My husband took 2 garlic cloves pressed in a glass of fresh orange juice (the acid neutralizes the smell) daily while undergoing chemo in the late 1980’s for Hodgkins Disease. His white cells and platelets started to go too low from chemo and each treatment was delayed. Our 80 year old Baba told us this trick and he started doing it - NEVER missed a chemo after that - white cells and platelets stayed on par. We always take garlic when feeling a cold or flu - and he has been cancer free since 1988 thank God. It truly does work!

Garlic contains sulfur and that is why some people that eat it get body odor.

My grandmother, a poor uneducated farm girl from Lithuania, came to the US in the very early 1900's. She used to tell us that garlic and onions were "good for your blood". I guess the old timers were pretty smart.

Yes, they were wise. I have a high platelet count. I could not get it to come down. Started taking garlic capsule (odorless) 500 mg twice per day. My platelet count went down 50 points in 30 days. Yeah!

My father lived to 92 years old and was very healthy, he ate garlic every day. I took him once to emergency due to hurting his leg and the Doctor was amazed at his blood.

Garlic and honey every morning - nothing to eat for 4 hours - at 84 I take no medication - feel my age but I am physically and socially very active - never been in a hospital and look forward to a long and healthy future - with more travel and fun times ahead

@sialee5926 it's a solid, i wouldn't drink it's strong flaored so I like ti counter that with melted cheese. The 15 minutes wait it so the allicin is released in the garlic frim crushing or mincing it. Allicin is a natural compound in garlic activated by crushing and exposed to air

I have had a chronic sinus infection for decades. Taking antibiotics will clear it but it soon returns within a week or so of the treatment being complete. However, once I started taking a daily garlic (with horseradish and vitamin C) supplement the infection was reduced to such a low level that it no longer bothers me (unless I run out of garlic capsules).

You should not take antibiotics, but if you need to take it, you should also take probiotics for your guts.

I ferment garlic in raw honey. This multiplies both the effect of the honey and the garlic. I consume 2 cloves with a half teaspoon of the honey. Chew it thoroughly with the honey and swallow.......what an awesome way to finish off a meal. This stuff keeps for over a year. Note: I use a meat tenderizer to slightly soften the garlic up initially to release the allicin. Then put it in the honey. You'll want to have this year round. It will take 3-4 weeks to ferment. A good sign is the garlic cloves will start sinking to the bottom of the jar.

Same here … eat my honey-fermented garlic couple of times/day …. On salads, chicken breasts, etc. I chop up organic cloves and some fresh ginger, put in small jars, top with unpasteurized honey (as local as possible) and maybe add an allspice berry or 2. Flip jars up/down for first 3-5 days. Then put in cupboard or somewhere darkish for 3-4 weeks until garlic has mellowed. I have never liked the taste of raw garlic, so being able to eat uncooked garlic which has been mellowed by the honey is a gift. I Love It ! I always have several jars started at diff times, so I keep the production line going :-)

Finally!! Thank you for sharing such a great benefits of garlic. You have to mention to eat organic garlic from the garden . My grandma used garlic to prevent flu and other infections. I’ve never forgot her “favorite “ mixture “ : chopped garlic, honey, butter with warm milk, sounds disgusting but it was working for many generations and nobody was coughing or complaining of flu symptoms 😄

I lived just outside of Gilroy CA for 2 years. Gilroy claims to be the garlic capitol of the world. At harvest time you can smell the garlic from 15-20 miles away. Their garlic festival has everything you can think of all made from garlic: gum, toothpaste, ice cream, tea... The people there must be some of the healthiest in the world.

I agree with Dr. Weening about garlic breath. It's not that bad, especially when you know it's just because someone ate garlic. It's such a nice change to hear doctors talk about nutrition. Very helpful. Thank you.

The trick to minimize the bad breath and difficulty digesting garlic is to remove the heart of the garlic especially if eating raw. You still get all the benefits of the garlic without the downsides. I started doing that decades ago and it changed everything for us. No more stinky garlic breath for days just a few hours which can be neutralized by chewing gum right after the meal in question.

Excellent topic gents! Garlic is nature's "Statin" that has very little side effects, except of course the much talked about... bad breath. Which can be mitigated by eating parsley. Parsley has huge medicinal benefits...Your next topic Docs! P.S Vampires also "hate" parsley.

I wonder how much of the "good stuff" is gone/removed when you purchase minced garlic in a jar, or even pealed garlic you see in the sealed plastic. I am sure fresh is best, but how good would these alternatives be?

I do that all the time I add the minced garlic into the beans towards the end with some grated Parmesan cheese . Don’t forget mince the garlic 10 minutes ahead of use😅

40+ years ago I took a Chinese cooking class and the teacher (born in China) touted garlic. She said when colds or flu were going around in her village, as children they were given a bowl of raw garlic and had to eat it all while sitting close to the plaster walls of their home (that would supposedly absorb the smell).

Evening, Gents. Thank you for this one. I like to take garlic, turmeric and ginger each day, if I have one of those dinners where you can chuck everything in, like mushrooms and tomatoes, etc., or an omelette. I didn't realise about leaving it for a while after grating it so will do this now. I try to do good things hoping this offsets the cake weakness. Docs, I dreamed about you last night! We had to go to Canada and were in a big branch of Boots The Chemist. You both were seconded to it for some reason and were walking around. I did approach Dr Zalzal (who was about 7 ft tall) and we shook hands, and noticed he had Dupuytrens Contracture and thought he was just trying to be funny, due to the recent video, but he wasn't, it was genuine. Anyway, just thought I'd mention it 😊. (Sorry - that's a few minutes of your life you won't get back.)

Hello, I drink ginger, garlic boiled, and then add honey, lemons to taste every day without fail sometimes twice a day. I noticed my immune system is really good, no colds or flu's and I also have diabetes and high blood pressure. These have been really good. Also, my chloresterol has been great. I would not be without this drink. Thanks.🇬🇧

I eat about 4 cloves raw garlic daily with my meals! People may be lying but they always say they can not smell it on me? Maybe because i have a few peppermints throughout the day? Oh and I never have had covid nor a cold since before 2019.

I eat raw garlic every day in a salad. Much better digestion and fewer colds. I do have osteoporosis so I am hoping it will help in that area as well.

I love garlic. And I've learned to enjoy my own company 🤣. As for antioxidants, I was wondering how taking too many antioxidant supplements affects the body's own antioxidant production. I've heard that this can be reduced to regulate how much we have. Would be interesting to hear your knowledge on this.

How does garlic affect autoimmune problems? If it reduces inflammation in response to cuts, etc, is garlic good or less good for someone with an autoimmune condition? Yet it seems to be beneficial for other issues in a clear manner.

I can't tolerate much raw garlic due to ibs but at the hint of a cold garlic in hot water beats this swiftly.I ve shared this with friends and they have passed it on and told me it works. One person said her brother had a chronic cough and taking this cured it. I'll try to have some more raw in olive oil as salad dressing. Great video!

@@yxnone9771 I used to have IBS as well, the constipation version, not the diarrhea. It was awful. Very painful. Awake at night , until the next morning at 12:00 the pain went away, I could sleep again. Eating whole grain bread, foods that have fibers, eating not too much food. Plenty of water. No stress (important !). And keep the body moving. Walk, bicycle, do some sport-like activity. Experiment with all kinds of foods. For example pineapple helps against heartburn/acid reflux for me. Simple healthy options..Magnesium bisglycinate is a relaxer. I take that everyday(100mg is already good. 200mg is also good, but don't overdo it). No more twitching of the eyelid or muscle on the lower belly. Works against IBS also I think. Potassium helps against IBS I think. avocado, banana etc.. I hope you will get rid of the IBS..

Love you guys and Bert and Ernie ohh and garlic but it can be fussy to peel so I peel a few heads, puree in food processor and freeze in mini ice cube trays. So I have it prepped and ready to go in a container in the freezer. I do the same with onions and ginger.

If you take a broad knife sideways and punch it down to break it, it will be easier to peel!

@@TalkingWithDocs thanks for the tip hehe I have done that and I have a silcone garlic peeler but I don't always use fresh garlic so then it dries up haha and of course that is when I need it. So now I keep some in the freezer 😁 I also do this with lemons. I squeeze a whole bag and freeze in small ice cube trays.

You can put your garlic bulb into a cereal bowl and cover it almost entirely with a saucer. Put it into the microwave for one minute on high. Let it cool down. Super easy to remove the clothes once it is cool.

This should be part of your clean up routine . NO SMELL ! Wash your hands and Rinse your mouth out with Parsley or Cilantro water . 2 Tbs fresh Parsley or Cilantro , 8 oz (220 ml) warm water , Processor or Blender until very fine mix . Pour through a sieve and press with a spoon . Take the liquid as a mouthwash . Swish it 15 seconds . Vigorously rub the pulp in your hands .

I eat a clove of raw garlic daily…slice it up ..let it sit for 10 min…add some olive oil..dip some bread in it..mmmm…there is never a smell after I eat it …..btw. It is also recommended for women with urinary tract infections..thanks for this video

Good info! Thanks. I use garlic periodically because I like it and knew it was good for you, but not daily. Time to rethink this. I would cook it though. I'm going to try to let it rest after being cut up and sprinkle it on my food after I just it's cooked. It sounds like more health benefits that way. Edit - hmmm, not so sure about wanting to smell like garlic.

And in my trial of grandfathers my dad ate garlic specifically from age 60 and lived till 94 with generally great health - one bit missing from your vid I think was any comparison between actual garlic and garlic supplements - thanks again keep up the great work - hilarious too

I love garlic. I will sometimes eat four large cloves in one meal. I'll slice it and put it on my toast and then I put the rest of it in with my two eggs. I will eat kippers snacks and add garlic a slice of garlic to each bite, I don't know why I'm so obsessed with garlic, but I love it. I crave it. You know if you crave your body is telling you something. The only question I have is what might deter the smell. Because I'm always asking people around me do I smell like garlic and Coors? and their answers always no. But then I made a comment around my family that I eat lots of garlic and nobody's ever told me I stunk like garlic and they all started shaking their heads. Lol in the comments, lady said that her husband used to drink orange juice that the acid reduced the smell. So that's my question. What combination with the garlic can I eat that would reduce the smell the body

Loved the intro!! 🤣There are odorless garlic supplements available. Coming from the 'Old Country' my Grandparents were very accustomed to the benefits of garlic. (Just to tease my Grandmother, my Grandfather would finely chop up a garlic clove & chew on it, passing a piece to me & I would do the same. Her reaction would be one of, oh, you two stink!, as we chuckled.)

I love garlic. I eat it with split peas, eggs and mixed into a stock cube with tomato paste. The flavor is volatile. After a while, one clove becomes equivalento half a dozen. Eat it as soon as possible. Garlic is expensive compared to other vegetables. Although, growing on a small scale in a garden, I don't really know why that is. The yield is similar to onions by head count. Garlic keeps a really long time in a basket. I still have some from July. I washed it, dried it in draft and put away. I don't care about health. If you listen to enough of these programmes, everything becomes a health-promoting food.

You guys mention to wait about 10-15ish minutes for that compound to form....does it go away or convert to something else if one waits longer ? For example, if I peel and cut a bunch of garlic cloves, and store them in the fridge (so they are ready to use for when needed). In this case, would those beneficial compounds still exist ? Thanks

I eat raw garlic every day in evening and morning crushed as a side order a bite of garlic and a bite of my meal as for my breath well if you do Not like the smell cover your nose or leave my presence. Its that simple when lt comes to my health. AMEN.
