ഞാൻ ജീവിതത്തിൽ ആദ്യമായിട്ട് വാങ്ങിയ കാർ ഈ അബാർത്ത് പുന്റോ ആണ്. ഇപ്പോൾ 2 വർഷം ആകാൻ പോകുന്നു. ഫിയറ്റ് നിർത്തി എന്നറിഞ്ഞിട്ടും ഈ വണ്ടി‌ തന്നെ തപ്പിപിടിച്ച് എടുത്തത് ഇന്നാലോചിക്കുമ്പോൾ പറഞ്ഞറിയിക്കാൻ പറ്റാത്ത ഫീലാണ്. ഫിയറ്റ് ഓണേർസിന്റെ ഒത്തൊരുമയെപറ്റി പറഞ്ഞത് വളരെ ശരിയാണ് അവരാണ് യഥാർത്ഥ വാഹനപ്രേമികൾ, കാര്യം ഇതുപോലെ സപ്പോർട്ട് തരുന്ന ഓണേർസ് വേറെ ഒരു ബ്രാൻഡിനും ഇല്ല. ഒരു ഫിയറ്റ് ഓണർക്ക് ആ ജില്ലയിലെ ഒരു 10 ഫിയറ്റ് ഓണറുമാരുമായിട്ടെങ്കിലും വാഹനപരമായ സൗഹൃദം ഉണ്ടാകും അത് വേറെ ഒരു ബ്രാൻഡിനും അവകാശപ്പെടാൻ പറ്റാത്തതാണ്. ഈ വണ്ടി വാങ്ങാനായി സംസാരിച്ച സമയത്തെ എന്റെ വണ്ടിയുടെ മുൻപത്തെ ഓണറുടെ പെരുമാറ്റം കണ്ടപ്പോൾ ഇങ്ങേർ വണ്ടി വിൽകാനാണോ അതോ എനിക്ക് മകളെ കെട്ടിച്ച് തരാനാണോ ആലോചിക്കുന്നത് എന്ന് തോന്നിപ്പോയി കാരണം, എവിടാ ജോലി? റാഷ് ഡ്രൈവിങ്ങ് ഉണ്ടോ? ഈ വണ്ടി വാങ്ങി എന്ത് ചെയ്യാനാണ് പ്ലാൻ? ഞാൻ വണ്ടി ചോദിച്ച് വരുന്ന എല്ലാവർക്കുമൊന്നും കൊടുക്കാൻ ഉദ്ദേശിക്കുന്നില്ല കേട്ടോ? വണ്ടിയെ നന്നായി നോക്കില്ലേ? കൊണ്ട് നടക്കാൻ പറ്റില്ലെങ്കിൽ വെറുതേ എടുക്കണ്ട കേട്ടോ. ഇപ്പൊ ഒരാവേശത്തിന് എടുത്ത് വെറുതേയായി എന്ന് തോന്നരുത്, വേറെ വണ്ടി വാങ്ങുന്ന മൈൻഡിൽ ഇത് വാങ്ങരുത്, ആലോചിച്ചിട്ട് മാത്രം മതി തീരുമാനം, ഈ ടൈപ്പ് ഡയലോഗ്സ് ആയിരുന്നു മൊത്തത്തിൽ. എന്തായാലും ആൾക്ക് എന്നെയും എനിക്ക് ആൾടെ വണ്ടിയേയും ഒരുപാട് ഇഷ്ടമായത് കൊണ്ട് വണ്ടി എനിക്ക് തന്നെ തന്നു. പിന്നെ വീഡിയോയിൽ പറഞ്ഞ ഫിയറ്റ് പ്രശ്നങ്ങൾ ഒക്കെ ശരിയാണ് പക്ഷേ അത് ശീലിച്ച് കഴിഞ്ഞാൽ പിന്നെ അതൊന്നും ഇല്ലെങ്കിൽ ആണ് പ്രശ്നം. ഉദാഹരണത്തിന് ഫിയറ്റിലെ റബറി ഗിയർ ഷിഫ്റ്റ് ശീലിച്ച് മറ്റു കാറുകളുടെ ഗിയർ എനിക്ക് ഇൻഡികേറ്റർ നോബ് തട്ടുന്നപോലത്തെ ഒരു ഫീൽ ആണ് തരുന്നത് പിന്നെ വേറെ കാറുകളിൽ കയറിയാൽ ആദ്യത്തെ ഒരുമണിക്കൂർ മൊത്തത്തിൽ എന്തൊക്കെയോ എവിടൊക്കെയോ ലൂസായി കിടക്കുന്നോ എന്നൊരു ഡൗട്ടും വരും ഒരു സോളിഡ് ഫീൽ ഇല്ലാത്തപോലെ. പെട്രോൾ വില എത്രകൂടിയാലും ആവുന്ന കാലത്തോളം ഈ മുതലിനെ അന്തസായും അഭിമാനത്തോടെയും കൊണ്ട് നടക്കാൻ തന്നെയാണ് എന്റെ ഉറച്ച തീരുമാനം. Thanks a lot for featuring s10 and now Abarth. thanks JD and Vivek for the wonderful review on FIAT ABARTH - at present using a G20 330i M sport, and PALIO 1.2 being the first car i bought myself and then graduating onto a FIAT LINEA 1.3 multi jet. Never regretted the "TANK of a car" that Palio was, though the 1.2 drive by wire engine was woefully underpowered and then going in again for a FIAT when i bought LINEA in 2009, many of my friends poked fun at me framing me as a FIAT GUY. To date the feel that i got when i drove the LINEA on highways is still to be experienced even in the 330i M sport - not a word of exaggeration (the cars being worlds apart though). The road gripping character when you reached speeds well above 120km/hr was something amazing and thrilling for a person who loved to live in a car, driving it.

Brilliant episode! Really enjoyed the conversation. I have owned a Linea Multijet for 8 years as my daily driver and clocked 1.4L km on it. I had to sell it as I had to upgrade to a bigger car, but I still haven’t found a match in terms of steering feel, chassis feedback, brakes, brilliant ride and absolute value. It definitely felt like from a segment above. Requesting you to do an episode on buying a used Compass.

This one is a keeper for sure! Trouble buying a used ones are twofold, sky high prices and difficulty in finding stock cars. Lot of owners have tuned these cars, it's hard to know if the job was done well. There really is no other way to own one of these beauties now, so ... it is what it is! Talking of manufacturers teasing amazing colors prior to sale only take the safer route post launch...even the Tiago JTP was teased in a lovely shade of silver/gray at the AutoExpo in 2018, they only launched it in Red and White! Every fast hatchback launched in India has met the same fate. People's need for fast hatchbacks is restricted to online forums and rarely gets translated to actual sales for manufacturers. The ever so high fuel prices certainly don't help the cause. Please do a feature on the tuned Abarth Punto 👍 Oh and setting the the speed limit chime to 40 was neat 😉😉

Loved this video. I've owned a Palio Stile for 13.5 years and loved everything about that car. Ran it for 1.25L Kms and it still had a lot of life left in it. Sold the car in Dec 2021 and was kicking myself for doing that... but I guess everything happens for a reason and guess what... I recently picked up a pre-owned Abarth Punto! Everything you guys mentioned about this car and the Fiat brand is spot on. I'm super Happy to be have owned cars from a great brand like Fiat! I wish they come back and offer performance cars like the Abarth Punto

Absolutely loved this video, as much as you guys enjoyed reviewing the Abarth Punto! Also, looking forward to the review of the tuned Abarth Punto. I’d like to share an incident from a few years back - During the breakfast stop for a FIAT Club Kerala meet at Bangalore, a gentleman approached me while I was parking my Grande Punto and requested me to park my car next to his in a slot further ahead. It turned out that he was an Abarth Punto owner who was on a road trip to Kanyakumari :) His was one among the 6 Abarth Puntos that were delivered at Pune on the same day.

I have test driven Kushak and Tigun, but coming back to drive my Punto was a different experience. Almost driven across Kerala and Tamil Nadu, crossed 2Lakh Kms. Still like a new car. MRF Perfinza Pattern tyre 195/60/R15 gives excellent drivability. Always serviced at Hyson Fiat, Kakkanad. A great forgotten, undervalued car.

Had a linea for 8 years . Was an absolutely brilliant car, save for the underpowered engine. The feeling of solidity and ride quality can hold its own against even an Octavia!( Not better or even on par, but still almost there). Was offered peanuts when we checked with honda for exchange. Put an ad on OLX and many fiat enthusiasts came with much higher offers. Finally an ex fiat Service advisor from our dealership who was also a fiat enthusiast, who was working in Dubai at that time and knew our car, picked it up. Still remember talking to another prospective buyer who buys only fiat cars!!

Watching this video, I was smiling all along. For I owned a Linea T Jet for five years and agree with all your observations...both positive and negative. No other C segment car could hold a candle to Linea! When Fiat was selling their limited stock of Abarth at a discounted price, I was in two minds. By the time I made up my mind and visited the showroom, none was left😌 I still regret that missed opportunity. Anyways, enjoyed this episode too, as always 🙏

Proud and satisfied owner of Fiat Linea. Owned honda city, VW Polo, first Gen swift. Nothing came close to the driving pleasure, stability and safe feeling of Fiat. The only problem which I had faced is the ground clearance which I hope is a trade off for the stability it offered. It is so unfortunate that Fiat had to stop production in India.

I own fiats from 2009 till now. My fiat collection is growing from Grande Punto, Avventura to Abarth. Pure drivers car with minimal gizmos but with maximum passion inbuilt. These 3 vehicles acquiring was the difficult part but its happy that now we (fiat owners) are getting appreciated slowly. I own a Grande Punto 90hp sports edition...it took me more than a year to buy one. The steering feedback is awesome and gives a solid feel and confidence. I wanted to buy an Abarth Punto, but I was not impressed with evo Abarth headlight. Looks can be subjective, but I still like the old design. Back the I did once write to Fiat asking to launch Abarth with original Grande Punto headlights 😀.

My classmate had given me a Fiat Punto TwinAir for couple of months. (2 cylinder, 0.9L, 84bhp turbocharged engine, 5 speed manual car in electric pacha!). We planned an exciting drive (from Paris to Rome via alps) and just about a week before that trip I noticed this same 2nd gear issue. Showed it to a workshop nearby. Problem didn't go away. (Vere car rentinu eduthu povua, very expensive). Later we had to cancel that trip because we were scared it would breakdown. CUT TO. 7 years later.. Realisation that it's just a Punto thing, hit me hard. Mukhathu oru adikittiyapole.. #thankyoutalkingcars :D

Excellent review and good choice. Fiats have elegant designs, who designs cars better than the Italians. The steering feedback is the best thing for a Fiat. Even in the olden days a Fiat derived Padmini used to handle and drive way better than the ambassador. Though service at times was a hit or miss but was way cheaper than the Germans. Sad that Fiat had to shut shop, they could have tried the Fiat Panda in India.

In India the Fiat DNA was actually created by the Palio with Fiat offering versions for domestic , the daily traveller, the need for speed types and weekend warriors ( 1.2, 1.9D, 1.6GTX and S10) Also what were the first SUV/Crossovers we had seen here with the 1.9D and 1.6 powertrains. And like you said not one car maker hit the Indian population with such a wide range of choice, ever. Unfortunately the after sales service killed the market. Notorious would be the kindest word for them Have been through 3 Fiats, the 1.6 Petra, the 1.9D Palio and the 1.3 Punto ( the last two still in possession), and the drive experience is in no other car in India, especially the feeling of oneness with the car. Never having learned the lesson Fiat has appointed a customer unfriendly online seller for spares and after a couple of bad experiences I and many other Fiatians ( yes that is what we call ourselves) now resort to cannibalised parts from scrapped vehicles. Another discouraging factor has been the inability of most mechanics to understand these cars. The best example is the 1.9D. The usual comment from an ignorant mechanic has been "Ayyo! It complaint vanndi aannu, vittu kashakku" has panicked many owners to sell their cars as scrap. A few of us still cling on to our Fiats especially the Palios and share our experiences and remedies in our social media groups, one of the first was PUG on Yahoo which is no more but we are there on Facebook and WhatsApp and will be there till the last Fiat is gone. My Punto 75bhp was one of the first to get the 4 mode switchable remap from WolfMoto and that has made it a car with a lot of potential.
