit better, partially because I haven’t watch any other movies due to only Japanese, unfortunately. I would suppose watching any SAO would mean a resounding yes on liking it.

Yea, I've been playing SAO games ever since the first one came out for the Vita. 😀 I think for fans of the anime it's a great way to live for a bit in that world. Tales games are difficult to count bc some spin-offs or minor ones never made it out of Japan. Did you include Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology in your list?

@@Food4Dogs To be honest, I hadn't realized there were that many. You said 17, if I remember correctly, and I went with it. Haha. Graces f is the only one I have played so far (on PS3 only, no emulator yet), even though I've started collecting the others. At least the ones available on Steam.

@@Food4Dogs Update: I found an emulator for Tales of Graces f. I also have a few new games (not Arise yet) on Steam. I'm hoping to check a couple of them out (and eventually get Arise because of MOSTLY positive reviews). Thank you again for sharing this with us!

Tales of xilia was one of my fav. But his game is also on the top. And you can play it at the hardest difficulty with few retry. So satisfaying

i dropped tales of vesperia, but tales of arise looks very interesting, ive been looking forward to picking it up come a sale!
