Grappling athletes deserve to make good money. Both events are dope, but respect to the CJI for putting it on the line. Also Jordan on the big stage would be dope to see, one of my favourite grapplers to watch. Thanks for the video

My theory of why chimps are so much stronger: because humans are domesticated. If we were that strong it would be dangerous for large groups of us. You couldn't have cities. And the people who did build cities outcompeted the ones without.

A bear’s skin is similar to a cat’s in that it is stretchy, mobile, and durable in a way that makes it super difficult to cut. This is to survive being hit with claws when they fight and play. I say that to contrast it here: Gorillas, chimps, and human skin is not this way. We have ZERO protection from being slashed or punctured. Our organs are very exposed as well compared to bears. It’s a one shot kill bear vs human. Fighting and grappling skills don’t help because if you can reach the bear then the bear can kill you. Running doesn’t work because bears are fast as hell. The videos of people playing with and wrestling bears are doing it with trained or at least tame animals that are used to those people due to food and other circumstances. Can we grapple and fight with tame and calm bears that aren’t trying to kill? Yes. Can we do anything with a bear that is trying to kill? Absolutely not. That’s why we developed tools and weapons in our evolution.

Love the podcast, however super frustrating listening to a lot of people say that athletes should be getting paid more’, but then refusing to support them by paying to watch any events! If you are not willing to pay for flograppling, how are they supposed to pay anyone? I think CJI is awesome for the athletes.. but.. At CJI, athletes are not getting what they deserve, it is just charity from someone who is happy to most likely loose money on this. . Athletes don’t get paid because even professional jiu jitsu people like yourselves are not willing to pay to watch it. I understand flo is far from perfect and actually pretty bad sometimes..but it’s really not that expensive for what you get, and it’s a shame so few people support it. That being said, love the podcast and thanks so much for the content! 👍🏼

Glad you enjoy the podcast! Imo Mo screwed everyone over by going from fight pass to Flo. I'll gladly pay for fight with pass, but not Flo.

If you can’t explain a concept without using all these $20 words it demonstrates that you don’t fully understand it either. A great teacher needs to be able to explain complex concepts and ideas in a simple way anyone can understand, and if you can’t do that then imo the info is pretty worthless

I love what cji is doing for athletes but i think it is so unnecessary having it be the same dates as ADCC. Craig has successfully painted ADCC as the bad guys and has pissed off an organization that really hasn’t done anything but help Craigs career. They could certainly have much larger pay outs but they have done so much for the sport in the amount of exposure they have brought to it. I don’t think having his event at a different date would have any less of an impact and would arguably be more beneficial to the athletes to be able to compete at both events. I’m also not sure that CJI being free on youtube will give us accurate numbers on who is watching the sport, for this year at least i think the numbers will be inflated. Maybe CJI 3 will give a more accurate number

At the end of the day, exposure doesn't pay the bills, and the people who make ADCC what it is, are the athletes. Competition is good, having it on the same day is a bold move but it is intentional, as a way of protest. We can all appreciate what ADCC has done, but they don't have any excuse not to pay their athletes more. The notion that ADCC is "not profitable" seems very unlikely to me.

@@DRQ1996 i agree Craig is doing it by way of protest, not so sure about the other athletes. I think it’s totally about the money (which is perfectly reasonable and i would do the same) but if CJI doesn’t happen again i bet all of those athletes will go back to ADCC even if it still is only a 10k prize. I guess only time will tell but if it is by protest then they won’t compete in 2026 either if things stay the same.
