Exactly, Southgate is a PE teacher compared to coaches that these guys are used to. The FA should stop being illusioned about English coach. Bring a reputable coach and pay to bring it home. You don't have anyone locally who is a competitive coach. Klopp and Pep's setup is your best example of how England should be playing. It's utterly frustrating to see England playing compared to all other top 6 countries.

Simon has misread the stat about substitutions. What that tells us is that Southgate makes substitutions too late to affect games. Irrespective of form or tactics it's a statistical inevitability that substitutes would be responsible for, at the very least, 10% of goals and assists so if it's consistently that low, it suggests a major issue in how substitutes are used. We already know it's a longstanding criticism of Southgate that he waits too long to make changes and often lets games slip away.

I have the answer! But first, the problem. 1.players out of position(Trent, trippier foden) 2. Nothing on the left wing 3. Cautious negative football with no intensity 4. No overloads, no over laps on the wings, no runs in behind The answer: Pickford Back three: Walker Stones Geuhi Wing backs: Saka Gordon Midfield: Bellingham Rice Foden Forwards: Kane(Watkins) Palmer. Requirements for this to work 1. Saka and Gordon will need to really put a shift in and run their guts out. Both are well suited to this role though. They will need to stay wide. Bellingham and Foden need to be aware of their responsibility to the right and left of centre respectively and not just roam randomly as they fancy
